Marney's Village Inn
Excellent as always. Can’t fault it. Best roast out there by a country mile.
Character pub in lovely location. Great food and great service at good prices. We visit often with local friends and really enjoy the ambience and welcome.
Visiting the area and needed to stop for food. Marney’s Village Inn came up on google so we booked a table. Lovely location however when we walked in, it’s one of those places that everyone turns to look at you because they know you don’t live local. Olde worlde style pub, everyone crowds around the bar and was quite difficult to get served. We went around 6pm and it was full.
Considering the location, the food was very reasonably priced. Decent size potions with McDonald style fries. The waitress was lovely and friendly. We are a professional couple but the clientele in this pub were loud, snobby businessmen.
Would we return, probably not.
Basic pub grub. Been going there since it was the Almer. Good solid pub in good location.
I’m taking a chance here and hoping my old girl don’t read this! As kid I ABSOLUTELY hated roast dinners because of the way my mum made them. Over cooked beef and dry roast chicken 🤮. I didn’t touch one for about 10 years. Me and my girlfriend have been visiting Marney’s for about 9 months now and came across their roast a few months ago. It would be safe to say they have put my faith, and more, back into a roast dinner. It’s the best thing out there. It can’t be beat. If someone said there was a better one out there I wouldn’t believe them. They would only be kidding themselves! A definite must of you have never tried it. Book well in advance as that’s the only way you’ll be able to get it.
Food was outstanding and very good value for money. Always an enjoyable experience.
Lovely friendly atmosphere. Food was well cooked, arrived quickly and was delicious. I would definitely recommend Marneys
Fantastic food - the only negative is the small space per table. Looking forward to the next visit!
Thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch. Will definitely be back
Great food, excellent service, good value and huge portions! Just don't tell everyone!
A very pleasant experience and good food and a little walk on the Green.
We’ve dined twice at Marneys in the last 6 weeks. The food is always excellent and the staff friendly. Last Sunday there was no waitress service and we were not given the table we had requested. In addition the group on the table next to us arrived half way through our lunch, made a lot noise, and crammed our older guests up against our table. Kind of spoilt what up until then had been a great lunch. Top tip: don’t order starters if you are having the Sunday roasts! The portion sizes are huge!
Food was very good (although our sauces never came), but staff were a bit unhelpful and the surroundings were quite cramped
Great food and service, scampi and steak were September!
Lovely. Plentiful tasty food. Lovely Sunday Lunch.
The service was very slow although the bar staff were pleasant and the food was indifferent .
Good food in an unthought-out and slightly cramped restaurant space. In summer, when there's lots of space outside, this won't matter at all. Or the fact that punters in the pub walk through the small dining area to the toilets. You need to queue up at the bar to order from what seems like a bunch of amenable roadies. My steak was £23 and barely warm. Lots to improve, but not a disaster.
I had the chilli/crab linguine.... the dish was tepid, the linguine was undercooked and the sauce bland, with little or no flavour of crab. My guest had sausage and mash. She was unable to eat the kale which was undercooked and tough. Her sausage was ok but the dish was mostly mash with grey gravy.
This place consistently delivers! Fantastic tasty food, great selection of drinks and friendly atmosphere A real treat, we will be back!
Our first time to Marney’s and we were very impressed. Delicious Sunday lunch, friendly staff and generally a great pub! We will definitely be back.
Setting was very pleasant sat outside on a hot sunny day. Food was delayed, took around 50 minutes to come out but was warned about this when we ordered. It didnt really matter as was very pleasant sat outside in the sun. Service at the bar was quick.
A few more umbrellas for the tables outside to be able to sit in the shade would be welcomed.
We popped in for a Sunday lunch and had good food, hefty servings and value for money.
We will be going again.
This is a lovely little pub and worth a visit, however we were a little disappointed with the menu as it didn't seem to reflect what we had seen when reviewing the pub. It was a lot of fried food, and whilst they did have salads, they were very unusual and not to our tastes. However, what we did order was presented well and we had a nice time.
I had salmon and dill fish cakes .my son and grandson had lamb burgers with pate starter and houlommi starter .The food was very good .Nice quite old fashioned pub with good old fashioned service. It is tucked away out of the way so you have to look for it.we were in the area to watch my grandson play Rugby league.Nice way to pass an enjoyable afternoon after a Rugby win .The food was washed down with a nice couple of pints of Guinness
The food is very good but the OpenTable booking system did not work as there was no table reserved for us when we arrived.
Love the setting- glad we could get a table outside.
Service was slow- due to volume of customers we assume- but we had to enquire twice where our food was- we had arrived before the core of customers - so couldn’t understand why we waited.
Outside tables were tricky to keep a Prosecco glass upright- half a glass spilt- uneven surface- possibly a tray would be better.
Loved the food- and will return with friends & family- just need to make sure feedback is given for the team to get it right.
This is a very welcoming traditional pub set in a beautiful open quiet villagey setting in the middle of suburbia though you wouldn't know it. Both food and drinks are of a high standard and the service is impeccable.
Great pub with great food in a very pretty setting.
If you want a good but reasonable pub lunch with good beer go to Marneys
Marney's is our local pub. It is superbly situated in a near countryside setting. Skilfully managed and with a great kitchen and menu. Always a friendly welome and everything always beautifully presented.
Ambience marked down only because it is always cold in the restaurant!
I have been there a couple of times recently and have been pleased . Last week however the food was not so good and the service was very slow
Great little find!!
Excellent choice on the menu. Very reasonably priced for the size of portions and all really good quality food. We'll be back :)
Hi Wendy, Thank you for your 5 star review. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Kind Regards Marneys
Good Sunday roast which was very much like home cooking. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Will definitely return.
Hi Julie, we pride ourselves on the roasts at Marneys, and our staff are our most valuable assets. Kind Regards Marneys
Marneys’s is going through a brilliant period which is why it full mid week . Not a big menu but what is there is good . Plus the beer .
Hi Chris, We are continuing to grow our menu and provide seasonable dishes. We will be introducing new ideas and events to encourage our regulars and new patrons to come in for a well deserved drink or meal. Kind Regards Marneys
Went for Sunday lunch and it is the best I have had in a very long time! The food was absolutely perfect and there was so much of it! Casual and cozy pub opposite a pond and church. Well worth a visit
