I've honestly had better sushi at a Walgreens in San Francisco. We made the mistake of omakase, 75% of which was past its prime. Avoid the mackarel, it tasted like cheap Russian sardines left out on a balmy August afternoon. The service, however, was surprisingly good. Probably a fine choice if you're already drunk from the game and you decide you want mediocre fish.

Excellent dinner all around. Sushi was out of this world. Had the Matsu roll and several of our favorite ngiri. Black cod was a-maz-ing. Our server helped us choose some sake glass pours and her recommendations were spot on. Totally worth the splurge. LOVE Matsu!

Soooo good. Sushi? Yes, many gorgeous rolls. But so much more. Yakisoba, gyoza, chicken, spinach, seaweed salad - they've all been delicious.

I've been to Matsu quite a few times in the past but it's been kind of going downhill. Most importantly, the quality if the fish doesn't seem as good. I remember having really great, fresh otoro here in the past, but everything the last couple of times just kind of tastes more fishy and un-fresh. The snow crab in the cali rolls is almost smashed up like a tunafish sandwich and doesn't have that sweet crab flavor. Furthermore, the last couple of times have been so loud I literally could not have a basic conversation with my date without shouting.

Seated immediately. Beautifully decorated place. Servers were friendly and attentive. Food was not very good unfortunately. The fried tofu was completely wrong using the chinese fermented and brined tofu. It was stinky and I couldn’t believe the kitchen couldn’t tell the difference. The grilled shishito peppers were excellent. One of the best. Spinach salad was good but too much sauce. The edamame were actually pretty good and not over seasoned. The rolls were average, generous portion but sliced too thin. Salmon skin had mostly salmon pieces. Good salmon but not crispy. The food was unfortunately disappointing.

Was super excited to try this restaurant for some fresh sushi. We tried the tuna sampler and it just didn’t hit, a little fishy didn’t taste super fresh. Wanted to try the crispy rice really bad but they weren’t serving it for the day. Barcelona roll was interesting but there was barely any tuna in it, one piece at the end had all the tuna the rest were basically a veggie roll. Short ribs were the highlight. Left still needing a fresh sushi fix.

Dinner was great, food was fantastic, and our server recommended some wonderful sake and rolls for us to enjoy. However, there was a child running around the restaurant with no shoes and his iPad volume on loud. I think it would have been appropriate for the staff to ask the parents of that child to encourage their child to stay in his seat and keep his clothing on. Otherwise, a great meal and would recommend.

I’m not sure what I was expecting dining close to the sports stadiums. The service was good, however the food was an inside down experience. The dishes that should have strong umami flavors were bland and the dishes that should have subtle flavors had strong sauces.

The only knock on service was not for our server who was fantastic but on the lack of response from employees overall on making sure the restroom had enough toilet paper and paper towels. Granted is there was a huge concert in town that night but keeping the restrooms stocked just as far as health conditions should be a higher priority. I asked three times, so three different employees. There was no toilet paper or paper towels for the entire time we were at the restaurant.

We went to Matsu a few hours before the Taylor Swift concert at Lumen. Food was quick, delicious and the servers were attentive despite the restaurant being packed. We sat on the patio and watched folks walk in for the show. Perfect spot!

4th visit to Matsu, and the food quality was off. Calamari was tough, bland and chewy. Some of the meat was fatty and full of gristle, making it inedible. Wrong sauces delivered with some dishes. Really disappointing. Quality of service was excellent though.

Incredible experience. First time trying high end sushi dining and everything was phenomenal. Highly recommend trying the Omakase option for sushi. It's an excellent opportunity to try a bunch of fish in one sitting.

The food, drinks, service, and ambiance were terrific. Best of all, they're one of the few places open for dining on a Monday night. Great place for a celebratory meal for a large group.

Service was fabulous. Cocktails and food were tasty! The chef's platter (Omakase) was AMAZING. All of the chef's fish choices were fresh, tasty and "melted like butter". WE will definitely come back.
