Great food and service. Perfect setting sitting on the verandah of a Queenslander.
Absolutely loved it! Food was delicious, staff were extremely attentive, warm & friendly! Prices were great too
The food was average and although we were all running late I felt the kitchen had had enough for the day. We also booked all tree cabins and my wife and I stayed in the dairy. There was no hot water until we checked out!
It was my Birthday and I had not celebrated it in Years and was disappointmented.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch on the veranda of this beautiful restaurant enjoying the garden and fresh produce. Very relaxing and an exquisite menu.
Had a fab breakfast here last Saturday, been here before but brekkie was spesh.
Wonderful fresh, organic produce, friendly, courteous staff (and owner 😊) and a fortuitous visit by a local avian chatterbox who talked the ears off two people having breakfast.
A very special venue run by even more special people 🙏
Despite us being an hour late due to the Queensland time difference we were made to feel welcome and the service was absolutely brilliant. This is especially to note because it was a very hot day and the staff could not have done enough for us despite them feeling the heat themselves. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants the experience of a great restaurant, great location and great menu. I cannot fault it. A very special restaurant in a very special location.
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Wonderful food, service and a lovely view. Couldn't ask for more:)
Great location, wonderful seasonal flavours, the protein was the hero.. such a great thing? awesome wine and beer menu. Could bring the dog, shot to my favourites list!...
I took my partner for a late Valentine's Day lunch last Saturday. The food was wonderful and we were having an absolutely wonderful time until ...Whilst considering the dessert menu a woman and her 2 huge white standard poodles were seated beside us. One dog proceeded to put its head on our table centimetres from my plate. This is not ideal hygienically but also the fact that I am scared of dogs it became a worrying time for me. It would have been nice is someone had checked we were ok with these 2 extremely large dogs practically joining our lunch. We left the restaurant without dessert, sadly as they looked as impressive as the previous courses.
We were there in Valentines day, and ordered from the set 3 course menu. Entree (Oysters) was very nice, the main dish for me and my wife was the beef ribs with green paw-paw salad. Ribs were large with a lot of tender meat, but the salad was disappointing, no flavor at all. (I expected a Thai style green papaya salad). My daughter had the sea trout and enjoyed that. Desert was excellent. The house wine was good and the service very good. The location is beautiful, certainly a a place to go for a special occasion.
Beautiful grounds and a lovely restored Queenslander, must admit I thought Friday night was advertised as a Tapas Nite. But no harm done, the tempura vegetable dish was absolutely yummy, my partners slaw & rib was nice but the sauce was on the salty side for my liking. Attentive service and a good wine and beverage selection. Will try lunch next so as to take more of the grounds in
Lunch after a walk to the peak of Mt Warning with friends visiting from Sydney. Spectacular setting, superb fresh food and friendly service. We would not hesitate to return.
Our third visit and taking friends each time. We have all been impressed with the menu, quality of food and friendly service.
Loved everything about Mavis kitchen. The food and with tasty herbs and produce from their own garden, scenery, ambience, lovely, waiter and chef, wine selection, and making you feel special on your birthday. Affordable and delicious lunches with yummy deserts. Great treat experience and Well worth the drive. Cheers
everything was perfect. highly recommend doing the 3 course wine match.
This was the most amazing location with the most amazing food and the most amazing staff. Have I used amazing enough? I cannot recommend this restaurant any higher. You simply must go.
Beautiful relaxed setting, fantastic food and wonderful service
Excellent service and good food. Lovely setting BUT be aware, there could be a big function next to your romantic dinner.
I had heard many good things about Mavis’s Kitchen from my friends and used my birthday as a great excuse to book. It exceeded all expectations! The food was exceptional and great value, the ambience and the view turned it into a truly memorable occasion. Loved strolling the grounds afterwards. Can’t wait to return!!
My twin and I celebrated our 46th birthday at Mavis’s and had a perfect day. The food, service and views were special. Thank you for making our birthday a day to remember ❤️
It’s just good. Every time. Just go there and experience it.
Highly recommended. Both the country location and ambiance are fantastic, the menu varied and thoughtful. Not absolutely perfect yet still outstanding for a lunch on a nice sunny day.
We visited recently for lunch with a ore booked party of 8 (including 2 children) to celebrate a significant 50th birthday. We did so following several recommendations from friends who had dined at Mavis' over the years. Disappointingly our experience did not match our expectations. Food was overpriced and served on wooden cafe tables which were greasy to touch (no table cloths). The service was slow. The waitress was rude and non-attentive, and took us all aback when she stated she had deliberately held our main meals until the last piece of starter bread on the plate had been eaten. It was a very warm day and despite it not being busy we waited long periods for drinks, and to place orders. By the time we received the dessert course we were one of 3 parties left in the restaurant and wait staff began to stack chairs around us. Very disappointing Mavis.
It was our first time, it was lovely. We will definitely be back It was a shame we missed out on our booking table next to the verandah rail so we were near the door so view wasn’t as good but still a lovely lunch. The staff were so attentive and everyone was very friendly. Thankyou
Excellent for elderly guest as well as younger . Beautiful staff , friendly and happy. Ricky was delightful too!Thank you
My partner and I were staying at a local B&B to celebrate his 70th birthday and we chose lunch at Mavis's Kitchen as our dining treat. We were rewarded with friendly service and delicious food in a beautiful setting. It was a very hot day so we didn't linger but I can well imagine it would be a wonderful place for a very long lunch on a cooler day.
When ever we are in the area we make a booking. This place is special, the flood, the service, the old queenslander building, the grounds, the garden and the views of Mt Warning. Nothing but positive recommendations here.
Our second visit to Mavis’s with a couple of years n between. However, nothing has changed but the continued growth of the lovely gardens! Quality of food was wonderful. Nice variety of menus choices and portion sizes are generous. The 3 course lunch option is very good value. Freindly staff and lovely country atmosphere. We all loved our meals and time spent enjoying them at a leisurely pace in the cool of the verandah.
Love the atmosphere, the creative food ,the use of local ingredients, the delicious tasty food .
Exceptional service and when there was a slight hiccup we were more than compensated.
Will certainly be back to try some more yummy dishes.
Simple food but made with great produce and incredible kitchen garden to explore in a magic location. Fantastic kids meal which my daughter devoured, which kept her busy too which was nice. We love Mavis's.
The ambiance and the food was just great. Also the staff were very friendly and helpful
All in all a lovely day . Thank you
Charlie and Peter have been restaurateurs now for some 20 years and you can't achieve that longevity without consistently high performance. Their attention to all the smallest details make the difference, and that is reflected in beautiful food and it's presentation, the service their warm welcome and and outstanding venue. Well worth the drive in to the scenic Tweed Valley, under the gaze of Mount Warning.
So friendly and accomodating, nothing is ever a problem, food is devine
We love the atmosphere and the entree’s were fantastic
The service was really great and the young waitress was very friendly and helpful
My only concern was that my main meal, the chicken, was very ordinary . Just as well the entree was filling.
My husband really enjoyed his main meal, the pork, along with a great red wine from Orange, NSW.
It was a lovely venue for a special occasion. I have already recommended our experience to close friends.
A delightful experience... atmosphere menu and service all amazing and the lovely setting with open air dining was very relaxing ...pricing very reasonable for such quality cuisine...thank you Mavis's Kitchen Staff our visit will not be the last one I am sure...
Lovely spot to enjoy Birthday celebration. Great menu . Loved our specially prepared Birthday dessert. Highly recommend for any occasion
Lovely place to have a birthday lunch. Good food and good service. Lovely gardens to explore. Only negative was the weather, a very hot day for outdoor seating, but not much can be done about that.
Lovely location, great food and great staff, not to mention a lovely drive from the coast to get there.
Made regular visits there over several years and never disappointed.
