Max of Eastman Place

Both the food and service were impeccable! Will remember this meal for a lifetime and will be going back as well. The beans and greens, beet salad, rigatoni with osso bucco and bouillibaisse were altogether both outstanding and memorable. Our server, Margaret, astutely assisted our meal choices and helped to make us feel right at home.

Excellent food, from macaroni and cheese to steak to vegetables. Nice atmosphere with interesting art on the walls. Staff were friendly and helpful, not intrusive. A great place for a great meal.

Venue is nice, however atrium concept makes it loud/a little difficult to carry conversation. Great food and nice wine selection.

Two couples, two tables made for a socially distanced dining experience. Tables were sufficiently close to allow conversation, but far apart enough for distancing. Food was excellent, as was the service. This is a great place for gathering in the time of Covid. Would highly recommend it!

We waited over two hours for our meal. The restaurant was extremely overbooked. It was not the fault of our waitress. A very bad experience at this restaurant. The food was also not up to their standards based on prior experiences.

We opted to sit outside the main dining room because of Covid. The place nice with soft music so our party could talk to each other. All of us ordered the New England clam chowder which was excellent! I also had the roasted beet salad. - very fresh. For entree, we had the scallops with cauliflower purée - I think this was the best I’ve ever had. Had a smoky buttery flavor. My husband loved the flounder.

We had a lovely time for our 6th anniversary. Margaret was an excellent server, and even though she was by herself (this was a very quiet Monday night), she attended to all her tables and was readily available for all our needs. The food was good; I wasn’t thrilled with the escargot appetizer, purely subjective, but that was my experience. My steak was cooked perfectly, the scallops were delicious, and the little neck clams were also very good. Reasonably priced for a night of fine dining and I’m certain we will be back again.

Met a friend for lunch at Max's. The atmosphere is wonderful, noise is non-existence. Food was very good. They had many specials for the day that sounded delicious, I had a friend chicken sandwich with a buttermilk+blue cheese sauce. My friend has the mushroom risotto. Which was very good, but perhaps a little too salty.

I highly recommend for lunch.

Compliments to the chef! We were a party of three and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. Our server was attentive, but didn't rush us in any way. It is high class, but casual. A real treat!

Very nice outdoor setting with really nice music (not live) and not too loud which added immensely. Bread would be nice with the meal. Vinaigrettes for salad were too heavy on vinegar; not balanced. Meal was very, very good!

Best food I’ve had in Rochester by far. Everything was absolutely perfect.

We both had the steak (ribeye and filet), and it was incredible. Wine selection was great, and it was a nice change of pace to enjoy our dinner out on the patio.

It wasn't very busy (COVID), and our waitress was very attentive without being a distraction.

Max’s is always a fantastic evening. Great value for your money. The courtyard was setup beautifully, my wife and I felt very safe with the distance between tables and safety procedures the staff followed.

In the beautiful outdoor setting - the menu and presentation, waitstaff interactions and caring for guest safety all added to a date night that was magical and memorable. I have made a reservation for a return visit.

Celebrated our anniversary here and had a wonderful dinner! They were featuring their new French Bistro Menu, which was why we chose Max. We were offered complimentary popovers after we placed our orders, and they were divine! My Husband raved about his salad, the baby spinach and grape with pancetta and roquefort. Our entrees were excellent and our servers were very attentive! Can't wait to return!

Food is good with interesting choices.
However the service is abismal. Long wait for food. No attention from staff. Asked for bread and never received it although we saw that all other patrons were given it.

Three of us had dinner on a Saturday night. We were going to a show after and our waitress ensured that we were finished with lots of time to spare - thank you. We separately ordered tenderloin, salmon and lobster macaroni. The steak was excellent, the salmon was very translucent after a request that it be cooked medium and had to be sent back, and the lobster was also undercooked. The atmosphere was very nice.

My wife and I had a wonderful time. The servers were all so friendly and really felt like they wanted to make the night special for everyone. Food and wine was excellent. The only frustration was that the tables were too close together - so not much privacy.
