Maxwell's kitchen was a hit. Small but the food was tremendous. Steven was an excellent and attentive server. Good from predinner cocktails to dessert. Will definitely be back.
Excellent Food and Service! Will definitely be returning.
Loved it! Excellent food, drinks, and service. It was our third time going and we will definitely be back!
Had a good experience at Maxwell's Kitchen. Food was good, not great but definitely a good meal. The one thing that I could criticize was the timing of the meal. It is a small place which was nice and quaint and the kitchen was full of staff but the courses were very spread out so far that it seemed unorganized. Between our appetizer and main course, we waiting 25-30 minutes then the same for the dessert. I don't mind having a wait in-between courses but there was no flow to this meal.
The food was delicious and the service so friendly. I'm definitely going back. The lemon tart was perfection.
Wonderful 1st experience! Definitely will come back! Casual setting with upscale food. Food and service were spectacular! Steve had a very nice personality and served with a touch of humor. Lovely restaurant!
The ribs and the bread pudding were excellent but the turtle soup was strange and the trout was bland. The meat portion of the steak frites was too small.
Great experience at Maxwell's all-around. Wonderful hostess. She accommodated, with a smile, an extra person joining us than what we had reserved. Stephen was a great waiter. Said he was new there but knew the menu and helped us along the way with food and drink decisions. Food was delicious; I had the duck. One friend who is not easy to please at restaurants said he would give the quail a 10/10!
Excellent experience, highly recommend any day of the week
Must try the Mexican Chocolate Ice Cream!!!
Chef Jason is amazing. Both the entrees and the desserts are made by him! And both were delicious.
Our server, Steven, was both friendly and knowledgeable!
Appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine for less than $100.00.
Great food and ambience truly enjoyed the restaurant.
Great little spot with excellent well priced food. Waiter was outstanding. Not fine dining, but a great restaurant for a casual date or dinner with friends. Portion sizes were perfect, cocktails were tasty and unique.
Delicious! The Filet and salads we had were perfect. The wine selection is small, but every wine is excellent at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!
Service was fantastic and the food was excellent! We are looking forward to another trip to explore more of the menu!
The food was very good. I expected more of a kick from the Creole ribs, but they were very meaty and well cooked. The duck fat popcorn is a must have. My wife enjoyed the steak with Béarnaise sauce.
Maxwell’s is a fun casual place, with great food. Love the French Onion Grilled Cheese! Good wine/beer/drinks menu. Fun for casual date night.
We told our waitress that we had tickets to the Weinberg, so she made sure we were in and out without feeling rushed. I had the double-stack, and it was the best burger I have ever had! Others in my party had the french onion grilled cheese and the po boy, both of which also received rave reviews. We were all so pleased with everything that we've already decided to go back the next time we're downtown! My only complaint is that it was a super-small place, but they made good use of the space they had.
Nice selections on the menu, the foods was tasty and reasonably priced, and the service was great.
First time at Maxwell’s Kitchen and it was a wonderful surprise. Food was excellent and unique. Fries unexpectedly came with our mussels so we could dredge them in the sauce - nice! Beet salad was perfectly prepared and both meals - trout and ÉTOUFFÉE were excellent. Great intimate atmosphere - we’ll be back!
We already knew Maxwell’s Kitchen is an excellent dining choice and booked a New Years Eve dinner not realizing they were doing a special pre fixe meal. It was absolutely outstanding! Chef had developed a creative and diverse 5-course with very solid wine/drink pairings. So very glad we chose Maxwell’s!
On an any day basis, this restaurant is one of Frederick’s low-key gems. It is small and inauspicious, visually, but the meals are prepared with consistent excellence in every respect. Staff are all very friendly and attentive.
What was advertised as a romantic candlelight 5 course New Year's Eve dinner was anything but romantic. The lighting in the restaurant was so bright that you could not tell that our candle was lit. The portions were so small that my husband and I both left hungry. There were no vegetables served with dinner. The tiny square of chocolate cake served as dessert was dry. We were over charged for drinks. And there was so much time between courses we literally sat twiddling our thumbs.
Food was excellent. Service was attentive. While it has a French style cuisine, it might limit families to come or people to return because the menu is so unusual.
Very cold. I don’t think the heat was on and many people were wearing coats. The chicken in our salad was cubed and not substantial. It was Ok overall, but nothing special.
It started out great as we were seated promptly. Unfortunately no one came to serve us for 10 minutes at which point I asked the hostess. She was excellent and took our order. For some reason they had no shrimp which is an issue for a place advertising as New Orleans style. The food we did receive was so so and the kitchens timing was off. We never did see a server but the hostess did take great care of us. She gave us a 10% credit on the bill as well. We probably won't return anytime soon so they have time to work out their service and timing issues.
I love everything, such fun choices and SO good. Value is the best and so is the service
The menu itself was an adventure. Had fun choosing between unique twists to familiar dishes, or something new that looked amazing. Definitely going back to try some of the dishes that I didn't get to have this time around.
Good food with some interesting items on the menu. We particularly enjoyed the duck rillettes The room temperature was oold enough that we and the people around us kept our jackets on. Service was pleasant but inexperienced. We needed to ask for water refills and were never asked if we wanted a second glass of wine.
First time there. Definitely will be back. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were great. And the window seat was a great place to sit and people watch while we enjoyed our meal.
This place is still new, and I hope they work out the kinks. The food is high quality, although the menu is odd - neither here (New Orleans, its purported inspiration) nor there (Wine Kitchen, its big sister restaurant). The staff is super sweet but pretty clueless - cleared my glass before I was finished, could not be located to provide condiments, etc. There's no bar, so drinks appear to be mixed in a corner of the kitchen and take a very long time to arrive. And the space is... awkward. It's long and narrow, which can't be avoided, but consequently the brightly lit open kitchen at the back glares out into the dining space at that end. Some kind of divider would improve the feng shui. Bottom line: give it a few months!
The server was very friendly. Food was delicious. I had the Shrimp PoBoy with fries and my husband had Trout Almondine.
LOVED the Brussel sprout salad , amazing and so was the Mac and cheese
Great food - creative menu - good wine selections. Disappointed that the fit and finish weren’t as “upscale” as the food deserves (eg paper napkins vs linen; melamine plates vs China). Good service - definitely will be back!
Good food, ok service, I’ll go back for sure. Its a very cute place and my only complaint is that they ran out of beignets.
The Thursday Special is awesome. The fries were the best!!!
We really wanted to like this place, but I am a bit torn on it after our first visit. First, the website says "fast casual" and "order at the counter type place" but they actually take reservations, it is NOT order at the counter, and it is ANYTHING but fast. One the plus side, the drinks were good, including local brews and spirits, although the wine menu is a bit limited. The appetizers were very good- we all really enjoyed the crispy brussel sprouts salad, and a companion from Louisiana said it was some of the best gumbo she has had outside of the state. For the main courses, it was a mixed bag. The burger was large and full of flavor, and the fries were well done, but another companion's grilled cheese was inedible- it arrived looking very dark and tasted like burnt grease (maybe it should have been billed as "blackened grilled cheese). The shrimp po' boy was just ok, as was the coq au vin. The biggest issue was that the food took an inordinate amount of time to arrive. The server kept coming back to apologize for the wait, and finally someone who might have been a manager but did not introduce herself came over after the food arrived to ask if it were ok, but we never figured out what took so long. The place is small., and everyone else appeared to be waiting a long time, as well. We will give it one more chance, but I might play it safe and stick with the burger.
Wonderful food and amazing service. Thank you for great time!
Simple and delightful. We took our family and everyone was impressed with their individual meals. The staff was engaged but didn't hover. We were presently surprised with the whole experience.
