McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Reston

Brought clients for a holiday meal and they were very pleased. My only bit of constructive feedback is around your special cocktails. We were a party of five and four of us had specialty cocktails. We were told they take a little more time, but we thought it meant a moment or two. I think by the time the fourth cocktail was created and delivered, it was close to 15-18 minutes, and the ice had melted in my drink. So, not a big deal, but perhaps double-up on the mixologists when multiple cocktails are ordered.
I would have given you a 5-star rating, except the service was not quite up to par - very slow in checking back to see if we needed anything.
Harto is the best waiter. He takes very good care of us when we dine there
Service by 2 waiters was uncoordinated, uneven and less than acceptable. The fish dishes were very good. Unfortunately, the filets we ordered were awful. Though properly done (medium rare), they were tough and full of inedible and unchewable gristle. They were definitely NOT filets.
Great dinner experience!
Very nice location and a very polite waitress
Overall everything was good but the vegatables should have been steamed a little more not raw especially the potatoes and I wasn't a fan of the desert.
We hadn’t been to McCormick in years because the last time we went, the service at the bar was so terrible that we waited over 30 minutes for a drink and could hardly get service again.
We went for Thanksgiving this year, and the service started off poorly again. We waited ten minutes for someone to come by, and then ended up asking the woman who seated us to get us bread at least. My MiL is hypoglycemic and wasn’t feeling well by the time we got it. The server forgot an appetizer, and the bill took a long time to come after we asked for it.
Considering how expensive this restaurant is, the experience should be better.
My family chose this restaurant in lieu of cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time in over 15 years. We enjoy M&S Grill so much and decided to upscale a little for a special occasion. I made reservations on OpenTable and we showed up about 25 min early. I checked in at the front and apologized for being early. They told me the could possibly seat me early but it could be 20 minutes maximum. My family went and sat in the waiting area and watched everyone in the waiting area get seated before us including a number of walk-ins. It was near 5 pm which was the time for our original reservation when the woman finally came and asked my name again. She then proceeded to walk us as far back into the restaurant as possible I am sure because we were not in suits and dresses (I wore a button down shirt with jeans, wife and daughter had on nice blouses with nice jeans) but I don't let things like that bother me. We were seated and looking over the menu when the waiter came and took our drink order, upon returning with drinks he took our food order. It was at this point the night took a turn for the worse. We were never offered any bread and noticed constant service for the larger tables where we sat and waited patiently. We got soup and salad and then didn't see our waiter again for at least 20...well, we saw him, but he was busy with the large group to our right. He finally brought our main dishes out but I had to ask for the wine I had ordered and for a soda refill for my wife. The food was great as expected, my steak was tender and flavorful. We looked forward to dessert! We waited for our waiter to return...and waited... My wife said "Maybe we should get the dessert to take home." Yea, that would have been nice. But after waiting more we decided to just get the bill and leave. I'm very understanding of people working on holidays but the attention that was given to all the other tables overshadowed my intent to leave an extra large tip (would have been around $45).
We celebrated Thanksgiving at McCormick & Schmick’s in Reston. The restaurant was busy but we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation. Service was friendly and timely. Turkey dinner was tasty and ample. We ended up taking almost half home for another meal. My husband had crab/shrimp stuffed salmon which he really enjoyed. Overall a great experience.
I’ll cut them some slack as it was thanksgiving, but with a reservation it took mire than 30 minutes to seat us at an alternate table in the back then service was incredibly slow ..from getting us water to taking our order all the way through getting a desert nenu to getting desert.
Kevin was our server and he was excellent. Plus, they seated us so FAST when we arrived and the greeting team was very welcoming. Shrimp cocktails perfect; the folks who had the Thanksgiving dinner loved it and I loved my salmon and the mixed vegetable medley they made. Compliments to all and thanks for giving us a Happy Thanksgiving dinner!
Great mix of traditional Thanksgiving for plus seafood and dessert. Great service and fine crowed with easy parking nearby. The food was tasty and the ambience was outstanding. Overall a great value for the money soent
Great place for a dinner for two all the way up to a family holiday dinner. Love McCormick & Schmick's!
Very nice Thanksgiving special.
It is one of our favorite restaurants and the added touches celebrating my husband's birthday were wonderful. Thank you to the staff
We had a wonderful time at M&S - food, ambiance and service were all top-notch. I spoke with the manager after making our reservation, as we really wanted to make it special for my father. They arranged special menus with his name & the occasion printed on it, and we had a fantastic spot, almost our own private area. We were early in the evening, so they even were amenable to turning down the background music in our area as my father is hard of hearing.
The appetizers, salads and mixed drinks were fantastic - I have a new favorite in the Rye Chocolate fashioned (photo will be attached to this review). Delicious! Moreover, the steaks were perfect! We all were very specific in how we wanted our steaks, and the waiter got all the little details right. She hovered just the right amount - not too much so we got annoyed, and she certainly turned up when we started to get low on our drinks or perhaps dropped our napkins. We shared the sides, and there was enough for all of us to eat our fill.
All in all, this was a perfect evening for all of us, and we highly recommend this M&S in particular. Wonderful service and very attentive management.
Very good overall. Poorly cooked steak was the only detractor
We have a private and quiet booth in the back and our waitress made the night memorable for us. We were there to discuss business and so they gave us a booth without even asking and we needed it.
My daughter and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner on a recent Saturday night. We both had the tenderloin and crab cake, and it was outstanding. We couldn't decide on wine so the waiter brought us a taste to try. It was a warm, relaxed environment. We were not rushed at all. Highly recommend.
The service was quite bad, which is very unusual for M&S. We were there over 20 minutes before the server came by, it was an hour before they were able to take our order, service was incredibly slow, not attentive at all the duration of the meal. We came in before 7:30pm, and were one of the last tables to leave. The restaurant overall was not that busy, but for whatever reason the whole experience dragged on.
Great food, great service! Staff made us feel like family! Veterans meal made for an extra special Veterans Day!
Love the restaurant's dedication to Veterans. Impressive. We had tasty salmon and a great bottle of wine. Beware of the tenderloin tips as they were tough and not tender. Oysters and service were good.
The establishment is in a dire need for a remod. The carpet, table, utensils are very old and worn out. The food is ok, but overpriced in my opinion. Some of the waitress were very good but we had a dud. She could barley speak English, didn’t give good service until she knew we were leaving her a good tip.
I’m not sure if I will be going back here in the future.
The food was not very good. Small amount of food and poor taste.
Very nice staff all around. Ambience is nice. Before I get to the night gritty - have their signature dessert - it's some chocolate bag with cream. It is one of the best desserts I have ever had!! Go for that.
The meal - meh. It wasn't terrible but nothing worth noting, and for those prices I would hope it was going to be good. Both the chicken and the salmon were on the dry side. 😕
The bread pudding.....do a big pass on that one....and their way over priced sangria.
We may give it another shot next year and just hope we had caught the cooks on an off night.
Veterans Day
Service was slow and inattentive by the waiter. Otherwise, a pleasant experience. The free veterans meal shows that they support our troops and veterans.
Terrific restaurant, always good service and great food.
Great appreciation event for veteran's on 10 Nov 19. We were seated n the back at a round table for 6 - so we were easily able to easily talk as we shared tasty meals. Great service. Had three different staff serving us but staff was quickly able to divide out the checks.
Veterans Day Honor
Every Veteran's Day, McCormick and Schmick's offers free entrees for veteran's. This year was no different. The food and service were wonderful. The respect and honor they show for those that served makes me a return customer throughout the year. Thanks again McCormick and Schmick's!
Great service and food. Had the cedar plank salmon and it was cooked perfectly.
Thank you for the Veterans Day meal. Good service, awesome food and nice pleasant atmosphere.
Great service from the manager, Ryan, and the rest of the staff. Top notch dinner.
The food was very good, but the kitchen was slow (probably due to the Veterans' Day promotion, so it's all good). Our waitress was so nice and apologetic about how long it took to get our meal and comped us some food as a result. Surprisingly the women's room was not in great condition - one of the stall doors didn't lock, one stall was out of service, and the Dyson hand dryers were filthy. Other than that, it was great. We were grateful for the free food they gave the Vets that day.
With it being Veterans Day it was VERY. crowded & loud...we are glad we had a reservation. Food was very good & our server was excellent. She was extremely busy but never showed any frustration...she was very professional. Overall it was very good.
Veteran’s Day special “Appreciation Dinner”.
We very much appreciate M&S doing this each year. THANK YOU, McCormick & Schmick’s!
I know their service is normally better than it was today. They were swamped today - and they did their best. Thank you M&S staff fir your hard work to make this day special! Much appreciated.
Dinner was great. It was busy because of the Veteran's Day free entree discount. But the server was very slow and never checked on the table. That is the only negative of this experience. The food was great, the wine was great, and I couldn't ask for a better place to eat. This is the first time I have ever had server problems and did notify the manager.
Thank you for your Service to Our Veterans!!! We had an amazing night :D
