McGrath's Fish House - Vancouver
Enjoyed our family dinner! Thank you for a wonderful 1st experience here. Definitely will be back!
Food was good. Waitress lost our credit card. Manager sorry, compt dinner but we had to lock the card and get a new one.
Our waitress was obviously doing more than her fair share of work but never were we neglected. Had a great time.
Food was pretty good, but kind of short on amount. Service was excellent & so was the atmosphere.
Very slow service, small booth for 4 adults and 2 tweens. Food came out slow, cold, burnt. Drinks were empty for 20 minutes. I understand everyone is short handed but not impressed! Dinner took 2 hours at the table after waiting 15 minutes for table even with reservation. That’s a long time for the kiddo stuck in a booth. Should have had a table!
This place used to be good. Unfortunately I can’t say the same after dining there recently. Very slow service, out of many items, what was finally served was close to cold, dry, and lacked flavor. I know lots of places are having trouble with staffing but some manage by seating only as many as they can cook for and serve; this place clearly did not.
The food and service are always excellent at this location. They are willing to make the allowed substations without hesitation to make your meal the way you like it. Our server was very attentive.
We ate in the bar but the staffing was not as good as two weeks ago. The bartender was serving tables as well as drinks so every portion of the meal was SLOOOOOOW!
When the chowder and bread first course were served, it had been sitting out long enough to form a "skin" on the surface. When our entrees arrived (captain's platters) the fettuccine was literally cold on the bottom and everything but the coleslaw was lukewarm at best. It was so not hot we sent it all back. It took an extra 20 minutes to get replacements. At least there was a football game on to watch.
Stuffed salmon was really good, appetizers were great. Service was great in the beginning, then dropped off to having to wave different staff members for things. A couple of our side dishes, soup and a salad came home in Togo containers because they didn’t make it to our table. Overall I would go back for the food :) It has definitely improved since last time we went there about 9 months ago.
The food had been pre-cooked and refrigerated, or frozen, and then re-heated. So it wasn't that good. If it's not made fresh by a chef for you, it just isn't as good. And the prices are high at this place, so they should hire cooks to do it fresh. The waitress tried to rush us out, clearly toward the end of her shift, before we could get a chance to order dessert. Also she mixed up some of our order.
Good food good service and very reasonable prices. Get the Fisherman’s Platter.
I ordered my usual halibut fish and chips. My salad was very good. When the fish and fries were served I was very disappointed. The breading was very thick which caused the fish not to be completely cooked inside. I alerted the waitress and she offered to bring me another order (I had ordered three pieces) to take home as I didn't eat the raw fish on my plate. When I opened the sack with the "to go" order there was a bunch of french fries and only lonely piece of halibut. I left the bag and told her that I expected a replacement order, not one measly piece of fish. It will be a long time before we return. Unfortunate as we are regulars.
We've been here many times. Always excellent and ALWAYS start with the crab stuffed mushroom appetizer! This time for entrees went with the Cajun pan fried oysters which where creamy and smooth as silk and Rockfish New Orleans - killer! Perfect dishes to share. We've never had anything but great food here.
We feel McGrath's is far superior to Red Lobster or any other fish house in Vancouver, except for Red Lobster cheese biscuits lol. Though we haven't gone in years and make them at home now...
Best meal out we've had in recent history. Fish and shrimp cooked to perfection. Veggies, too. Hope the one closer to home is as good as the on in Vancouver!
Food was great and very reasonably priced. Service was a bit slow on a seemingly quiet evening. Waiter forgot to bring a second beverage that was ordered, or it would have been 5 stars overall. I miss the location that was in Milwaukie!
My wife and I love McGrath's Fish House, having eaten here many times over the many years we have lived in Vancouver. However, this visit sadly disappointed us, not good tasting food, not properly prepared or even served. As they say, three strikes and your out. It will be a long time until we return to this restaurant. Hopefully they will be able to return to their former selves, a much, much better restaurant.
Our experience there was wonderful. The only issue we had was that our appetizer came after we were served our salad and soup. We also went early and yet they had already run out of their special dessert.
The seafood was delicious and tasted fresh. The service was outstanding, and the cost was well within our budget. We will definitely return.
It’s a great place to eat. They have very good food.
This was a birthday dinner celebration for my husband’s turning 76. I made a reservation letting them know it was his birthday. The waitress made a mistake on his order (he dislikes snow crab). When his dinner was served he told the server it was not what he ordered. When the waitress came to check on us he told her that it wasn’t the dinner he wanted. He was offered to also received the dinner he ordered along with what was served. He felt this was wasteful. He did not want me to let the manager know as he just wanted a non stressful dinner.
I just wish SOMEONE would have taken ownership for the wrong meal and that the manager stop by our table.
Already let family and friends know how disappointed we were! Definitely not the birthday dinner I wanted for my husband!
First time going there.. Most definitely going back
I've eaten a few times here, and the food has been pretty good, as well as the service. Last time for a party of six, the wait between dishes has been excruciatingly slow, even though there were very few other diners. The server was nice and friendly, and apologized for the delays due to some training (?) going on in the kitchen along with limited staffing. I definitely want to come back, but maybe wait a few months until staffing issues have been resolved.
our dinner experience was excellent. our server was cordial and efficient and the food was delicious
We had outstanding service from our waiter and supporting help. The food was awesome and a great value for the money.
Attentive waiter. Nice outdoor seating. Good chowder and salad. Entrees & vegetables overcooked and blah. Wine selection lousy!!
We took my husband’s granddaughter’s out for a nice dinner it was a blast!! Food was good and the service was even better!!
The service, food and ambience was very good. Like so many dining establishments in the U.S., the portions are much too large leading to a shameful waste of food and obesity! When dining out with my wife or a friend, I frequently split an order and find that more than adequate. Understanding that splitting is not the norm, offering a smaller amount for 15% less cost would suit many patrons, be less wasteful and encourage moderation rather than volume.
Really great and delicious food
Always a delight to dine at McGraths! This was our first time back since the pandemic started, and I was so happy to see that everything was as I remembered. The atmosphere is soothing and comfortable, without the loud voice levels that seem to dominate some newer restaurants these days. The menu had many great choices, and every element was delicious. Good value, pleasant and attentive staff. Just what I want when I dine out. Thank you, McGraths and here's to many more great meals!
A diverse menu with some interesting preparations of fish dishes. A great selection of sides, like Brussels sprouts and grilled zucchini. I am so tired of fries and coleslaw! Nice environment. We were happy we could get in with last minute reservations, we didn't realize you couldn't eat anywhere in Portland without a reservation.
Servers were professional, food and ambience outstanding.
I asked for a quiet place since I was meeting long-time friends. We had a very quiet place with a lovely, considerate but never intrusive waitress. Food was delicious and very happy to have shown off the Vancouver location.
We go to McGraff's fairly often but last night was so disappointing. Service was very slow. We sat for quite some time with no service, not even a glass of water. When we finally got our dinner the french fries were stone cold. No apology, just took them away. New fries came much later. Dinner served in courses spoiled it for us.
No reduction in our bill, no apology, no visit from the manager, etc. Very disappointing. We won't return for a while hoping that they improve their food and service.
Food as always excellent. Our waitress tried really hard to do the job of two or three people. Guess with the unemployment benefits being to high, restaurants can't find any employees.
Everything was great except they were out of wedge salads
One of my favorites..........I've never been disappointed.
The food was very good, in fact it seems to have improved lately. Seating was handled well. The waitress Madison was very helpful and attentive.
This was our second time at McGrath's and we were not disappointed. Seafood nicely cook, wait staff attentive, as delicious as the first time we went.
Love it. Great food
The Dungeness crab legs were why we went to this restaurant, but they're very obviously previously frozen and that was a huge disappointment in taste. I had the Seafood Astoria and it was a strange piece of white fish that was previously breaded, but then topped with this mash of supposedly fresh Dungeness crab and mushrooms in a cream sauce. The fish breading was rubbery. We met a relative here visiting from out of state, who wanted PNW seafood, so we looked up places serving Dungeness crab legs and ended up here. If we would have looked at the reviews of this location, we would have realized they weren't that great. When we left, their huge green dumpsters had been moved to the middle of the parking lot, almost directly behind two other cars, and they completely blocked the entrance that we came in. We were able to drive out the other entrance/exit, but it was just strange that they were completely blocking the parking lot entry, and it was 9pm, so not exactly garbage pickup time.
