   Very mediocre food. I had avocado toast with an egg on top. It sucked eggs. The "toast" was not toasted but grilled on stale, reused (multiple times) grill-oil, which imparted foul, spoiled tastes. And the thin film of avocado paste on the "toast" had nothing added to it, no piquancy. Seldom have I had such bad food served.

   After many good experiences for breakfast, this is the first poor one. Had eggs Benedict. My eggs were over poached, there was very little hollandaise, and the potatoes were dry and tough as if they’d been cooked the day before. Our coffee was never refilled until we received our check, which was 1 check instead of the 2 requested.

   I had the eggs Benedict - delicious. My friends had pancakes and Norwegian eggs Benedict. Both loved it.

   I had the sturgeon. Our guest had the pork. Both were outstanding. We got a little behind in service as we didn't connect with our guest promptly. But from that point, service was good.

   We were staying at the hotel that night and were looking forward to a "fine dining" experience and this was not it. My wine glass was obviously not washed before serving me and while our pretzel & fondue appetizer was delicious, my gnocchi dish was barely palatable. It was just an odd combination that just didn't work texturally. We enjoyed our cocktails though! Our server was nit very attentive and didn't check in on us much.

   The wild boar was outstanding. The server’s suggestion for wine was perfect. Reduced by one star because the food was lukewarm when it arrived. A different server brought our plates saying “are you the ones who ordered the wild boar?” So apparently the plates had been sitting for awhile. Otherwise everything was perfect.

   Went on valentines day expecting a good menu... the food lacked basic seasoning, restaurant was overpacked and service took and hour for appetizers and another hour for main course Will not be going back

    We actually didn’t eat at Black Rabbit. It was really expensive so we left and went to the Power Station pub instead. Much better choice for our budget.

    It’s always frustrating to watch tables who come in after you get served before you as well as get assurances that your order is on its way…except it isn’t. I had also clicked that we were celebrating a birthday, but I’m not sure why. It wasn’t acknowledged or anything. And didn’t positively impact our experience.

    My family had a lot to celebrate between birthdays and an engagement, we had a great time! The “When Figs Fly” cocktail was one of my favorites I’ve ever had. The poutine was amazing too. Our server was so nice and made us feel taken care of despite him being the only one in charge of a ton of tables.

    Our server was excellent and the food was delicious! But we made a reservation for 7pm for our anniversary, arrived 12 minutes early and was asked to wait the extra 12 minutes by the host. We were more than happy to wait, understanding that we had arrived early. We waited until 5 minutes after 7:00 to remind the host we were there. We waited behind a walk-in group of two that was promptly seated in the dining room, we waiting behind a party of 7 (who wasn’t fully there) that had a reservation for 7:00 (arrived at 7:08) to be promptly seated in the dining room. We waited patiently until ten minutes after our original reservation, twenty minutes after our arrival, behind several parties that arrived after us, just for the host to come back and seat us at the open seating bar. Trying to make it seem like she was doing us a favor, when she had clearly forgotten about us with little to no regard for our special occasion. It was frustrating to have to wait an additional twenty minutes after being seated to have our drink order taken, but that was not our server’s fault. Normally would not write such a novel about things like this, but it was beyond frustrating to have been punished like that for our patience and understanding!

    Visiting Edgefield is always an experience. The Black Rabbit is always good. Our server was great. Food was great. A fun place to bring visitors.

    We had a really great waiter and really yum food. It was really busy that weekend, so it was a bit loud, but always lovely to eat there. I do think some of the items are overpriced, but that’s what you get when you go to a nice restaurant in an amazing venue.

    I remember a dining experience at the Black Rabbit on Christmas Day, which consisted of white tablecloths & a set table, I suppose they are catering to their dressed down clientele! The food is very good, the service could have been better, but it was busy! Love Edgefield thou’ great character!

    My only negatives are that the music was inappropriate and too loud. It was Christmas Day & the music was Rock & Roll and too energetic & loud. And, the soup course took too long to get to us, and then the dinner plates got served before we’d even gotten 1/2 way thru the soup, and now we had a crowded table of soup bowls doubled up with dinner plates.

    We enjoyed the Black Rabbit at Thanksgiving so much, we decided to have our Christmas dinner. What a great decision! The prime rib dinner was excellent, our server (Paige) was great and the dessert choices were solid. The Black Widow porter topped it all off. I love what McMenamins does to the historic properties - the vibe was spot on for a cold, icy holiday. Thanks!

    Reservation was for 12:00 Xmas.. tried to locate the menu, but couldn’t ( website impossible). Xmas dinner started at 2:00, so could only order prime rib.. had to ask for bread, etc while waiting for over 30 minutes just to order the main dish. 2 orders of prime rib, turkey, sandwich, and a couple drinks, and one salad… 175.00+ Never again!!!!!!
