Mia's Cantina

Food is always good, did not have our regular waiter, but server was very good and attentive.
Great food and service. Music a little loud hard to have conversation.
This was our first time at Mia's and we came away extremely please with our experience. The food was very good as was the service.
The food was excellent. The service was great except that all my food (soup and entree) came at once and that felt very rushed. The excessive volume of the music made conversation, and hearing the server, mostly impossible. I will be back for lunch but not for a weekend dinner. Thank you
Great place for delicious food. It's very small, but we were seated promptly. Our group had enchiladas, carne asada tacos and burrito. Burritos are large, the steak is wonderful and everything was perfect.
We love Mia's Cantina. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. The guacamole is fantastic! My husband enjoyed the shrimp taco special recommended by our server and I had the skirt steak fajitas which were wonderful. We are never disappointed when we eat at Mia's!
They seem to be understaffed every time we go, so service is slow. But food and margaritas are great.
Always good service and tasty food. Clearly a spot to return to!
Very good food. Small seating area. Server was very attentive. Carnitas were spectacular.
Not crowded at lunch time. Highly recommend the fish tacos.
The restaurant was very nice, clean, a friendly staff, and the food was wonderful, the only problem was that it was so loud that I could not hear the people I was dining with. When I say loud, I mean really loud. The temperature was about 85 degrees that evening, or we would have sat outside. We wanted to stay for dessert, but instead went to another restaurant.
Very nice intimate dining experience. Pleasant staff. Good food
Decent food, good drinks. Chips and ceviche are the favs for us. I asked if I should get the tacos or carne asada. Of course the server recommended the more expensive dish instead of asking a few more questions. It was too much food and the corn tortillas were waaay too greasy. That aside, we like the place but I guess my recommendation is to avoid recommendations since in my most recent experience the server may not be recommending something you would enjoy, only what will increase their tip. We still like it for decent, not spectacular, Mexican food. Although the ceviche is REALLY good!
Always consistent for food, drinks and service. Love Mia’s!
Mia’s in the summer knocks it out of the park as usual. Our reservation was honored and only a short wait. Spent that at the small bar because Mia’s bartenders make the best margaritas outside of Tulum. The food is always fresh and made correctly. We had 2 vegetarians / 2 vegans in our party and no trouble ordering. Mia’s is great about subbing grilled vegetables instead of meats in dishes too.
Only concern is indoor noise level is too high for our hearing. But it’s perfect outside.
Our favorite restaurant in the NW suburbs. Thank you Mia’s!!
Great food!
The best thing on their menu is carne en su jugo. It exceptionally better than anything else on their menu. I could just got there for that and skip everything else.
The food was average. The margaritas were poor. The noise level was intolerable. It was not a “bad” experience overall but there is no reason to go back when there are so many better Mexican restaurants in the area. The staff was very nice though and the service was very good.
It was our first time and the place is cute- it’s your neighborhood ‘joint’. The hostess who was working that night (blond hair) is a super hard worker- you can tell she cares about her job, definitely an asset to the establishment.
Food was good (we had steak tacos), the queso dip- not so much, would not order again.
Overall we were satisfied, will be back.
This has been our favorite Mexican restaurants. Slightly disappointed tonight. Met friends for dinner and being a beautiful evening, we sat outside. Service was extremely slow. We had to ask for drinks, waited a long time for our margaritas to be served. Our server didn't come to take a dinner order--we had to call her over. We asked for flour tortillas but got corn. Water glasses were never refilled. And we had to ask for our check. It was an off night for sure.
Mia's Cantina never disappoints! Everything is so fresh and tasty. The chips are unique as they appear to be freshly fried flour tortilla chips rather than corn tortilla chips out of a bag. Definitely order the guacamole right away so that you can enjoy it with your chips and salsa. In the past I have enjoyed the steak burrito and the fish tacos. This thimhe I went low carb with the carnitas entree. I asked for salad greens in place of the rice and beans. The lettuce came topped with fresh pico de gallo and guacamole.
My husband enjoyed the carne asada tacos while my cousin enjoyed the taco salad.
The place is small so best for parties if two- four. We are looking forward to their opening in the new Wheeling entertainment district!
Local favorite for Mexican food. Always delicious.
The hostess was great. The restaurant is a little small inside and pretty loud. The server we had forgot a few things and was pretty slow. Didn't check on us much. The food was just okay. For the price I'd expect a little better.
Excellent food arrives almost TOO quickly but understandable since they need a fast turnover in this very small space. The wait staff is incredibly attentive with refills and checking on us. The margaritas are excellent. As a vegetarian I never have a problem ordering here and they accommodate special requests such as vegetarian fajitas that are not explicitly on the menu. Every course was fantastic and my only dislike is that the sound level is way too noisy and it is too small to accommodate all of the guests who wish to eat here. I am hopeful that Mia’s can expand its space or move to a nearby location. If they did we would go much more often. (No problem with street parking FYI)
Delicious food, service was a bit uneven and not especially hospitable or patient. Understandably it was a Friday dinner rush, but don’t let that get away from management to focus on guest experience. Still little area to wait and had to weave thru people to leave which is part of the charm and downside to this location. Will come again despite the ambivalent servers.
Worst customer service! The food at Mia's Cantina is very good, however, the service that I experienced today was the complete opposite. While dining with my husband, I wanted to order a veggie burrito. I asked the waitress, with the yellow colored contact lenses, what vegetables were in a veggie burrito. The waitress listed lettuce, rice, cheese and peppers. I asked if I could add beans and sour cream. She said it was no problem. When the burrito arrived, I cut into it and it was loaded with zucchini, corn and refried beans. There was no sour cream or any of the other ingredients she told me. When I told her I didn't like the veggies that were inside she offered to get me something else. I then ordered carne asada tacos which were delicious. When the bill came, she charged me for the tacos AND the burrito I had sent back. When My husband asked her why the burrito was on the bill, she explained to my husband that she will not take it off bc since she served it to us, she would have to pay for it. Being the place was getting busy, we didn't want to make a scene so we paid the bill, left no tip and plan to never return.
There was nothing special of food or place. Food was NOT authentic Mexican. Drinks were ok too. Small place and it was crowded and noisy.
Everything was great except the reservation. It was for 6:00 and when we arrived and checked in we stood next to an open table for ten minutes. Then another worker said to please sit at that table.
We dined, paid and left in about 45 minutes. Felt rushed. But the service, food, and atmosphere was great.
Hidden jewel , couldn’t really give it 5 stars... will have to go back again and make that decision at a later time .... all is not lost, our table had a new waitress and that had a lot to do with the rating . I will try again in the future.
Nice variety on menu. Delicious food. Great service. Very good value.
Mia's is a great place for good Mexican food. Their guacamole is outstanding, it has a very fresh flavor and can be made to your spice level. The food is always fresh and tasty. The portions are appropriate and you get a great value for your money.
The Skirt Steak was very good you get no rice with it though which was very weird to me. I actually ordered the Camarones w/Morita Sauce...now for the price they charge it's not worth it at all. The noise level in there was brutal...very hard to hear each other.
Two of the items we wanted to order they did not have. The drinks were quite pricey for their size… But they were delicious! A very loud place if you want to go and talk with friends.
Best part of the meal with a chips salsa and guacamole – outstanding!
Great food and great service. The dining room was a little loud, but overall we had a great experience. Definitely would recommend
We love Mia’s! The service is always friendly and attentive. The menu is creative and the food is fresh and always good!
First time there, was amazing!
I love Mia's for the great Mexican food and friendly staff. Amazing margaritas and good specials. Enjoy sitting at the bar for a few drinks and quick delicious meal.
My husband and I are always looking for a good Mexican restaurant and this by far is the best in the Chicagoland area! The shrimp tacos were fresh and delicious along with the chicken fajitas! ... and the fried ice cream was to die for! The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. The ambiance charming. Highly recommend...
The food and drink are always good and the service is great!
Food was phenomenal ! Very flavorful and fresh. Service was fantastic as well. Thanks for a great dining experience!
