Mickey Finns Brewery
Natural gas-fired. No eggs were used or harmed to make our pizza dough
Jazz Hands IPA Imperial / Double New England
Go big or go home. Our most extravagant IPA to date. Copious amounts of Galaxy, Citra and Lotus hops laid over a big smooth malt background. Passionfruit, mango and citrus flavors dominate with note of pine and a slight vanilla character. Big, smooth and bursting with hop flavor and aroma. We can't help but use our hands talking about it.
Tropical fruit salad hop aromas burst from the glass, followed by a luscious sweet malt flavor on the tongue. An outrageous quantity of hops was used in this ale, predominantly of the Liberty variety. Dry hopped with Citra. No pineapples were harmed during the production of this beer. And yes, it is that strong. Style: Double IPA; Alcohol by Volume: 8.70%; Color: pale; Flavor: hop, and more hop, citrus, floral; Aroma: floral - 8.8% abv
Overall a good steady reliable place to eat. Can’t beat their two for one Wednesday hamburger special! Thanks, I’ll be back as I have been for almost 40 years!
Booked a table for dinner knowing there was a band playing later. This is a great place for live music on the weekends.
I would go here more often but the parking situation is really awkward. I liked the old location better.
Fantastic in every way! Amber is an asset, providing timely service and menu suggestions.
Amanda is the only reason I come here.
First time being here. Was a good place to eat and enjoy some drinks. Would attend again.
Waitress Alley was rude and slow!
Perfect pizza and beer. Loved the live music.
Always the best time at Mickey Finns! 😍
Great food and ambiance. We went for drinks and apps and sat outside. Very pretty with the fire pit and lights strung up.
They had live music during our visit. We actually stayed longer than we had planned after dinner and enjoyed another beer. Band was great.
Overall service was good good place for early dinner with kids.
Pizza and drinks were great. Amanda was our server and she was very hospitable.
The food was good. Ordered the giant pretzel thinking it was about the size of a small pizza but it was more like the size of a large pizza. Kind of felt like the server could have mentioned that when we ordered but the pretzel itself was very good. Would get again. They seemed to get a lunch rush between noon and 1:30pm but even before and after that our server wasn’t very attentive. After we ate we planned to stick around for a few more drinks. When she came to take our plants and asked if we were ready for the check we told her we were going to order a few more drinks. She acknowledged it and walked away. After sometime she came back with the check, dropped it off and hurried away. We had to wait another 15 or 20 minutes before she came back and we let her know we still wanted to order more drinks. After she brought us the drinks she again disappeared and didn’t come by again until we flagged her down for the check.
Made a reservation. Had to wait about 15 mins for table to be ready, not a problem. When we were seated the hostess asked if we would be done in a hour and a half because they had another reservation coming in. We made a reservation because of the live entertainment that night. We were taken back by that. Live entertainment on website stated it started at 8pm but didn't start until 9:30pm. We ordered a pizza and were not impressed at all. Steak sandwich was excellent though! Waiter took forever just to refill drinks. Overall we were not thrilled with our experience.
The waiter was horrible and the music was too loud. Mask wearing was inconsistent and the place was packed.
Even though posted, little to zero social distancing on tables and bar seating at 5PM on a Sat. Very crowded.
Overall the only thing missing was the
Service. Our server took the order and never returned until we got the check.
A+ on food quality & ambiance!! The southwest salad was amazing and the pizza was great as usual!
Good food and service. I'll just wait until the pandemic is completely gone before returning to this establishment.
Great all you can eat Friday night fish fry as always!
Great Bar, Live Music, Good Food, Good Drinks, and Good Vibes!
What more do you want?
It was great to be out. It was on the crowded side but they have such a large job and tables are situated in a way that we were still spaced apart. Great job Mickey Finns!
Pastor Tacos were not my favorite -- at all!! Tortilla shells were dry, meat was 1/2 fat and it had Pineapple in it (menu does not state this). Never would have ordered if i knew that. No salsa was included or offered.
Burger was pretty good but had to wait a while for server to come back to get catsup and mustard.
Got a table in the alley. People at the next table had been overserved and were loud and brash, and sitting too close (social distancing, anyone?) Waiter brought diet Coke instead of regular. We asked for him to exchange it, which he did after he swore it was regular Coke. My wife took a sip and said "thank you - much better." The waiter responded "Well it came out of the same tap as the other one," and walked away. Never came back. When another server delivered our food, he left so quickly that we didn't get a chance to ask for ketchup for our fries. Waited a while, but nobody came into the alley for a while, so I went to the bar to get it myself. Food was OK, but so is McDonalds when you think about it.
Mickey Finn's provides good food, a great selection of beers and friendly service, all within the confines of covid protocol. We were happy to make a reservation ahead of time, making it easy to maintain social distance in a comfortable atmosphere.
Great restaurant with a wide variety of food to choose from. Excellent beer and good drinks too! Would highly recommend for couples, families, friends.....
Always great, but servers don’t know much about the beer
First time at this location and we were absolutely pleased with everything. Great food and absolutely fantastic service
Staff is fantastic. Drinks on point. Friendly place.
The hostess was short and not very friendly. We were seated out in the patio and I asked if we could have an indoor table. There were several available. She said, “no those were all reserved” and walked away. We had reservations too and there was no where to select indoor versus outdoor. We like the restaurant because of the atmosphere and sitting outside there is no atmosphere. Very disappointed. However, the food tasted great, and the waiter was fantastic!
Excellent experience out in the patio. Well heated—did not need a coat on a very cold night. Our server was great—noticed the music was a bit loud and asked us if we wanted it turned down. Beer selection was solid—I enjoyed a Can I Kick It New England IPA and a Pineapple Express DIPA, both on draft (some selections are only available in cans). We did not have food. Had not been there in a while—very pleased.
Great food, great beer, very good service.........
Mickey Finn's has the best beer on tap in Libertyville. And, the bartenders make excellent mixed drinks. This is why we go here. The food is OK. We had pizza which is not the best in town but the beer is.
Given these difficult times, a certain latitude is expected, however, once this is "over", Mickey Finn's needs to get its act together. Food was awful! Gumbo was cold, gluey and the shrimp and chicken were non existent. The burgers were dry, buns were hard and it looked like they just put a slice of cold Velveta on top. Our server was very nice. We tipped well. We didn't complain so it wasn't his issue. Also, were made a reservation and requested inside seating. We were were placed on a freezing porch area. When we asked to be moved because we had children who were cold, we were given attitude. I will try this restaurant again but not for a long, long time. As for recommending them, I'd wait awhile.
Ate inside for lunch. Chicken quesadilla was really good. Friendly staff. Quick service
For an Irish pub, the Shepherd's Pie was awful! More like soup covered in mashed potatoes with hardly any meat. The door kept being left open to the cold patio - not totally their fault due to the ridiculous Covid restrictions, but could have been more vigilant about closing it behind them. Most importantly, our friend took a sip of his drink only to find something crunchy on the rim that he thought was from the lime - but it was glass because the rim was cracked! NOT a good experience, and even though they tried to make up for it by giving us a $25 gift card - I probably will not use it.
we sat outside under the covered patio with the fire pit going and the snow falling; very nice atmosphere and pretty good menu
Hostess needed training- very young with poor communication skills. Kept disappearing without letting us know what she was doing.
Had outdoor reservations but needed to wait for seating to be dried from an earlier rain and heat lamps to be turned on. Was promised a table heat lamp but it to 3 reminders to get it.
Food took a long time to get to the table and was not very good.
Waiters and bus boys were very nice and attentive with making sure that we stayed warm and had everything we needed
