What a wonderful evening!
We came in on a Sunday and the place was slammed for a Sunday night so no fault of the wait staff they were overwhelmed but did their best considering
Food was very average. Crab
Best dessert ever!! We lover our dinner! Save room for dessert. They are a work of art.
Food was good. Service was spotty. They kept trying to take our dishes before we were finished.
Food was good but took forever. The server was apologetic about it. Our meals were really good and we enjoyed it but it took way too long to get the entrees out.
We were there on a busy holiday weekend (Valentine’s Day and President’s Day) so perhaps our experience wasn’t the norm, but... First, we had reservations and when we arrived there was a line with 4-5 other parties waiting to check in. The line moved very slowly, and it took 15 minutes just to get to the hostess stand. It wasn’t clear if these other parties had reservations or if they were putting their name on a wait list, but it didn’t make sense that it would take so long to get to the hostess. Once we did, we were seated promptly. Service was fairly attentive, although our waiter did disappear at times. The first two things my husband tried to order were sold out for the night, so we ended up getting the same dish - crab cakes. While they were flavorful, the consistency and shape looked suspiciously commercially made. The side vegetables were odd - HUGE undercooked broccoli flowerettes, with a “topping” of unseasoned bell pepper slices. The vegetables did not appear to be part of a cohesive dish. All-in-all, mediocre at best. Finally, another reviewer mentioned the cold temps in the dining room. Initially we were comfortable, but partway through dinner the temperature noticeably dropped. The hostess put on a jacket, the servers were wearing vests, while we were freezing. We did not mention it to the staff because it seemed like the norm based on their clothing. The temperature never improved. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. This was our first trip to Highlands so I don’t know the restaurant scene well, but surely there are other better restaurants at this price point.
Food was delicious! Desert was out of this world!
Wonderful food, varied menu, and awesome desserts. We went for Valentine’s Day weekend and it was crowded, but the service was still attentive. Cool vibe and good drinks. We did not get to enjoy the patio because it was cold, but will be back when it warms up.
Outstanding experience. Nice people, great menu and food quality great.
Disorganised; slow service; bad food; angry patrons; disappointments all the way round
Very poor service. Understaffed and disorganized. My party of two had a reservation and waited for our table for forty minutes. The waitress apologized. We ordered our meals a waited one hour. Our food still didn’t come so we left. Heard similar stories from other people.
We had a wonderful Valentines Day date at Midpoint. The place was slammed for the holiday so we had to wait awhile for our food, but we enjoyed the leisurely pace and chance to talk, relax, chat with the nice people at the table next to us and enjoy our wine. Each course was well worth the wait. And the dessert!!! A work of art that was special in every way.
Kitchen was overwhelmed by Valentine’s rush. Our server was apologetic and attending, however.
Great food, decent service, but it took over 2 hours to receive our meal after ordering.
We arrived & were seated. Got a glass of wine each, ordered & recurved appetizer & salad. Then we were ignored for the next hour. Every single waiter, hostess, busser walked by our table no less than 15 times each, not ONE of them offered more water, another drink, or to clear our salad plates. After sitting there for an hour & a half we got up and told the manager we were leaving, and asked for the bill. We were patient because it was Valentines Day. But our reservation was for 6:30. By 6:30 this place was so far behind they were never going to catch up! I did notice a couple of locals were seated and served immediately without waiting and there was ample time for the staff to visit each other. Never going back again not because they were so busy, but because none of the staff worked together. We had to ask that someone light the candle on the table!!!!! Awful teamwork awful Managment. That was the 3rd time we ate there. Guess the 3rd times the charm because we’ll never go there again!

It was Valentine's night which explains most issues. Food was ok, not great. Service was good, not great. Signs of a restaurant's first true production night. Hope it moves forward and improves . Bad night to try judging a restaurant.
Our first time to Highlands,NC. and we booked Midpoint for a Valentines night meal. We had four choices for our entree with a choice of an appetizer, soup or salad. The bread served before the meal was very good. With it being $59 per person, add on a couple of drinks our bill was nearly $200 with a 20% tip and this didn't include dessert. The hostess and servers were great...the food came out in the wrong order, but that was ok. The taste was good..wasn't outstanding, but not too bad.
I heard this place has only been open six months and I think it has great potential. I would go back.
This was a Valentines dinner, so menu was 3-course Prix Fixe. I’m not a food critic, so I will only say the entrees were very, very good. We had the pork tenderloin and sea bass. The service was lacking, mostly in that the server was either new, or socially awkward (maybe both), and not very attentive...almost seemed he was afraid to talk to us! The pastry chef was, on the other hand, was ecstatic to talk about her creations, and was a pleasure to interact with. We ended up with a simply amazing heart-shaped, diamond cut cake with champagne jelly and other deliciousness.
The restaurant was very cold, to the extent we were uncomfortable. Servers were wearing fleece vests. Had to wear our coats throughout the dining experience.
The food and drinks were delicious! Definitely going to remember this restaurant for when we are back in the area.
The food was delicious, everyone there was so nice and the desserts are absolutely to die for.
Waited forever for our server, hardly ate any of our food as it wasn’t good, no one asked what was wrong or why we didn’t eat anything. Dessert was meh, the key lime part was fine, but the topper thing was just way too much and didn’t taste good, so I took it off after the first bite. Will not go here again
The food was delicious, the staff was super friendly and Carlton, the bartender, was by far worth the experience as a whole! Plan to make a trip back to Highlands, and this will for sure be on our list of to dos!
Our server was wonderful! We loved the pastry chef!
Last minute dinner adventure and we made the right call. This place has amazing food and cocktails. The staff was very friendly and on point. The owners were very responsive to our needs and making sure we were happy.
Didn’t really enjoy the news restaurant. My husband ordered a filet that was very fatty. It did not seem like a filet. My meal was just ok.
The food was good, the waitress was attentive once she got to the table. When we asked Kiki, the hostess that night, if we were getting a server after sitting there for 10 minutes, she was extremely rude. The old dusty, broken wood carvings and decor were dated and some were creepy. The one I got to sit next to was disturbing. There are a lot of other good restaurants in town, try them first.
The food was very good but the restaurant is trying to achieve an upscale dinner, with a less than upscale environment. If you don’t mind it being a little loud, with music playing (along with commercials..) then you will enjoy the food. Food was presented well and very enjoyable.
Midpoint is an outstanding addition to the already excellent pallet of restaurants that we have in Highlands. The service, ambience and food - especially the desserts are outstanding. Compliments to all concerned.
Tmeal was okay,we will go back and give it another try.
We had a great dinner at Midpoint on Saturday. The poutine was truly a guilty pleasure and I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken tikka massala, which came with an excellent roti paratha and raita. Our dishes paired very well with an excellent spanish red and the snowy scene outisde. We loved the energy in the room, which perhaps is aided by having an open kitchen, but it was a lot more buzzy that you would expect in Highlands given the older demographic in town. Both the dining room and the adjacent bar were packed, which was a surprise in low season. The highlight though may have been the dessert - the pastry chef is a true artist and has a great passion for her work.
Highly recommended and a great addition to a town that already has great restaurants. We will return for sure.
We enjoyed our dinner at Midpoint. The food was very good and the ambiance, though a bit loud, is good as well. My only problem with the evening was the service. Our waiter was young and friendly. He was slow to return to our table for followup meaning drink refills were not offered timely. I do believe part of the problem was an unusually large crowd on a snowy Saturday night that was normally after season for our holiday visitors. So I give them a pass this time with a rating a bit higher than I might have given under different circumstances. I'll go back...probably soon.
We had a wonderful meal! We were promptly seated. Dinner choices are varied and we had the ramen and steak. We’ll be going back again very soon!
We had dinner on New Year's Day. The restaurant has an outside upper deck that I think would be fun for drinks when weather is warmer. The food was good, nothing special, with the exception of dessert, and I am not a dessert person. It is not so much the taste as the presentation, but they are very good. If I were to go again, I would have drinks or coffee and dessert.
Service was okay, the bartender was having a bad night, expressing frustrations constantly, and they may have been short staffed. This had a bit of an impact on my rating as it left a bad impression on the four of us.
Last point, to get to the restaurant, you need to climb several steps. Something to note if you have a member of your party with concerns in that area.
The paella and the pasta marinara were both incredible. Very attentive and friendly wait staff. Fun atmosphere and great menu selection. Will definitely be back!
Best variety in highlands
The filet and sea bass were lovely and the dessert was divine!!! The pastry chef is so talented and a delight to chat with about her creations!! We also loved sitting on the rooftop before dinner - we will be back!!
The service was average, not of what you expect to get for $150.00 a dinner. Food was OK, my trout was cold and greasy, husbands fillet was mediocre at the best.
