Mimi Blue Meatballs and More - Good Food! - Mass Ave
Excellent food, great atmosphere and friendly server. Busy evening so it took a while to get food and drinks. Also would like more beer options.
I loved the food up to the point where the waiter cleared our table, taking my mashed potatoes with him which I had maybe eaten only 3 bites of. He didn’t say he was boxing them or if I was finished so it was assumed he was boxing them. I didn’t have them sitting off to the side they were literally right in front of me... so I paid for mashed potatoes that I barely got to eat and I really liked them.
It was a pleasant dining experience , the variety of meatballs & side dishes are amazing. We enjoyed the special of the day, Chorizo Meatballs, very delicious!!
Waitress was not helpful at all with explaining how the menu worked or giving ideas for pairings of meatballs and sauces. She also was not very attentive. Parking was miserable to find. From when i first saw the place to when I walked inside after finding parking was a solid 20-25 minutes.
Always a great time!
The food was amazing! I had veggie meatballs and my boyfriend had the fried chicken meat balls. I had Brussels sprouts and he Mac and cheese. We will definitely be returning! <3
Great food and service!
Super service! Michael K always takes awesome care of us! Will be back!
Mimi Blue is one of the restaurants on Mass Ave we haven't tried so decided to make that our next outing. We were not disappointed. Our waiter was very kind to go over the menu with us and explain the different sauces. We each decided to try four different meatballs with four different sauces. I got the mashed potatoes and my husband got the pasta. The Sriracha Aioli and the Bourbon Bbq were my favorites with the turkey meatball. Neither was too hot our spicy but both were very flavorful. My husbands was the spicy bolognese with the classic Meetball. Both of the sides were very good. It was a fun experience for both of us and we can't wait to take our grandson there who loves meatballs. If I had anything I would change it would be to offer mixed drinks at the bar they only had wine and beer.
I recommend it for anyone I know who comes to town. It’s a great novelty and with the daily specials you can try something new every time you go.
This, by far, is the best location! Michael K. made sure we had a great time and had amazing service!
Server messed up several meals which I don't understand since you write on your own menu. She didn't explain things well and it was our first time so we were struggling to know what to order.
Food was good and we may try again now that we have a better idea how it works and what things we would like. Wish we could have had dessert because they looked great but we were short on time .
The concept is good: serve your choice of meatball with your choice of sauce. There are 81 potential combinations and you get to choose four to round out your plate. I would be lying, though, if I claimed to remember which exact combinations I chose but the meatballs were all tasty as were the sauces.
The side dishes, which are large enough to share, were...ok. We tried dirty mashed potatoes, creamy polenta, and fried Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were by far the favorite at the table. The mashed potatoes and polenta weren't bad, they just weren't anything to write home about. I'm not exactly sure why the polenta was called creamy.
Where the wheels came off the wagon was the service. I don't know if it's because we arrived at 5:30 on a Tuesday but the staff seemed to be overwhelmed. Our food took borderline too long to arrive. What baffled us was that the starter we ordered was never seen, either on the table or the check. I'm guessing it was missed in the novelty of their ordering system, which involves dry erase markers used to select your choices directly on the menu.
I think the best way to describe it is: I'm not mad but I'm not in a hurry to go back either.
Disappointed that the Devour menu no longer allows you to substitute a side instead of the banana mousse dessert. It's the only dessert item on the Devour menu so if you don't like bananas it's a waste. Meatballs here are always good. The veggie meatball has a nice spiciness. Their ice tea is also good.
I first discovered Mimi’s in Carmel 2 years ago—where I fell in love. Same goes for the Mass Ave location—first time at this spot and it did not disappoint. Meatballs are my favorite food, so I am obsessed with the concept of this restaurant. The inside feels so elevated and classy, but the casual menu and price point bring the vibe down a notch. Such a cozy and fun experience. The gnocchi is to die for. For sides, we tried the mac and queso and orzo with veggies—both fantastic. Please open a location in Chicago!!!
Food was mediocre. Service was the same
Great food and service
I didn't know what to expect but Mimi Blue's exceeded them. AMAZING!
Something new, the server was super mice and helpful! The menu was fun also.
Came back downtown for dinner during a baseball
Tournament at Grand Park. We had a variety of meatballs with different sauces. The food was awesome!
I was excited to bring my family from out of town to try one of my favorite restaurants. I bring many clients here for a fun lunch as well. I was disappointed with this visit as our meatballs came out not hot. They tasted as if they had been sitting around for an hour and not fresh or juicy-but dried. My girlfriend and I were able to ask for them to re-make them..which they did. But my family being from out of town were too polite to ask for a new dish. They didn’t get to experience the quality of the food the way I am used to. Disappointed in that. Not sure if I can convince them to come back because of their food quality.
Chose this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend of mine to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The staff was outstanding and the food excellent! I would highly recommend Mimi's!
This restaurant was good and had gluten and dairy free options. In a very cool neighborhood too
This was everything I hoped it would be. The meatballs were delicious and the server was helpful and patient since it was our first time. We truly enjoyed every bit of it. Just wish it was easier to find parking.
Enjoyed sitting outside,
Excellent food, great service and love the quiet but fun atmosphere!
Dinner with my daughter before a concert!
Great concept for a restaurant. It allows you to try different types of meatballs and different sauces. And the sides are excellent.
Went with my husband and two daughters before a concert at Whit Garden. We all had different meals and everyone loved everything. The original meatball with the spicy marinara was my favorite. The sides are large enough for sharing. Good service!
Expensive over cooked meatballs. Very bland. Had high hopes but was very disappointed
We were a group of 8 ladies of a certain age and had a fantastic time. I made last minute reservations, and they placed us perfectly at a round table in a corner where most of the noise was our laughter and expressions of enjoyment. The food was great and the service was absolutely fantastic. Our server (sorry not to know her name) was engaging, funny, efficient, and helpful. Great experience.
Menu doesn't make it clear that of the entire list of "special" meatballs, only one is available each day and you don't know until you get there which one it is. They were also out of the Wonderball the day we went (an everyday menu item, not a special). Waitress wasn't aware of recent pricing changes to certain meatballs and charged us for a more expensive one that we didn't actually get because they were out of it. (She did fix it after we pointed this out to her, but first tried to tell us all the balls were the same price when they were clearly listed differently on our bill.)
Took our niece for her birthday. Great options, tasty variety. Wonderful service from Malik.
The food was amazing as usual, but the service was fantastic! Top notch! We will be back soon!
First experience here. Food was very good and good portions. Service was a little on the slow side when it came to our waitress recognizing our table and replenishing water, drinks, etc. All else was fantastic.
It was a long drive that Thursday night, the storm turned our trip to Mass Ave into an 1 1/2 hour adventure. By the time we arrived, only 15 minutes late for our reservation, we were cold, wet and hungry! Regretably, our 4 dinner guests were stopped by the storm from joining us. Your kind staff moved us to a table for 2, plied us with wine and calmed our nerves. Then, your amazing baked goat cheese with peperonata warmed us right up, the turkey meatballs on dirty mash with mushroom sauce was totally what I needed. My spouse very much enjoyed the traditional meat balls with marinara sauce, which were definitely not ordinary! Our only slight criticism is that our friendly server delivered our entree too early, and I would have loved to have had a crusty gluten free baguette to enjoy with the baked cheese. We shall return, hopefully without the hour long drive in a storm. Thank you and cheers to Mimi Blue!
Nice place. Good food. A little too noisy for a large group like ours to have a conversation.
We came later in a day on Mother’s Day and 2/3 of menu was not available anymore. We placed the order for items still left and they were absolutely delicious!!
Our server was extremely friendly and helpful.
We ended up having a great dinner and family time!
Strongly recommend this restaurant! We were at Mass Avenue location.
We love Mimi Blues. Their new fried chicken ball is my favorite and I cannot go without getting the Queso Mac and the Fried Brussel Sprouts! They are slow to get you your check when they get busy. I think the staff have more than the typical 4-5 tables a person.
