We sat outside because inside was crowded and noisy (which is more/less what you’d expect on a Friday night, right?) Server was pleasant but also rushed attending many tables. Food was good—we just had appetizers and drinks. The bartender knows his stuff—great cocktails! Food was nothing special.
3rd time another homerun.. amazing food and service
Service was just OK… Food was honestly way overpriced and not even that good. My friends weren’t super satisfied or stoked on their meal and I received a mushy veggie burger.
1 word Amazing all around Amazing
If you live in Oceanside, come in on Monday night for the local specials! If you want a great server, ask for Crystal...she is awesome!
Arrived and had confirmed reservations. We were told that they were expecting a group of 30 any second and really didn’t have room for us....
What a great new find. Great service, fantastic food and great music (live). Happy to share this new experience and spot with others.
Wow. This place looks like a rustic bar with endless choices of whiskey and ale, but the food is awesome. From the cauliflower appetizer and burrata salad to the lobster grilled cheese and fried chicken with corn bread to the house-made donuts and banana custard, this place is NOT typical bar food. Mostly comfort food, but elevated beyond anything I’ve found in a casual dining spot like this. Musician in the background played well without being obtrusive. What a great find!
great brunch spot for bottomless mimosas in downtown Oceanside off Mission Ave :)
Very good salads to which we added fried and grilled chicken. Don’t miss the homemade donut dessert!
Mothers Day is a tougher day to hit a restaurant. The food was quite tasty and the server friendly. The owner guy was even around, working on this and that. The food from kitchen was about 45 min though (we had to ask after it) and arriving just this side of still hot. The location is good. The huge glass garage doors were up. They've just adding a patio / pergola. Its super dog friendly (a-ok in my book). We'd def go back when back down for a day trip to O-side.
Our food and drinks were great! I had the Mac and cheese and it was some of the best I’ve had! Our waitress was really nice and made good recommendations for whiskeys to try out! There were only a couple other groups and one of the other groups was pretty loud considering there was no one else around them.
Too saucy. It made the food very salty
Amazing burger and delicious fries!!
The staff and bar were excellent! We came there for drinks. I ordered an Old Fashioned- but i wasn’t crazy about about the whiskey blend they used for an Old Fashioned.
No problem at all. They made me another one that was excellent.
Everyone is friendly
I wish I lived local so that I can try their Wednesday half price whiskey night,
Will definitely come back
Great place for locals if you like craft beer, cocktails, and some bites. I’m typically satisfied with the food here, loved the chef’s menu back at 608, so I’m not complaining, but sometimes I think he goes a bit heavy on the sugar.
We had a Surprise Birthday Brunch and everything was great.
Friendly staff and good food
Definitely worth trying when you are in Oceanside.
Met for brunch with friends who have children and the environment was great. Music a bit loud but was a fun place. Food was delicious and our waitress was super friendly. Would definitely go back!!
My husband and I loved 608 but unfortunately it closed. We were happy to find out that the chef is here at Mission Ave Bar and Grill. We came for a date night and shared our fav beet salad, carnitas tostada, and short rib. It was all so delicious! We also had the brownie for dessert and it was also good but not quite as yummy as everything else. We will be back again!!
Great tostadas Great wheat beer. First time here a very nice experience.
We read a review that said this was a foodie paradise at an affordable price. Indeed it is. The sauces were creative in a way I'd never expect. We had Calamari, Fried Chicken and corn bread, short rib, and a brownie desert. Everything was amazing. I can't wait to go back. The decor was not what we expected and we wondered if this was the right place when we walked in. 5 big-screen TV's with sports on each one, (luckily no volume), funky square / glass tables that did not seem to accommodate 4 people easily. The bar is long and beautiful. Looks something out of Cheers. For great food, eat here. For an intimate meal...not so much.
We came because we heard their chef moved from another place down the street and we like him. Don't think he was there that night. Drinks took a long time. Ice tea/lemonade even longer. Happy hour fries took awhile and were cold so we sent back and got hot ones a bit faster. Main dishes came even later but they were good. The ribs a bit drier than I was expecting. We ordered the only dessert on the menu that also took forever. When it came it seemed less than expected as it was a regular brownie with some mousse on the side.(nothing special) We complained a bit about the long wait so they comped us the dessert and 1 cocktail. Probably won't go back.
Loved it! We will be back for sure!
We celebrated Father's day with a lovely Brunch here. They had some special dishes for brunch and also had the option of ordering from their regular menu. The Chicken and Cornbread Benedict with jalapeño hollandaise was a group favorite, and all were delighted with their meals.
Great food and service!
There was no one to check in with & no tables reserved, we request high top table seating for my husband’s mobility issue. Grabbed seats at a long table but couldn’t get menus or drinks for quite some time. After our meal we had to get the bartender’s attention to get our check. Very frustrating 2nd experience.
I was hoping that this would be a go-to lunch place. Unfortunately, the food was just average. We had 3 dishes: Calamari, Carnitas Tostada, and Crispy Shrimp. The presentation was nice but the food itself was nothing special. We had 2 drinks: Mission Ave Sour & Vodka Martini on the rocks. My friend said she'd had better sours and my martini was very light on the vodka.
Friendly staff, engaging owner, great food. Neighborhood Gem.
I'm a local, but first time here and I loved it! SO MUCH WHISKEY TO CHOOSE FROM! I had wings and they where bom!
Nice location in down town, food is yummy, the ahi poke is to die for. Exceptional service from Cameron. Nice addition to the Oceanside downtown dining scene.
It’s a fun neighborhood spot. Nice local greens in the salad. It’s usualky pretty mellow, I guess it get noisier as the night wears on.
Food was good, service was spotty. Everyone was friendly but our server disappeared for awhile, not sure what happened.
The food was delicious. It is a sports bar so we went to watch football. Definitely would return!
