Delicious food! We arrived on the first Mother's Day after the pandemic, so we were glad to enjoy the place despite the service rhythm getting back on track. We look forward to going again. This shushi stand out from most othet places in town.

Sushi chef , Johnny , and server , Joy ..assisted in impressing our friends who were new diners to MoMoyama ! All of us will return for more of the incredibly fresh flavors. Among our favorites were the trio of Toro, oysters ungari and nigiri fresh water eel. All were delicious ! Thank you !

Arguably the best high end sushi in Portland metro. 15 course omakase was a delight. Outstanding mixed drinks. Sake bottle selection is way overpriced & not the finest selection considering we spent $250/pp. Limited beer selection. Sushi chef Hiro San is a Portland treasure. The owner is behind the counter hustling to get sushi orders out in a timely manner. Friendly wait staff. We’ll be back.

We arrived at the time of our reservations and was told that they gave our table to another group. I was confused and turned off by this as we arrived less than 5 minutes late due to finding parking. However, they were able to seat us after around 10 minutes which was fine. Our server, Rachel, was very kind and checked in periodically which was nice. We ordered our sushi plates in addition to the Uni Pasta which was a delight. My partner and I were both amazed at the food and loved it all. We also got a chance to glance around the interior and the ambiance was very elegant and intimate. It was a great place for a date night for our anniversary and we have already marked it as a place to return to for future date nights.

The hostess wanted to seat us at a two-top that was close to the door and in the middle of a lot of foot traffic between the kitchen, bathrooms and tables in the back. Our server accommodated our request for a more intimate table, but we were still seated in a room that was not part of the original restaurant now occupied by Momoyama. The room has high ceilings and the ambiance and noise level decreased our overall satisfaction. The service was what you would expect at a high end sushi restaurant. Our server was attentive and available. We ordered sushi, sashimi and a blue crab hand roll. The quality of the fish was excellent and the preparation was excellent. We’ll be back again but will sit at the sushi bar for one of the omakase seatings that they are becoming known for.

We had the 12 course Omakase style dinner with Chef Scott. The food was delicious and we enjoyed every bite of this custom menu. Things I never would’ve ordered on my own, arrived in front of me with lovely presentation, and opened my mind and taste buds to an unforgettable experience. The cocktails were innovative and well balanced. Service was well paced and efficient. We will return. Absolutely recommend!

Second time and it was just as fantastic as the first time. It was a special night out with friends; the first dining night post-mask-requirement, and we decided to celebrate at Momoyama. The service and food are exceptional. The food excels in variety, presentation and FLAVOR. And the sake list is best described as instructive and amazing...so much to learn about the variances in taste, clarity, nose... I highly recommend Momoyama.

Great staff, yummy food. This was the old NW Sinju years ago and although that was once a go to spot, I think this restaurant has surpassed them in service and quality.

Momoyama is the BEST sushi place in town - By Far!! The tuna (ahi) tower is to die for but everything is good. We usually go at lunch with light crowds. Get a rezi for dinner; it gets crowded.

My son and I LOVE this place. It is the best sushi we have found in Portland. Super fresh, huge variety, very friendly staff, and a great ambience. This is now our #1 sushi place in town.

My husband and I had an 8:00 reservation for Valentine's Day. We should have known when we walked in that something was up because the vibe was very tense, but we sat and waited for almost half an hour just to be seated. Around 8:30, we were finally seated at the table closest to the door. People were piling up in the waiting area and standing around our table. We didn't see a waitress for 10 minutes. Finally she came with water, and then disappeared again. Around 8:45 she came out with the first course and the bites were laughably small, even for an amuse bouche. We made a joke about them running out of food - now reading other diners reviews I see that's actually what happened! But we didn't wait around to find out. After waiting another 10 minutes, and seeing no one around us had been served food yet, we got up and informed the hostess we were leaving. She was very apologetic, but of course its not the staff's fault! It's the owner or general manager who decided to overbook the restaurant to maximize profit while making everyone else, including their staff, pay for it. Horrible management.

Made reservations for Valentines Day about a month ago. A week before they called to find out what entrees we would want. We selected the chefs choice sushi and the filet mignon. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated about a half hour later, which is fine it’s busy. We got our food very slowly, about a half hour between each course, also fine. We ordered the sake pairing and our glasses were dirty with lip marks. We asked for new glasses, no problem. We were very patient. Around 10:30 (3 hours after our reservation) we were told they were out of filet mignon and there wasn’t any other option… so we were comped what little we ate and drank. The food we had was good, overall the experience was OK and I felt really bad for our server because he had to give us bad news after we sat for 3 hours waiting for our entree which we never got. The management must have some issues, we were very disappointed with our Valentine’s Dinner. I’m frustrated that they took my order a week prior and couldn’t come through.

We booked the Valentine’s Day dinner experience and had a fairly poor experience. I don’t think this reflects the usual nature of the restaurant, but nevertheless, we waited for almost two hours for cold entrées and lackluster appetizers. The service team was woefully understaffed, but was still very nice and apologetic. It was a bad first impression, but I’m sure the next visit will be a redeeming experience.

It was a busy night but... the service just missed the mark. It got slower and slower and slower and in the end it just left us thinking about how long we sat there (almost 3 hours) instead of thinking about the tasty meal we just ate.
