Fantastic food, as always

The Diwali menu running through Dec 5th is fantastic- sweet potato and beet chaat was amazing!

Our server was very polite and helpful. She took the time to explain the menu, offer her suggestion, and found ways to help us get exactly what we wanted.

Found this gem via OpenTable and something about it just spoke to me. I'm glad that I listened! Beautifully decorated, the ambience is perfect, customer service is beyond fantastic and I didn't even take pictures of the food because it was in my belly as soon as it hit the table. Made for a wonderful date night. Thank you to Amy for all your recommendations on the menu, your mocktails and for taking pics for my wife and I. Thank you to the bartender for your mocktail as well and for coming and chatting with my wife and I for a bit. We will definitely return for brunch and other meals.

The food was great. They didn’t have an ingredient for one of the drinks and also didn’t have some of the wine options. But the other drinks were good. It was fairly bright in the restaurant and almost awkwardly quite

Very safe. Very clean. The server was knowledgeable and helpful as we decided what to order. The bartender made me a fabulous mocktail (preggers), and the food was delicious. I love the little waiting area with the porch swings. Great ambience. We will return.

My first time there. Attended brunch and there was a live band. Food, staff, surroundings, everything was awesome! Will definately go back.

The tapas are amazing at Nama, totally better then the main dishes. The main dishes are large portions you can share but you can definitely tell the tapas are the main focus and attraction, so yummy!

The ambiance was amazing! The restoration and decor was beautiful. Our waiter was great! Friendly and very attentive. The food was good. I would only suggest that the French toast is cooked a little longer or a crustier bread. The artist before the band was EVERYTHING!!!! I would love to see her perform again! What can you say about J Baxter and the Sauce band?!? AMAZING!! They never disappoint!! Definitely will be coming back!!

An outstanding and amazing space with food that is a modern take on the Indian classics. This restaurant is a gem. The staff were clearly proud. And the entire facility was Covid aware. I highly recommend more than one meal here.

Overpriced and food pretty bland. Biryani was just spicy with no flavor. The curry pots are not enough for two people to share. Presentation of food was better than flavor. Service and atmosphere was great though.

I had initially made a reservation anticipating I would be going to a traditional Indian restaurant w/ the standard Indian music. Since the website stated they had live music on the weekends. Given we are in COVID, I thought this would be a nice change than the silence we've all been getting when inside or outside any eating establishments.
I was shocked, in a very good way, to find that the live music was actually soul, Motown and something close to what I would expect a Gospel Brunch to feel like. The group playing and singing were amazing. They kept the energy of the room up and gave people a real sense of enjoyment.
The restaurant was good in that all their wait staff wore masks and they cleaned down tables quickly upon people finishing. They were also very attentive and wanted to ensure you had plenty to eat and drink, all the time. Service was exceptional.
If I had one concern/criticism, it would just be that the singers would have stayed closer to their stage area, as opposed to walking around. Although it certainly helped the energy levels, given the concerns over COVID and obviously the singers not wearing masks to perform, that would have be preferred. But again, they were courteous and provided a great respite from all that has been going on.
I would certainly recommend for anyone who enjoys live music and good Indian food, to check it out.

The food was absolutely delicious! We shared three small plates and a curry pot and enjoyed every single bite of the spicy, delicious flavors. Our service was great & we had a wonderful overall experience. We will definitely be coming back.

Enjoyed our first visit to Nama. The Chicken Tikki Masala is the best in Richmond and arguably the best we've had. We also truly enjoyed the Saag Paneer. The service was wonderful and ambiance was pleasant.

Have made another reservation in a few weeks to take a friend.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was so good my friend and I were still talking about it for days. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I plan to go back the next time in Richmond.

The service was great, the drinks were good, some of the dishes were good, but most of them are just ok. The sweet potato small plate was just terrible (my opinion). The prices are pretty steep. If I was asked by my friends, I'll probably tell them to skip this one.

Stopped by Nama after visiting the VA Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. We had been craving some good Indian cuisine for awhile and this was just the thing to satisfy. Started off eight he Chili Wings as an app, and while there was only 4 in the order, the flavor was really superb. Good spice, great char, and the sauces alongside really paired well with the wings!
For mains we ordered the “Sampler Platter” (the true name escapes me) and the Chicken Korma, with a plain Naan.
The Platter included 2 lamb chops, two large pieces of Chicken Tikka, and three Tandoori Shrimp, alongside three dipping sauces. Everything was cooked perfectly, the flavors were all different but in the best of ways! The Chicken Korma was actually the only item that was not very spicy (and my wife prefers Spicy when it comes to Indian food), but it was a nice relief to enjoy the subtle nuances in the curry over just heat on heat.
Naan was also delicious!!! The area is a little disheveled at the moment but this restaurant deserves all the attention it can garner. Big YES.

We thoroughly enjoyed Nama during our visit to Richmond. It was some of the best Indian food I’ve ever enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere & vibe, too.

We were the only customers. The food was decent, but nothing I would ever recommend or order again. Servers were friendly. Ambiance was somewhat cold and bare. Would not recommend or return to Nama

Natasha served my family. She was so sweet and wasnt put off by our requests (plain fries instead of masala seasoned for my daughter and no onion on our palak chat). I ordered a cocktail that was made to perfection by Nasib. The food came out perfect and to order. Ambiance was perfect and we all enjoyed our time there. We always have a great time and our food is always perfect!

Loved the aesthetic and fun to eat Indian in a small plate style. The food was very good although the papri chat could have used more of the intense flavors that make it fun. I would go again.

Blown away by the scrumptious food, warm service and energetic ambiance. Wasn't expecting much, just wanted a nice date night with hubby. The scallop and spinach dishes along with the complimentary cava were unexpected culinary delights. The crispy wings and Calamari were good, too. The only miss involved the thin, chalky garlic nan bread. Looking forward to returning.

great food, feels quite authentic. The portions were a little bit smaller than I am used to, but the taste more than makes up for it!
