No10 @ WillowsAwake Winery
Myself and two of my friends had an amazing experience at Willows Awake Winery. There was not one thing we would have changed. We will be back!
The staff and food were both exceptional. I highly recommend for any occasion. There drinks also did not disappoint. Great aesthetics and atmosphere!!
What a beautiful place to dine! My husband and I enjoyed their beautiful inside dining room and felt extremely safe with their precautions with COVID-19. The ambience was so comforting and they are starting to decorate for the Holidays. My husband and I both ordered off of their weekly specials menu, PHENOMENAL! We had the sirloin and shrimp special, with garlic mashed and seasonal veg. Service was immaculate from our Server Jaclyn! We discovered this is a family restaurant which makes us even more proud to support them. The owners, Brenda & Tony treated us like family. We will be back many more times! I heard a new menu is coming soon, so I am eager to come back and try!!
We wanted to like this place based on local friends reviews. We are foodies who enjoy the likes of Fore Street, David's, Oak Table, State Lunch, etc of great local foods. Willows Awake fell short. Took to long for margaritas to be made, our mussels had only a handful that were open but theu did remove the mussels from the bill. The bread with mussels was great. The chili special seemed like mush as the shredded meat over-took the rest of the chili concept. My steak was more medium than even close to medium rare. Service just seemed slow and the kitchen staff constantly looking out window to dining room was kind of creepy and annoying. The owners never greeted us and sat at bar or at tables of other diners. I feel that is a bad look as the owners should be helping out and greeting customers to make sure service is satisfactory.
I may try again in the spring and after covid is settled down, but that's a big maybe.
Hi Folks, We apologize that your visit was not satisfactory and will take your feedback to improve the areas you have pointed out. Seeing from the eyes of the customer is the best form of perspective. This as you may have figured out is a family business, I was at the bar, my daughter behind the bar and my husband at your fellow patron's table (he was an old business associate). I remember it clearly. If you give us another try please ask for me, this is Brenda.
We joined another couple for a very early dinner on the porch so we could catch sunset during dinner (now at 4:20pm, being early-mid-November!) We were seated in a perfect spot, next to the railing and edge of the porch, with a perfect view of the grounds—nearby picnic tables complete with wine barrel tables and woodpiles used for nice little bonfires, and the vineyard beyond.
Food was pretty good—I will say the appetizer salad my husband ordered didn’t come with its dressing, and he didn’t tell the server, so we split it and enjoyed very fresh salad bits anyway. Main dishes were tasty—2 of us ordered a yummy and tender sirloin, medium-rare as ordered, another person ordered medium rare salmon. My. Husband had delicious meatballs encrusted with something he reports was delicious. We ordered the King’s Red, that Willows made using grapes from Boothby’s, from Sumner, ME, as Willow’s grapes aren’t far enough along yet (I think) to get a Cabernet yet. Dessert was tasty—the 4 of us ordered 2 and shared— a King’sRed chocolate cake, and a hot chili cheesecake—very smoothe!
Hi Karen- I am glad you had a good time! Sorry about the salad dressing. Hope to see you again sometime soon. Thanks again.
The people and service was fantastic. Super friendly and attentive. Sunday brunch was very good. Wish they had more winery wines available (only 3 available).
The venue is beautiful. Our service was not great but it was probably due to a private party that was booked at the same time. We ordered drinks and didn't get them for 1/2 hour our more. Our food was cold when we got it. I would give this place another try because the venue is beautiful and I think the problem was that they were short-staffed and should have hired waitstaff just for the private event. The private part was very loud and there was an echo in the room.
We went for brunch and we were a little disappointed that the food quantity was small and the price was a bit pricey. My wife is a vegetarian and there was not an option to take more or less of something since she does not eat meat. I wish there were options to select what you would like from the selections.
Presentations were very nice, food was fresh and effort by the kitchen to ensure everything arrived on time. The baked Brie was just slightly disappointing and lost its flavor with too much bread encasing it, the sun dried tomatoes were somewhat overbearing. Charcuterie was wonderful and well presented all in our party enjoyed this and it had some different things which made it wonderful. Salads were great and the house dressing was wonderful. Main courses were very good, meatballs were light and very juicy, the Chicken Mollena, very good and delicate. We also ordered pumpkin risotto which was perfect and had a wonderful flavor. The 7 layer chocolate cake was delish and the blueberry cheese cake torte was also done nicely and delicious. Service was wonderful and the cleanliness of the bar and each piece of silverware and glass were spotless. We are going back again, very short and limited menus were a little challenging but certainly not a bad thing. The ambiance is something that you write home about, wonderful job in the kitchen, wait staff and provinces were outstanding
The restaurant has great potential but it seems to be going through some startup growing pains. The location and atmosphere is quite nice. The waitstaff was very attentive however not overly knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant seems to be focusing on a fine dining experience which is great for the area but it also raises the expectations.
In terms of our meals, it took an exceptionally long time to be served. When we finally received our meals, one of them was prepared incorrectly which they quickly took back and re-prepared. Unfortunately, it came back the second time incorrect and the waitress was highly embarrassed but helpful and apologetic. The meat and cheese board for 4 ($60) seemed far over priced for what you received.
Thank you for dining with us! We appreciate your feedback and will be implementing additional menu training with our staff moving forward. We want each of our guests to enjoy a leisurely meal and our Charcuterie Boards are intended to provide each guest with just enough to sample the locally sourced cheeses and meats provided by our Chef. Once again, thank you so much for enjoying a meal here with us. We hope that you will provide us with another opportunity to serve you moving forward.
