Consistently the best OC has to offer. Not to be missed by rational adults who eat.
Always great food, creative yet not over done, great staff, great ambience right in the heart of downtown!
Phenomenal experience all around ask always.
One of the best brunch restaurants in Laguna Beach. We love visiting and dining at Ocean At Main!
We really enjoyed our meal. The place is attractive and the menu choices are many. We loved the sausage pizza and the lobster ravioli, as well as our apple dessert. It is very noisy but more or less manageable. We will return.
Great food and service.
Excellent innovative food. Superior wait staff and hostess.
Very good! Went with family and a friend and had a great time.
The best food I’ve had in a long time :)
The best in OC, period.
This place is highly overrated. People are coming here because the chef came from the Montage but the food doesn’t even come close to that. We were squeezed in like sardines and there was barely any room to pass through to the bathroom. The servers were seen struggling to get around and so were the patrons. The food was, at best, bar food from a B Hotel. Strange items for dinner; a chicken sandwich and a bad pizza. The chef was going around to certain tables making everyone else feel like chicken liver. A lot of glad-handing going on with the A list crowd.
This is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely outdoor patio for al fresco dining. There is no ocean view but it sits in the heart of Laguna Beach so you'll appreciate the vibe of the this beach-side village while you watch the locals and tourist pass by on the sidewalk. There are some excellent servers here but it is a modern service model where multiple people attend to your table, a little less personal than a dedicated waiter but still attentive. If you are going for a special occasion make sure you ask for an individual table and not the banquette as the two tops at the banquette are quite close and not conducive to an intimate evening. The food is the best part. The presentation and flavors were perfection. They also have a notable wine list with a nice variety of wine region and price ranges to choose from. Laguna Beach is a date night destination for much of Orange County. This is definitely a restaurant to keep on your list for a night out in Laguna.
For OC, a really innovative restaurant.
First time writing a review! Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere , outstanding service and staff, and most importantly fantastic food! Highly recommend ...
Excellent food and service, plus restaurant layout is not crowded.
Found the recommendation in West-Ways Magazine and it was everything it was said to be.
Great food, service and ambiance
We were seated right away at a table in their beautiful patio. Our waitress, Michelle, was adorable and very attentive. Loved her. We really wanted to like this place, but most of the food didn’t meet our expectations. We ordered oysters that were inedible - an odd/off-tasting topping. We never send anything back, but had to this time - and they were great about it. The shrimp and grits were delicious (with crispy pork belly) as was the pear salad. Our main course of striped sea bass was cooked well, but was bland. It had pork belly, “coco” beans (seemed like navy beans to me), Brussels and glaze. The fish was under-seasoned, the Brussels were tasteless and the pork belly and glaze didn’t make up for it - perhaps just not enough? Our French wine pick was very good. They split each course for us which was very nice. When one item is off, we understand, but this was two hits and two major misses. Overall, a disappointing experience.
The food is impeccable. The Chef, Craig Strong, is a creative without being precious. There are surprises in every dish—some subtle and some bold. His training, experience in VERY high end restaurants shows, as does his talent.
The items on the mere range from inexpensive to manageably luxurious. From hamburgers and pizza (Some truffled and with real truffles in season) to Lobster Raviolis, an amazing Short Rib with spicy Forbidden Rice to desserts to “Die for.” The wine list is very nicely thought out with selections at every level—and some real bargains.
This restaurant is a real rarity—an neighborhood place and a destination!
For ambience yes! Very nice but high level of noise and although the chef is amazing the service o Er shadows his expertise.
Go for a drink, have a burger or salad and enjoy the setting.
Sadly, inviting our friends from out of town for dinner last Saturday night at this restaurant was a poor idea. It is hard to figure out what this restaurant is aiming to be. The dinner menu is haphazard; with sandwiches and pizza and +/-8 fine dining choices. We struggled to figure out if it was trying to be a destination restaurant or just a neighborhood joint. We had plenty of time to do so as the service was painfully slow and at times non-existent. We asked for simple things like water and butter (for the bread) and had to do so over and over and over before the requested item appeared, if at all. The worst part was the deafening noise. With a high ceiling, a Saturday night crowd and loud music we strained to have a pleasant conversation at a 4-top table. It was ridiculously loud and certainly not the atmosphere to enjoy my $47 entree.
The funniest part was, even after requesting the music be turned down, we watched the staff leaning down and having to put their face 6" from the face of the guests asking questions or placing orders at other tables. It was the silliest thing to see. You would think the staff would not want to lean down into the face of the guests to communicate. We watched that happen all night long at each table. You would think management would pick up on that and turn it down a bit, but no such luck.
The thematic mis-step in this restaurant is the lack of attention to detail in the guest experience.
My last experiences dining here was fine. Both were in the spring/summer on the patio and on a weeknight. My conclusion is if you are in the area on a weeknight and want to enjoy a casual meal on the patio for 2 people this is a fine place. For finer weekend dining, there are too many other much better choices. Especially if you care to have a conversation with those you are dining with!
We sat on the patio; loved the cozy atmosphere. Warm even on a chilly night, with their heaters and lap blankets. The endive pear salad was delicious, as well as the artichoke dip.
We sat on the patio - it was a beautiful setting. My husband ordered the Ravioli (I think it had lobster on it) and it was outstanding. I ordered the salmon and it was really good. Nice cocktails too! Great date night place.
Food is the best of the best! Atmosphere terrific. And Michele was an exceptional waitress! We highly recommend this as an experience and delightful.
Absolute worst food I have ever ordered. We both left hungry and very unsatisfied. We should have sent the spinach salad and pizza back. It’s hard to screw up those items but somehow they did.
Am delicious meal with the family!
Great service, lots of delicious options on the menu and prices were reasonable. Fun night out.
Ate on the patio and all I can say is the lighting sucks!!
Couldn’t see the menu or the food without using a phone flashlight. What a shame!!
Group of us went here for a birthday celebration. All of our 1st visit. Everything was outstanding, from the butter , to the drinks, ending with the amazing foods! We will be coming back here for sure! Our waiter was lovely and super friendly.
Ana our server was a superstar!
one of the best dinning experiences in Laguna Beach - eclectic menu selections - each dish as good as the next - too many must haves to mention - friendly warn atmosphere - will be returning often
Service was nice. The salmon was fishy however.
Great restaurant- delicious food and great service!
Steak was amazing, great service and lovely ambiance. Can’t wait to go back
Excellent food, wonderful service! We brought our 4 year old for an earlier dinner and the staff was so great with him! I would t normally bring the little guy to this nice of a place but it ended up being perfect. Scallops were amazing!
We went for date night and was very pleased with the quality of the food and ambience of the restaurant. Ask the service staff for their favorites and trust their recommendations. We ordered the lobster ravioli, diver scallops, short rib cigars, and a couple of sides, all we delicious and portions were perfect. We were too full for dessert, but I’m sure we’ll be back to try other things on the menu.
Wonderful array of inventive food and nice atmosphere. Kind hostess, servers and Chef greeted us as well. Bravo O and M.
We met some friends at Ocean at Main. This is our first time at this restaurant. As we had 5:15 pm reservation no problems and I think we were the first ones there. We sat is the patio, which was very pleasant. The restaurant is very close to Pacific Coast Highway and the beach so it was cooler than inland. The food was excellent. My only feedback was that the portion sizes are on the small side. In fact, the scallops dish consisted of four scallops with some garnishments. I guess a side dish was ala carte. The four of us cost $264, including a bottle of wine and tip. Great to see our friends and a nice restaurant.
Great experience! The food is amazing! I had the scallops and blueberry crisp. I would get both again next time if i didn't want to try everything on the menu.
Food was mediocre
Service was very poor
Our waitress kept telling us our food was coming out but it didn’t
No compensation for in delay
