Ocean Blue Restaurant & Oyster Bar
Enjoyed my Birthday experience here at Ocean Blue! Very welcoming and overall a friendly atmosphere. The whole experience worth while.. from start to finish.
We are from a town in NJ where seafood is readily available and it was fantastic to find a restaurant up here that has a quality seafood selection.
The prices were high but the ambiance and skilled wait staff made up for it.
Fabulous service! Love the brunch, we drive over an hour for this on Sundays!
Very Bad Experience at Ocean Blue. We have been here before and were looking forward to a nice Dinner. Quite simply the Service was HORRIBLE. It took 20 minutes for a Server to show-up to our Table and 1 Hour and 20 Minutes to receive our Entrees. Food was Undercooked even after the long wait. Food is Over-Priced. Better to go someplace else if you are in Utica.
Food and service was good. Just a bit expensive
Just a great experience from the time I stepped off the elevator and was greeted by the hostess to the time I walked out. Great menu, service , atmosphere and everything was delicious.
While the food was very good, the service excellent, I felt the prices have gone up quite a bit. While I understand, why, it will limit how often we eat at OB.
Great service friendly wait staff - great food!
I drive from Long Island New York once a year just to eat at this restaurant! Love the food the atmosphere and the staff is so helpful and kind. The lobster Ravioli was amazing and you couldn’t ask for better oysters or cheese cake! I highly recommend them! Me and my wife will definitely be back next October if not sooner!
Wait staff was good. Food was not worth the cost. Kitchen staff did not follow mask guidelines. People seated at bar did not follow covid guidelines.
The rib-eye was stringy and a ton of fat and very tough. My wife’s lobster ravioli the lobster was rubbery and overpowered by lemon. dessert was good
Except seafood and beautiful views.
It was a great experience! Highly recommend this restaurant! You will not be disappointed.
The food is great! My favorites are the lobster mac and cheese, street tacos, and the parmesan truffle fries!
Food was ok, service was atrocious. Apparently servers forgot how to do their job because of covid?
I enjoyed everything from the food to the wait staff and the ambiance. It’s definitely worth the price. My one and only complaint is there was a screaming toddler seated behind us that kind of killed the vibe a bit. But he was super cute and I’m sure his parents wanted to be out somewhere nice just as we did.
Service was great, a very nice balance between too little and too much attention. Staff were positive and friendly and we appreciated the warm greeting by the manager as well as the hostess upon arrival.
Appetizers were great.....Shrimp cocktail as well as bang-bang cauliflower were flavorful and well presented.
Scallops, lobster ravioli and Ahi tuna w/ spinach were the 3 entrees for the family. Tuna was disappointingly tasteless, as was the sesame based coating, and the cut was not the caliber I would have expected. I’m a huge fan of ahi and I’m sorry to say it was sub par. The sautéed spinach was perfectly cooked. I would have( should have) sent back the tuna however I did not want to tarnish an exciting Friday night with my wife and daughter over a $40 entree. I left 50% of it on the plate untouched, maybe the waitress or the manager should have asked why? The scallops and lobster ravioli were both excellent and recommended.
Deserts (creme brûlée and buttercake w/ ice cream were also excellent). Highly recommended.
For nearly $300 including coffee(2) , draft beer(1) and tip....I expected every seafood entree ( Oceanblue) to be mouthwatering.
Love Utica and wish them all the best. We’d like to try again.
The food was excellent as always and the New England clam chowder was outstanding and I would definitely have it again!! There were a few things however, that were not great. Our server Jenna was ok but not great and I think she’s waited on us before. I had to ask her twice for lemon to go with my water. She didn’t bring the soup or salad even though she didn’t seem very busy. She did the bring the entree’s and came back once. She just didn’t go out of her way in my opinion. I also didn’t see any managers walking around to check on tables. If I did I would’ve mentioned this to them. This may be just because Sunday nights are more quiet for dining?? I’m not sure. Overall we would certainly come back because we love the restaurant!!
Great oysters! Bloody Mary’s were good too. We will drive 1.5 hours to dine again😊
Nice venue, service wasn’t great and food was overpriced for quality received.
From the time we entered to the time we left we were greeted with smiles and friendly talk. The food was great. Are server Viktor was fantastic. This was probably our third time there, and it will not be our last.
Best sea bass I’ve ever had in my life. Expensive, so know that going in. But for us it was worth it.
The everything tonight was one of the best tuners I’ve ever had. Server Ethan was professional and efficient.
We are always full & happy when we leave Ocean Blue. We have been at least 20 times since they opened a few years ago. Love it. Our favorite place in the area.
Had a great time, went for my birthday. food was amazing server was awesome will definitely go back.
Date night with my husband!! We started with drinks and then had a dozen of the Island Creek oysters. Just as the blackboard described..they were perfect!! For dinner I had the seabass which I absolutely love and would eat everyday. I love that it’s grilled simply and has a light flavor. I also am in love with the honey carrots and roasted potatoes. My husband had the everything tuna which seems to be his favorite entree. Everything was delicious. We finished the dinner with a Fall Butter Cake!! Yum! My only complaint if there is one is that I prefer my Apple topping slightly warmed but I know that gets hard to go with the ice cream because it’ll get messy and I understand that the restaurant wants a clean presentation. We’ll be back soon!
Great place to dine in Utica. Friendly and welcoming.
A wonderful anniversary dinner
We always have a fantastic experience here. One of our favorite restaurants ever since it opened 😄
Brandon was excellent... from meeting us at the front to seating us, taking our orders and serving us. He demonstrated superb attention, checking on us very appropriately and responding exactly as needed without interrupting conversation. The food was excellent in terms of presentation, temperature, and taste. It was an overall excellent dining experience! Thank you!
This place is amazing, it was our first time going and we went to celebrate my birthday, the food was SO good, service was fast and our waitress was very friendly. We will be going again very soon, highly recommend this restaurant.
It was absolutely great experience. The food was outstanding the service was great. It was my wife birthday and she had a wonderful time. The staff was extremely friendly and fast.
Fantastic. Beautiful patio, amazing food. All servers and mgmt were amazing and friendly.
Overall it was a good experience! Be careful on windy days - my wine took flight!
Rooftop dining on a perfect day. It was our first visit and won't be our last.
The waitstaff was friendly and the outdoor deck was beautiful.
The service was not bad, but the food was poor.
My wife and I were not pleased with the quality or flavor of the food ordered and will not be going back.
Good times and good vibes chilling with my friends
Great atmosphere and great food!
The range of offerings on the menus covers certain ground but is not extensive. What’s on there is generally good and there is some creativity. There are also add-on options like shrimp and beef tenderloin with lemon. Service was slow. Over 2 hr for salad, salmon and dessert, but that was fine because we weren’t in a rush. High on attitude. Had a relatively early reservation of 6:30, arrived 5 min early and was told a wait of 45 min. About 30% of tables outside and over 50% inside we’re empty. They were all properly spaced at more than 6 feet , so that wasn’t the reason. Had to complain and got an ok table immediately (why is this even necessary? So unprofessional for a restaurant of this level of pretension). And many tables remained vacant on a Friday evening through 8:45. The reason I’m not likely to go back any time soon is that it deflates the pleasure of an evening when you have a reservation, tables are available, and you have to brace yourself to argue for a table that you’re going to pay top dollar for.
