Oceanaire Seafood Room - San Diego
Food was beautifully presented but the service was horrific for a 600.00 meal. Seth was extremely kind and friendly but dinner lasted 4 hours due to such poor service. Not enough servers or buss people. Appetizer plates were collecting dust and our main order was not taken until 30 minutes after appetizers were finished. Seth was apologetic but it was still disappointing. My dinner was cooked well but was served slightly warm at best. Room temperature scallops and lobster and shrimp are still great but dinner should be served hot. This tells me food is sitting awhile before runners bring it out. It was our first and last time at Oceanaire. We normally dine at Ruth’s Chris and as many times as we have been there, we have never had a poor meal or a cold meal or poor service. Not nearly as many seafood selections there, but what good does the variety do if it can’t be served hot and timely. Perhaps it was an off night for Oceanaire, but they will not get my 600.00 again.
Wonderful food! While this is a "seafood" restaurant, I don't eat seafood; however, thoroughly loved the filet! Sooo flavorful and tender! My husband devoured his seafood and loved it as well! Great night out for his birthday! Excellent service, special experience!
Excellent dining experience! Our server, Seth, was extremely knowledgable, accommodating and friendly with our large party. The manager, Chris, was attentive and made sure to check on us. The food was out of this world! Large portions and excellent quality. Seth provided great recommendations and we all loved the bacon hash brown side dish.
We went for my boyfriends birthday and had a hell of a time! We are in the service industry ourselves, and this restaurant knows service! Not only was our server very attentive but other servers around our table helped too. Great oyster recommendations, great enrichment recommendations, great touch with the printed menu wishing my boyfriend a happy birthday. Overall fabulous experience.
Very good food with some innovative specials. We loved the visit here. It's a bit pricey so it felt like a special occasion restaurant.
Server Justin was awesome. Had lots of fun and enjoyed food very much!!
Great food, great Service
great food! excellent pricing, comfortably room, friendly staff
Seth is great!
This is my third visit to the Oceanaire Seafood Room and it always lives up to my expectations. Fabulous food offerings. My husband had crab legs and my daughter enjoyed lobster tails thermador. The food came to the table hot and seasoned to perfection. I highly recommend a nice evening out at this fine establishment.
We were a large corporate party and could not have been happier!
The wait staff were exceptional with us, and served our amazing appetizers and entrees beautifully.
We all felt very well taken care of. The dining room has an elegant, hip vibe and the acoustics were terrific!
For a large round table party of 11, we could hear every work spoken between ourselves!
Fantastic evening! Kudos to Oceanaire!!!
Great food and wonderful service!
Disgusting puddles of butter with fish and soggy mashed potatoes. Inedible
The food was excellent by here were 19 guests who all enjoyed their dinner but we did indicate at 6 when we arrived that we needed to be out by 7:45, and one table did not get their entrees until 15 minutes before we left. But always enjoy the food
My food was cold which is disappointing. I sent it the potatoes back and the bartender did take off the corkage fee but still disappointing.
We wanted a special place to celebrate our 48th anniversary and we found it at Oceanaire. The restaurant was recommended to us by a good friend and he was absolutely right. First of all we were seated in an excellent location that was comfortable and quiet. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. The appetizer, the entrees, and the complimentary desert were all wonderfully prepared, attractive and delicious. All in all, it was an experience that we will not soon forget and we look forward to returning there in the very near future.
Great service from the maitre’d and my server Brian! The food was wonderful and the portions were huge!
Love, love, love. Every time we dine at an Oceanaire restaurant...the food, and service are supreme! Thank you for your consistency!
My Sisters, and I had the most amazing time in the BEAUTIFUL, and Outstanding Restaurant!!!! Thank you!
I highly recommend Oceanaire Seafood Room. This was my 2nd time there and my wife and I enjoy it very much. Great wine list - lots of options. The crab cakes are delicious! Our entrees were excellent. We had the Baked Alaska - my only problem is we were too full to completely enjoy it! The ambiance is great - we had a great view of the street outside and could enjoy watching out the window while we ate. Tables are nicely spaced apart so we're not listening to other conversations. All in all it's a "must-attend" restaurant - you won't be disappointed.
We originally planned dinner for a group of 4 and had to change the party to 10. After one call, they changed the reservation with little notice and ensured our party was delighted with dinner. Amazing food and service.
I choice the restaurant because I want to have seafood. The occasion was a dinner with my brother. The atmosphere is a little out dated. To many male waiters: felt oddly noticeable.
As a small party I didn’t feel appreciated. I had to ask for the specials and a review of the menu -Very odd.
The food was good. I enjoyed the quality of the fish. End of the day that is key with fish and etc.
I probably would come back but I would try another place first for better atmosphere.
Food was amazing!
Cynthia our food server was very friendly. We love going to Oceanaire. The warm sourdough bread, the hash browns, shrimp & grits are a must.
My boyfriend and I come often, and I wanted to bring my friend out to have a Double Date for her Birthday and it was amazing again. Love this place.. everything was great from getting greeted to the good night.
Oceanaire was great and service was awesome. Third time dining here and Oceanaire was great as always! Keep up the gods work and will be coming back.
The food was good but the service was poor this time compared to other times I have been there. Started off with the waiter getting the wrong order/ Not sure if it was due to Restaurant Week. It was very rushed and lack of attention. It was the greatest experience I must say.
It was our second time there celebrating my birthday. This time, we brought our children. Everything was excellent. Food was great. Service was great. The children were happy. I loved the personal touch on my b-day menu. The maitre-de/manager/staff was very friendly. Sean did an excellent job taking care of us. If we had questions, he was more than happy to help explain things. Restroom is clean. Room ambiance is great. Our view near the window was awesome. I have bragged about your restaurant to my fellow co-workers and friends. OVERALL SCORE = 10+ Thank you very much and see you again soon.
Fish was salty and fishy toasting. Swordfish was ordered, disappointed to say the least.
Bathrooms were not clean.
My daughter and I went to Oceanside to celebrate our joint birthday and had a wonderful time. The food was outstanding- the crab cakes were exceptional. Justin our waiter was terrific! So professional and a lot of fun!
We were warmly greeted by Chris, the manager, and shown to a booth. Our server, Cynthia, did an excellent job, and the food was delicous as usual.
We ate there for restaurant week. The choices were good. I had the Salmon and my wife had the jidori chicken. Both were cooked nicely and the side dishes were tasty as well. My creme brule dessert was excellent.
The waiter was nice and helpful.
The only downside was the list of wines by the glass was quite limited. We really love zins, especially old vine zins and there wasn't a single zinfandel on the list. Very odd.
We do plan to go back and check out their happy hour.
The food was phenomenal and the service was great as well. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Incredible food with impeccable service. Every time.
Great food, service, and ambience.
Oceanaire is on of my top restaurant picks in San Diego. However during restaurant week, I have to say that it was a bit of a disappointment. I had gone there with a friend whom I had boasted to about how great the food was the last time I was there. We certainly enjoyed the oyster bar, but was not as enchanted with the restaurant week menu. The chicken was overly salty and so was the fish. The key lime pie tasted like it came from Costco. Service was really slow due to a big table of 11 people who occupied 80% of the waiters attention. I guess you get what you pay for during restaurant week. I'll stick to the regular menu in the future as it is much more tasty and the dining experience would be memorable in a positive way.
Excellent service, thank you Josh!
We ordered the wild snook for the entree. 3 out of 4 diners.
The fish served was not snook. It was very fishy yellowtail.
None of us finished our meals.
I fish in California, Mexico and Florida and can definitely tell the difference in the the quality and type of fish.
We love Oceanaire! We had crab legs, salmon. The cook came by to say Hi. Yum...
Disappointing, took my wife and daughter for a birthday celebration and it was insulting. We were seated in a both with a chair making 3 seats. We had drinks and appetizers then a sudden change with tables next to us. Dishes clatter, staff clambering to rearrange seating as main course arrived. Unfortunately meat was way undercooked for the birthday girl had it sent back. While waiting staff arrive with folding screens to shield our table for new configuration now a buffet with standing guest hovering over our table putting drinks and plates on our booth. Loud and invading. Management too little to late suggested we move halfway through our meal after we brought it to their attention . No class or consideration obviously large party was the focus. Rude and insulting evening. Weak management response to our dining displeasure.
We like to be treated as guests and will avoid Oceanaire going forward.
