Extremely lovely ambiance and friendly service
The wait staff appeared to be disinterested and judgemental of clientele. The chefs were lovely so it’s a shame that kindness and hospitality wasn’t extended to the wait staff.
The food didn’t hit the mark. Starters were fantastic but the pastas were all underwhelming. Overall, disappointing experience (particularly when parting with $130 per head).
It’s a shame because the ambience is wonderful and the chefs are lovely people - they just need to refine the flavours (and some dishes were served a bit cold) and improve the overall attitude on those serving you.
Dear Jess thank you so much for your comments! those are very important to us! I m really sad to hear you felt unwelcomed and not warmly attended by my floor staff, definitely this is not our standards, i can assure and that s why i personally want to apology first and then make sure this never gonna happens again! we really hope to see you again at Olio and we all make sure to give you the best of the hospitality experience lino
We decided to try the degustation menu, It was not disappointing, with amazing food, service, and Sicilian Red wine. Would definitely recommend it.
Grab your friends and go
The food and service was absolutely amazing. Lino was especially friendly.
My only complaint would be that if your restaurant is called Olio, I would have liked to try some of the olive oil you use with some bread as a complimentary starter. Can't fault anything else
The dining room is nicely presented and tables are a good size. The amuse bouche was a little too big for one mouthful but quite tasty. The first course of octopus was over seasoned. The second course of prawn ravioli had some excellent flavor and the prawn was bursting fresh. The pasta however tasted like it was made the previous day. The John Dory served for the third course was unfortunately overcooked and overpowered by the excessive quantity and flavor of the black sauce. The wagyu was a highlight, beautifully cooked and full of flavor. The desert was unfamiliar, probably for good reason. It was nice to see the restauranteur on the floor, serving some courses and engaging patrons. Their passion is evident.
Absolutely superb food, wine, and service. Outstanding.
Overpriced average food. But the waitress we had was friendly and enthusiastic
Awesome Sicilian restaurant.
I don't understand how this place still got a 4 stars rating on Google
1. Décor was nice and the presentation of the dishes was on point, yet the analogy I will give to their food(especially their pastas) would be a beautiful person with a boring personality. I have never had a bland squid ink pasta anywhere else but here and that Social Hideout café, which was expectable for that café as it's all for gram. Yet when you are charging $30-$40 bucks for a pasta dish, you better believe I will be expecting some explosive spectacular flavors instead of some noodles that tasted like the chef doesn't know how to season properly. Both the squid ink pasta and the special pasta that day were pretty much sauceless and tasteless
2. We got charged for a bowl of potatoes which we never ordered. I am pretty certain I did not stutter when stating 2 entrees and 2 mains that the waiter could possibly misheard an extra "potato" side
Fair enough that it has been pretty rough for the hospitality industry, but doing this just so you can sponge off the customers here and there is just uncalled for. I would've just bit my tongue if the dishes were actually tasty but they weren't, including that bowl of potato
3. After leaving the restaurant I received a text from a stranger's number basically tried to hit on me, turned out it was one of the staff from the restaurant. I am assuming that he got a hold of my number through my booking details. So not only I had a very disappointing dining experience I then had to have my personal information violated afterwards.
Will not go back nor recommend it to anyone else.
The food was not as good as the last time I came about 2 years ago. A little bit too fussy and try hard , not as much of that classic excellent simple strong Sicilian.
Service was ok but not good at the beginning. I was expecting instant service- drink and menu on arrival.
Pleasant and friendly service though
Great food, reasonably priced wine list with a selection of Italian wines and good service
The food was exceptional
The service was very professional and attentive and flowing.
A very enjoyable experience
The best Italian restaurant in Sydney ...........::::::::
Great food and service, would highly recommend and dine again soon.
Dear Brendan thank you so much! we looking forward to have you at Olio again soon!
The food was very underwhelming! No flavour, pasta over cooked. Entrees were quite tasteless.
Great service and amazing foods. We had a great time celebrating husbands birthday
Dear Tracey we are very glad you guys had great time with us we will definitely looking forward to have to host you again at Olio
Lovely restaurant, delicious tasting menu. We were extremely well looked after
dear Caroline we highly appreciate your kind words! cheers lino
Very good food and service
A must visit place for southern authentic Italian food
It’s was Great food and the staff were great.
Excellent seafood zuppa. Great experience overall.
Good food and service
Celebrated our first wedding anniversary with dinner at Olio (as we had our wedding lunch there last year) and we were treated like old friends by the staff. Amazing food and service, with wonderful touches like a happy anniversary cake.
Amazing foods and fantastic hospitality services within gentle vibes. You should try this awesome restaurant :)
Our dinner experience has been outstanding from the beginning to the end.
We enjoyed the ambience, the service, the wine and the food was just amazing.
Chef Lino Sauro is a Maestro in his job and I would recommend this experience to all my frends.
Thank you to all the staff at Olio Kensington Street!
Restaurant was great , food was awesome, just needed a little more on the mains.
Staff were really friendly and very competent. We were there for our anniversary, treated us with some champagne and some beautiful extra desert.
Really good would go back again.
Dear Peter absolutely happy to hear from your experience at Olio We are very glad that you guys had a very good time with us. Looking forward to have you here again soon Lino
Food and service were fantastic!...will definitely go back and tell family and friends about the restaurant- my cousin recommended it to me!
A great location and fantastic food. Not too formal, great spot for a semi-fancy, very tasty lunch or dinner.
We loved the Sicilian waitress and the food and wine were delicious
Very beautiful place, a pity that no more customers were enjoying the food due to this situation, but still we felt a really good atmosphere. More intimate.
Food was absolutely phenomenal, every bite we had felt like a party was being held in our mouths. Polipo and scallops are a must as starters if you go there. All four of us had pasta as a main dish and none of them disappointed. Ravioli and papardelle were our favourites and the cheesecake for dessert was something next level. The semifredo and cannolo were ok but cannot compare to that cheesecake.
Definitely coming back, looks perfect and ideal for celebrating a special occasion.
Dear Javier your kind words make us very happy and give us more reason to keep on although the adverse circumstances!
Amazing flavours. Attentive service and the chef serving was a great touch ti the experience.
Dear Vic great to see you at Olio ! looking forward again
Have been a fan since it opened a few years ago.
The degustation was excellent and each dish inventive, attractive and delicious.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
For us, superlatives apply here!
Dear Berry ! absolutely flattered about our comments! thank you so much for the long time and precious support
Loved this restaurant. Food was delicious and the wait staff were exceptional. The interiors were beautiful too. Would highly recommend to anyone.
The food is amazing there, a bit pricey but worthy of it. Highly recommended. Also try their Italian white wine, very beautiful wine .
Sensational! Always great food and great service.
The food portions are quite small and the food was nothing special. It does say that they recommend 2 dishes per person. For the price you pay, however, it was not worth the experience. The service was not the best. I got the bill and waited 5 minutes for someone to help me with the payment. He then just drops the EFTPOS machine onto the table and walks away.
Really pleasant meal at Olio ... octopus starter a standout.
Loved my entrees .( octopus and calamari)
Lobster pasta was good but not outstanding.
Cannolo with ricotta was perfectly made.
We will definitely coming back .
It was lovely to experience Sicilian cuisine especial now when we can't travel to Sicily, so we got lucky and Sicily came to us :)
Fantastic food and service - a place we will return to again and again
