Opa! - Willow Glen
Made reservation for outside seating. Got there, were told heaters don’t work and patio wasn’t set up. So we ate inside. Bartender was wearing his mask around the bottom of his chin the whole time we were there.
We ordered apps, beer and vodka mule. We got our appetizer and almost finished it before we got our drinks due to bartender chatting with friends at bar. Over 15 minutes to get two drinks in an almost empty restaurant.
Food tasted good but mood was ruined with having to ask about drinks three times. Each time being told sorry they are being made and will be here soon. We planned on having a couple drinks each. But with such slow service I cancelled my drink and instead of us having 4 or 5 total drinks for our table we just had one. Cost the restaurant probably $50 in drinks not ordered. I guess $$$ is not needed there.
Oh well. My 1st and last time there. Definitely not a good experience.
It took some time for wait person to visit our table, and the glass of red wine was skimpy.
Took 50 minutes to get a water. Only reason that a waiter came is because we asked multiple times. People who were seated way after us were served food before we even were visited by a worker.
Food was good but extremely slow. It took over 40 minutes for fries to come out as an appetizer, then another 30 minutes for our food to come out.
The service was very poor. Drinks and food took too long to come out. Salad had brown lettuce. Dessert was not warm nor did it taste homemade.
Our server ana was incredible! She was friendly and helpful, best service I’ve ever gotten!
Nice place and beautiful atmosphere
A bit Expensive though
Opa is always tasty, a nice change from the normal pasta, salads, burgers etc. Prices are on point for the quality.
The martini when delivered to the table had an oily film on the surface. The waitress was no where to be found. She never checked on us or gave us any communication regarding the kitchen delays. The entrees arrived after a 30 minute wait. The lamb was rare. We left. It was not about to improve.
We started eating at Opa 4 years ago. The manager, Oscar, ran a tight ship. He was on the floor attending to everyone. He was great.
Service has steadily declined
In their defense Covid is hurting many businesses. We will call this an exceptional night
Hopefully it will be repeat
Got there early and was seated right away but near the door with a very cool breeze coming in. Asked to move and would only move us one table over which made no difference. They would not close the door.
Frito Misto came out quickly and was hot and delicious.
We ordered the beef skewers and chicken skewers. It took forever! The beef was ordered medium rare and it was practically mooing. The chicken was very dry and overdone. The wild rice pieces in the rice pilaf were crunchy…definitely not done
Service was poor. We waited for a server to come to our table for 10 minutes. We were only the 4th table seated in the entire restaurant. Came back to get our order 15 minutes after that. Once the dinner arrived she never came back until we were done and I had my credit card in my hand.
Very very disappointing. There were 8 employees just standing around much of the time. I will stick to the Los Gatos location if this is the way it usually is in Willow Glen.
It was Friday, but not super busy and service was terrible. We were ready to order our entire meal when the waiter finally got to us to try to speed things up and after my daughter's lemonade eventually came, ad another 10 minutes went by before my partner's Prosecco, and then 5 minutes later the Waiter came by and told me the glass of red wine I ordered was sold out and said she would go get the wine menu. It came after our first course arrived, my daughter's meatloaf, which she enjoyed but I'm not sure what was Greek about it. Then most of our dishes arrived in very random order -- "Greek Chef's salad came last (not sure why Greek - no black olives and no feta cheese, with some sort of white ranch dressing), my partner's roast chicken (under cooked and tasteless), then my grilled lamb souvlaki that was not grilled and no spices -- blandest lamb I think I've very tasted. The bed of pilaf rice it came on was hard and barely cooked. Then our meatball appetizer arrived which we had ordered first to share. Those were actually very good with a spicey tomatoe sauce. All of these were dropped off by other servers and finally our waiter arrived and asked if we needed anything -- I mentioned my wine and my daughter's avgolemono soup had no yet arrived. 10 minutes later she dropped off my Zinfandel with one of the smallest pours I think I've ever seen. My daughter's soup came after that and it was barely warm.
Enjoyed the meal. Food is excellent. Service a bit slow. My wife’s iced tea never came
Slow service, and small portions compared to what we are used to (and we have been going to Opa’s for 10 yrs)
We went there on a Friday at 7pm with a reservation. We were seated right away. The server came within minutes, brought water and took our order quickly. I ordered the flank steak and my wife ordered the lettuce wraps. Food came in a reasonable amount of time, however my medium rare steak came out almost well done. Bummer. My wife said her meal was good. It was very loud in the place so if you want to have a quiet dinner you’ll be disappointed. Overall I give it a 4.
Great ambiance and service. Good didn’t take long and was great tasting.
Free corkage on 1st bottle of wine helps with the increased priced menu. Opa fries are the best!
Ryan was a great waiter. He provided excellent service and a special bday experience. Thank you Ryan!!
Food was super delicious. Fair prices
Lousy service overall. The waiter missed a meal, brought it 30min later and didn’t offer to provide a discount
- not enough distance between tables
- poor service
- food was not great
- over pricey for the quality
- we were made to sit next to a large group with people from the group almost passing our table
Inexperienced server. Appetizer arrived with no plates ..had to ask twice to get them. By the time we got the plates, entrees arrived. Salad dressing on the side had no dressing delivered… etc. The Sangria was it usual fabulous.
We had 6:15 reservations and were seated right away on the front patio. The server promptly took our drink order, then an appetizer order which also arrived soon thereafter, except we didn’t have plates. The patio was getting full, so we flagged a server to ask for plates. Despite all of the tables around us being attended to, no one returned to our table for over 30 minutes - we never received plates and no one came to fill water glasses or anything. We had to flag another server to request putting in our order - salads. We again waited almost another 1/2 hour and had to flag down our server AGAIN. I explained we were in a time crunch at this point and asked when we could expect dinner. She asked if we wanted it to go. At this point it is 7:40. I said no but please bring the check with the food. She said the kitchen was backed up - I pointed out it did not appear backed up for all of the other diners around us who had all arrived after us. The salads arrived soon after, without dressing. Par for the course of our experience.
Waited 50min and got served only water. We just left.
The patio was full so our reservation was moved inside, but it was no big deal. The meal was unreal amazing. 10/10 recommend the flatbreads & the lamb.
we arrived on time for our reservation but the doors were locked. Called the restaurant and they said they were open but couldn’t open the doors because the manager was late. Tables weren’t set up for customers (still dirty). We had to keep asking for utensils, waters, napkins etc. Restaurant wasn’t crowded but service was slow. Food was ok but some items were too salty
I have been to many other location sadly this one disappointed me. Service was very lack luster and most of our food was way undercooked. Don’t order the appetizer falafels, it’s just a round ball of raw falafel mix. Drinks were actually good. Well made and generous.
Always love coming here. Yummy brunch menu. Such a relaxing spot on a Saturday for brunch.
Passable "strip mall Greek" with nods to authenticity (retsina is actually on the wine list!) and solid cocktails, but ultimately falling a little flat in flood quality. Slightly mushy orzo, lamb shank a little short on flavor (but perfectly tender). Service was cheerful and professional and heat lamps were helpful for outdoor night dining. Environment was a little loud, especially later in the night, challenging casual conversation.
Great food...good service!!!!
The patio chairs scrapping on the cement is horrible ! The sound is so annoying and disruptive to conversation. Good Grief please put rubber caps on the chair legs! I’ll buy them from Home Depot for you!!!!
Our annual, Back to School dinner the night before school starts.
We sat outside for safety purposes and due to the construction on the street out front, as well as people milling about not seated in the restaurant, the noise level was exceptionally high. It took a long time for the food to arrive and our server, while pleasant, didn't check in with us very often. We had to flag her down more than once. Portions of the food were tasty - the fries were not good, but the biggest issue was how many flies were lighting on our table and near our food, and finally on our food which ended our meal. I've been dining outside frequently at various restaurants and have never had a problem with flies. This makes me think it's dirty and that's not at all appetizing. Very disappointing as I've always had good experiences at this location. To be fair, they were all pre-COVID and all inside.
The best part of the dining experience was the skinny margarita which the bartender had to look up on how to make! Bravo to him he did a great job. But food overall was mediocre at best
The greek salad was very good. Thel and was fatty and very tough.
Hostess and server were friendly, genuine and attentive. The food was fabulous as always, decent wine selection, and it was a perfect day for lunch on the patio.
We ordered zucchini cakes, spread sampler and seafood sandwich. None of them was good. The zucchini cakes were tough and burnt. The pita bread that went with the spread was stale and hard. The scallop on the sandwich was not fresh and drenched in tzatziki and the accompanying fries were soggy and barely warm. Overall a disappointment. Definitely won't go back again.
Was disappointed by visit. It took three requests and 10 minutes to get my water glass refilled. Food was just average, especially given prices.
The moussaka was bland and tasteless. It was haphazardly presented in a bowl and did not at all look appealing. Have had it better at many other restaurants.
Nice place, good food and perfect service.
We went to celebrate a birthday and they serve a little dessert with a candle.
Very attentive service.
We will be back
Shared 3 dishes: moussaka, salad & gyro sandwich and a bottle of Pinot Noir. We also enjoyed sharing an order if baklava for dessert. Our server was kind enough to move us into a shady area on the patio since afternoon sun was very hot. This is our favorite Opa location that beats Morgan Hill and Campbell for sure!! We'll be back!
Everything was perfect. Our waiter was awesome and all the servers were so kind. Super fun and the food was amazing as always.
