This place is a gem.
It was our second visit and we were celebrating my wife's birthday.
The service was impeccable, the filets fabulous, and a very nicely presented birthday dessert made the whole evening.
The only small issue is that the bar needs to carry Roses Lime Juice for a proper vodka gimlet.
We have been here many times but our server was less than stellar. She forgot request that we made, debated what wine we wanted later instead of giving us the wine menu back, etc. It's probably time for her to retire. Also noticed they raised their prices. I never complained before but it's becoming ridiculous. You aren't in downtown Chicago. This used to be our go to for any special night out.....we may now look elsewhere.
Our reservation table was ready when we arrived. The decor is very nice, and the wait staff had a roaring twenties flapper theme going on that evening. The ambiance included a pianist/saxophonist setting the sounds of current movie and popular themes. The four of us all had different meals and all were delicious along with being prepared as we asked. The appetizer we split all ways were mussels in a Spanish chorizo sauce. Could have used more crispy bread on the side to sop up the delicious sauce. Salads were large and fresh. Desserts were decadent and very tasty. We will go back when the occasion returns. Very pleased and content with our dining experience.
This is our second trip to this restaurant and we hoped for a better experience unfortunately that was not the case. The atmosphere and service are fantastic but the food is just ok. The crab cake appetizer was cold, my Parmesan crusted Chilean sea bass was slimy and my husbands strip steak was over cooked (order medium and received well done). It took an exceptionally long time to get our food after ordering despite the fact that the dining room was less than half full. Very disappointing.

My wife and I visited the Opera House for the first time during restaurant week. The historic building is a beautiful place for a very upscale restaurant. We ordered from the special menu and our meals were delicious! The wait staff was very attentive and we totally enjoyed our dinner. We plan on visiting again!

I loved the atmosphere, the décor is excellent, the staff dress in era clothing which was great. Really a beautiful place, excellent for a special night out. The food was ok and a little on the pricey side.

AS 'ALWAYS WE ARE VERY PLEASED IN OUR DINING AT THE OPERA HOUSE. AND WHAT ALSO MAKES IT EVEN MORE OF AN ENJOYABLE EVENING IS HAVING RACHAEL AS OUR SERVER. SHE IS ALWAYS SO PLEASANT,WARM AND VERY HELPFUL IN TERMS OF ORDERING. LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR NEXT TIME BEING THERE.
The atmosphere and service were excellent I really enjoyed the live music. The appetizer of crabcakes was very very good my main course was poor, I had the steak which is a really poor cut of meat and the mac & cheese was an edible.
We had a lovely evening. The restaurant was busy as we expected for Valentine’s Day weekend however the service was still wonderful. They kept their amazing bread coming and our food was fresh and delicious! I got the surf and turf and my bf got the pork it was fried to our surprise with capers absolutely delicious 🤤 😊 we will be back

Disappointing. This was our first time there. Service was pretty slow. My filet was very good but food was luke warm. Potatoes and veggies were overseasoned. There was no green vegetable (other than salad which is extra) on the menu which I have never experienced at a nice steak place. Beautiful place, nice live music.
The server was very very bad. Ordered a drink which is served at every established restaurant waited 25 minutes for the drink and it wasn't what I ordered. My wife's steak was very good, but my prime rib was awful.
Had to ask for water waitress never asked if we wanted more drinks had to ask for salt and pepper in all the rating and experience may have been better if we had a different waitress no photos felt very rushed in my dining experience
Our food was very delicious as usual. I think the only issue was there was a computer malfunction or the tickets stopped coming through the kitchen, so our food took a little longer. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very friendly.

CHICAGO prices with sub-par food. Need to serve substantially better quality food and desserts or substantially drop their pricing.
Always wanted to try this restaurant, and am glad we finally did. Service was slow and forgetful. The waitress struggled to remember any of the specials, and seemed to struggle to form full sentences because she was so distracted. We had pot stickers for our small plates, and didn’t receive actual plates to eat off of till eight minutes later because our server kept forgetting. My husbands Guinness was very poorly poured and tasted as if it was quickly dumped from a bottle. My Manhattan had no flavor and one sad black cherry floating in the bottom. The prices are outrageous for the food quality. Five dollars for a bowl of “Chicken Florentine “,which was basically just a thin cream based broth, spinach, and faint whispers of chicken particles. The main course itself was decent. However, $45 for an 8oz filet that’s topped with tiny shrimp, whipped potatoes, carrots and green beans seems a bit excessive. That was just the cost of one plate. The total was a $125 beyond basic meal. Because the tables are so close together against the wall, the bus boy was constantly knocking my chair. It felt like I was in an airplane being kicked from behind. Nothing sets this restaurant apart, will not recommended and wouldn’t go back.
First time there and we live about 8 miles away. The food was excellent but the service was fair. Never came back and asked if we wanted a second drink. Not sure if we could have gotten bread with the salads, it looks it might have been available but never knew.
The only item I would advise is being offered somewhere to hang coats. Upon leaving I was told there was a closet, at check in nothing was mentioned. Very cumbersome at tables and coats hanging off chairs.-Great restaurant though.
Always a great time, never a disappointment with food or service. We keep coming back because it is so wonderful, kudos to Joe Valentine and Chef Nick Dispenza!
My husband & I celebrated an early Valentine’s dinner date. It was our first time eating at the Opera House. We highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try. Food was delicious and our server Brandi was absolutely wonderful. We truly enjoyed ourselves.
Food was absolutely amazing!! Our server Deadre was awesome. She answered all questions and everything she recommended was so delicious!! Such a comfortable environment and we will definitely be returning.

First time visiting this restaurant and will be back for sure! The menu had so many items I wanted to try! Everything we ordered was excellent! I mean when someone mentions to their significant other that even the vegetables on the side were the best they ever had....the restaurant is doing something right. Also, love the 1920’s look of the restaurant and waitstaff!
We used a groupon for our dinner. No issues validating. The waitress was very pleasant and personable.Food was good .my wife had the salmon which she thought was very good. I had the chicken and it was good also. We plan on going there on a Tuesday since it is $25 for a steak meal deal
We were really looking forward to dinner after hearing about the wonderful reviews. Unfortunately we were highly disappointed and won’t be returning. Atmosphere is adorable - server was friendly and informative. We started with red wine which was tasty but VERY overpriced. I know bottles are usually double, triple retail value but our bottle was $59 and sold at Binny’s for $12.99. That up charge is insane. Our crab cake appetizer was very good - then we had the soup of the day which was a cream of potato with bacon. Very watered down, not creamy and beside the bacon there was weird clumps of meat we couldn’t figure out if it was ground beef or sausage. Wasn’t that good. The most disappointing was our $40 , 10pz filets that came with baby red mashed potatoes and vegetable. The filet had such a grainy odd texture - it honestly didn’t taste like steak. Either it was very poor quality beef or a different cut. I took two bites and didn’t eat anything else. The mashed potatoes were 100% boxed, instant mashed potatoes. I was honestly in shock that a expensive, 4 star restaurant used boxes potatoes. At the end of the night and a bill of over $200 for just 2 people I will never return. That food was complete garbage - it’s a shame because it’s very cute on the inside, local and I wanted to love it but that food was just terrible.

I went here because of the groupon deals. We ordered crab cakes and NY steak. The steaks was cooked perfectly but disappointed most part are very chewy.
Never again. Charging a 4% credit card surcharge is unacceptable.

This was our first time eating at Opera House Steak and Seafood. The restaurant is decorated like a speakeasy. Even the servers are dressed to match. Our server was very nice and helpful when it came to making choices regarding entrees or number of appetizers. We each had a glass of wine or a mixed drink, all of which were excellent. The food was no less than amazing. Our table of 6 had prime rib, T-bone (or porterhouse) steak, and sea bass. I tried all of the entrees and they were all delicious. I liked the sides as well. The risotto was my favorite. We tried two of the desserts and the carrot cake (of which I am a fan) was the best I have ever had. The end result was $150 per couple including tip, which given the quality of the food, was well worth it.
This is the perfect date night location. It made going out to dinner an experience. The food was phenomenal, the ambiance was beautiful, fantastic service. It was a wonderful experience and we cant wait to return.
I'm sorry, but we were not happy with the food. Appetizers were not good at all and the "Ribeye" looked more like a cheap thin sirloin steak from Sizzler. (no offense to Sizzler) The baked oysters had no flavor as described. They had no taste at all. I usually don't write a review, but I have many friends who had been there that raved about it, but for the money we spent there and what we received, it did not match up. We could have gone to Sullivan's or Gibson's and got a much better mean for the money. Very disappointed.
The historic building and decor are fantastic and a far cry above any competition in local area. That being said, the food was mediocre for the money. My filet was cooked to my liking (med. rare), but it was underseasoned with salt and pepper, and the meat was not high enough quality for the price. Potatoes were good but not great, same for the vegetables.
