Great food and service is excellent. Specials are usually suggested and we’ve always been happy. The portions are not super sized and save room for desserts Italian style.

Went for a stroll down State Street looking for a place to dine. Of the many options we chose Oppi'z because the menu looked interesting, the prices were decent, and a glass of wine came with our entree (5-7pm).
Very impressed. Our new favorite place (after Aldo's, Max's and Blue Door have lamentably closed down one after another). Came back a week later and sampled more of the menu, and currently have two more meals with friends booked there.
Perfect crust under the Black Margarita pizza. Delectable blackened chicken tops the Chicken & Avocado Timabal. The Portofino rice bottle was novel, with excellent texture. And check out that Bruschetta. Will want to try everything on the menu.

Terrific presentation and a real effort with fresh ingredients an innovative combinations. We truly enjoyed the food and attentive, knowledgeable service. Loved the special touch of "celebration" flatware!
One thing the entire table agreed upon: the description "lukewarm" is off-putting for that fabulous bottle concoction and may mean people skip ordering - which would be a shame.
PIZZA so delicious.(Black crust) Generous amount of tomato sauce and cheese. Also, the tower of eggplant so delicious. The waitress very attentive and refilled water and ice tea without us asking. Definitely would come back to State Street, no cars, and Covid safety rules in place.
I don't know the last time I was this blown away by an establishment. I expected something more akin to a "pizzeria," and instead felt like I was transported to the south of Italy. I haven't tasted pizza like this since being in Europe. The food was not only fresh and delectable-- it was special. I didn't want the meal to attend. The service was outstanding (Kelly and Brooke), and I can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

Good food! I think they were slightly understaffed which made for a different dining experience but considering everything going on, it’s understandable! Great prices and an extensive menu.
It was a friendly and innovative version of an Italian eatery, the server was helpful and charming and food was very good. They did a good job of adapting to the new Covid guidelines, and we felt safe. Would recommend it to others.
They have created a very nice outdoor dining area since State St is closed to automobile traffic. Our food was delicious and the service was great. Very enjoyable first night out since lockdown!
First time trying this place. I liked the decor and ambiance. I felt that some of the items we ordered, pasta carbonara, could have used more flavor. When asked to add to that dish, we were declined. The vegetarian rice dish was very flavorful.
Best pizza/food in Santa Barbara! I bring out-of-towners here every chance I get. Everything I have tried on the menu is phenomenal.
We came in for the prefix menu and were sadly underwhelmed Rice in a glass bottle is not dinner.
Oppi’z has authentic Italian food. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who moved here from Italy two years ago. The food is much more subtle and refined than American Italian cooking. There are many diverse and interesting options such as black rice appetizers and mason jar salads. This is fine dining, not a pizza joint. The service was exceptional, Michael took wonderful care of us! Highly recommended!
We visited early evening during restaurant week. Food was excellent. Very nice Italian wine selection. Very quiet setting since restaurant was nearly empty at 6pm on a Friday night. A bit surprising.
The place is very nice and the menu looks exciting. But the food was mostly average. We had the Sanremo Rice in the Bottle and while it sounded exciting it was bland and not very warm. And I really like grains like farro, quinoa and brown rice. I don't need cheesy or salty sauces but this dish didn't have flavor. Also had the Pere e Zola (pear and gorgonzola) pizza. The crust was nice and overall it was nice but not that special. My son had the Lasagne which he liked. For desert we ordered the Chocolate Caprese Cake and the Cheesecake. The chocolate cake was excellent -- not unnecessarily sweet, great dry chocolate flavor and nice texture with the nuts. The cheesecake was not to our liking -- it was gelatinous and not pleasing. We left over half of it. The waitress was very nice, just vey inexperienced and generally very awkward.

Not even greeted at front door. Owner I assume visibly stressed on phone, then stressed again when tell him name of reservation. Not a relaxing greeting and pretty indicative of dining experience here. Had to ask for dressing for 2 side salads - waitress brought us two plates of undressed lettuce with a few slices of cucumber and some cherry tomatoes. And side salads are extra. Got paste, not dressing. Could not even pour it was so thick. Food very bland, pizza mediocre, mason jar barely an entree and no flavor or seasoning. Brought check without even asking us if we wanted dessert which we did. Then ordered dessert and chocolate cake blah - did not even really taste very chocolate-y - had hair in it, not served with ice cream or cream and was dry (no icing or anything), cheesecake had some weird gelatinous topping that was slimy and gross. Service was very inattentive and waitress could have cared less if we liked our food.
A bit loud, but only because it was Valentines Day and they had an accordion player.

Loved black crust pizza
The wait staff are friendly. Only concern would be to return to fill water. We had appetizers beverages with our meal, over a hour time frame... more water service, without having to waive them over to fill. And they didn't ask if we wanted coffee to end our evening with our desert. odd.. We have enjoyed 3 meals there so far since the opening so we now assume that is how they train the staff here. We will just be asking or waiving for our needs.
We visited with friends, everyone was delighted with the food and atmosphere. The appetizer "Tower" was really excellent, my pasta Carbonara very good, the others seemed to enjoy theirs as well. The owner stopped to chat and was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend the restaurant, we will be back.
I really like this new addition to Santa Barbara's restaurant scene. It's not a pizza joint and it's not traditional Italian -- indeed, the menu is full of new and interesting, and tasty, items like black bruschetta (my favorite of the appetizers) and black rice bottles and lukewarm jars (vertical salads). As a vegan, I have not tasted widely off the menu, but these vertical bottles are fresh and interesting and flavorful. I tried a vegan pizza without any cheese the other night (I don't like daiya, their vegan alternative) and I wouldn't do it again without asking for more tomato sauce to make up for the missing cheese. It might also be nice if they tried a different vegan cheese, as daiya has a strong flavor that can be overpowering. I do want to go back and try the other vegan options among the black rice bottles and lukewarm jars. And I always appreciate a restaurant that tries to accommodate vegans!

Our server was so good to us, always smiling. Polite and attentive. The owner, came over to our table to check how we liked the food. Great place. We had a really enjoyable time!

We have been eating here almost once a week now and this place keeps getting better. There are even new dishes on the menu - pasta, fish... probably our favorite, absolutely recommended.
Absolutely amazing. We tried two of their non-conventional pizzas and we loved them. I highly suggest trying the more weird-sounding ones, we tried the Sicilia and Pere e Zola and the flavor combinations were incredible. They also served us the best lasagna I have ever tried, and tiramisu for dessert was delicious. Great imported wines, friendly and attentive staff, quick service. No complaints here, only compliments. Will definitely be coming back!
Food is very good, Pizza crust is perhaps best I’ve had in a long time...BUT portions on some things like the lasagna are small. No salad included even with a $23 tiny-portioned main entree!
Nice looking Italian on State Street. What could go wrong? Start with ordering a mixed drink and receiving 3 ounces. A polite complaint produced another 3 ounces, but another $9 on my check.
Then the food. Chic Italian menu produced items brought out one at a time: that awkward moment when you have to tell one person to go ahead and “eat while it’s hot.” Then comes everyone else’s food — and it’s NOT hot.
So $100 for not even warm pizza, a bowl of early-delivered pasta, a four ounce glass of wine and 6 ounces of mimosa. Should have noted the nearly empty restaurant and taken a pass.

Excellent creative food. Really unusual and super good. One of the best pizzas I’ve had in a very long time. Great service. Great ambience. Tables are far enough away so you can actually here but warm and cozy environment. Pictures of the family history on the walls or fun. Charming owner. Amazing gluten-free choices. Try the chocolate dessert, really special.
Relatively new in town, and a welcome addition to Santa Barbara cuisine. Extensive menu with many (not just a couple) unique dishes, including some interesting "bottle" and "jar" dishes. (Curious? Go check them out!) In particular, there are myriad selections for vegeterians and even vegans. We've had two of their pizzas, and wow, they were delicious. We will be back. Often.
The black dough pizza crust is delicious. The dough is soft with just enough crunch.
The food was interesting and tasty. The atmosphere was corporate cafeteria. Frankly not an inviting environment.
This must be the best kept secret in Santa Barbara! Our pizza was outstanding...we'd just been in Italy and have to say this pizza was better than any one we had there...I can't wait to try other items on the menu!

An Italian couple who are friends of ours suggested we try this new place on State st and we were so impressed! We tried both the black crust and the regular pizza and they were delicious. We were curious about the rice in the bottle so we shared one and it was something out of this world: we had never tried anything like this and we will be back for more! Everything was perfect from start to finish, including wine, dessert and service. Absolutely one of our new favorites!
This restaurant truly amazed me. I visited with my wife for a dinner date to try out this new place in town and we made such a good decision eating here. We are still dreaming about rice bottles, the delicious Sicilia pizza and Rita's tiramisu we shared. All the food was so flavorful and yet delicate, so innovative and yet clearly authentic, and the wine list seemed more than impressive. We tried their own beer, brewed locally, and unsurprisingly it was great. With beautiful, classy interior design and attentive staff, I don't think this place can be beaten. We will surely be back to try their brunch, lunch, and happy hour menus, and we definitely recommend it to anyone who loves their tastebuds.
We noticed plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options so truly anyone can appreciate it.
