Hibachi was 2 minutes. Not entertaining as expected. Previous visits much better experience
We were there with three birthdays and multiple generations. It was so much fun to be out and the chef was great with the little ones. The food is on point, although we did miss the soup and salad with the Hibachi.
Had a large party - very accommodating. Went to the hibachi tables - very fun for the group!
Always a consistently delicious meal at Osaka!

The food was good but failed to acknowledge people with food allergies I’m allergic to peas and never have known japenese food with peas in it. Which was weird I ended up throwing the fried rice away.
The steak was delicious and the white rice light and fluffy, Osaka has a original Japanese flare.
I’m looking to try other Japanese places.
Made reservations as it was a very busy weekend. Our large group was seated promptly. Food was good but came out haphazardly and not in particular orders so a lot of us started and finished at different times. Our waitress was brusque.
Went on a date here with my sweetheart. Sushi is the freshest around, the price alone wouldn’t tell you that though. The sushi could be cut into 8 rather than 6 pieces, it’s not exactly bite-sized at present. Waitstaff can be a bit pushy at times, but it could’ve just been that it was a busy day. All in all, best sushi in western mass.

Food and location are good. I love the outdoor dining option! And the veggie sushi! Service could be better. Our server greeted us by throwing the silverware on our table. When food arrived she just kind of crammed it all on the table in a hurry, didn’t take time to even place the dishes in front of the person who ordered them. And then when we were finished she just dropped the check on our table without asking if we wanted dessert or anything else. I guess since I’m in the restaurant business myself, service matters to me. I know it doesn’t matter to everyone tho. 🤷🏻♀️
Super fresh sushi. We usually get takeout, but dining in is great too.
Made reservations for 7 they were rude and made us wait outside til after 8 to be seated it was cold out really should of just left and went somewhere else
I rarely write reviews of any sort but we had a bad experience here and given all the other options for food in Northampton, I suggest to avoid this place. The service was not just bad but unpleasant and the food was awful. (We didn’t even eat much of our meals and paid and left quickly.)
Forgot starting ginger salad. Paid for and didnt get an extra filet steak. Bounced every veggie off our heads. Not one made it tho he did twice as many tries. Didnt catch anything in pocket or hat. Didnt bother squirting saki into mouths like other tables did. Or sprite (?) for the kids. And the plastic silverware ruins the feeling for me tho I understand why.
Food is freshly prepared, (sushi doesn't fall apart when you pick it up). Great location in downtown Northampton!
I went out to lunch at Osaka with family that I hadn't seen in over a year. Once we were seated we spent a little time chatting before looking at the menus (again we hadn't seen each other since before the pandemic started) and our server was visibly annoyed when they came to take our order and we hadn't decided what to order yet. I ordered a drink quickly as the server stormed off. When they came back with my drink, another person in our party ordered a drink and the server again stormed off without giving the others a chance to order their drinks as well. Once our food came, the server didn't come back to check on us. The only time they came back to our table was to drop off the check and we felt rushed out of there. No offer for a second round of drinks (or even a first round of drinks for the people who didn't get to order one). This is not the first time I've had this experience at Osaka. It's too bad, because I really like the food there and I've been there many times but I'm fed up with the constant rushed and inattentive service and probably will have to find a new local spot for sushi.
We made reservations on line... it was for a birthday lunch and we indicated that. But no one asked if we had a reservation and they did not acknowledge any birthday. The workers were not very friendly, either with seating or serving. They did wear face covering. Soup was served in styrofoam bowls. the table distance was good. Helpings are plentiful
This was our first time here and we will not be going back. Upon arrival it was packed and there was no one to talk too we stood for about 5 minutes just waiting for someone to ask us and then the host appearwad from the back. First of all we had a reservation for hibachi they said they could not do that and sat us in some weird spot we had to climb over things and it was right near the entrance we had no privacy and not to mention it was freezing due to the fact that the door would constantly be opening. The waitresss was so rude, our food was messed up, waitress never checked up on us, food wasn’t even that good, extreme fishy taste to the rice. Overall bad experience, we almost left upon seating. Will not be returning in the future.
Food was outstanding. The entryway was very chaotic: pick up for takeout orders, people waiting to be seated, and the kitchen all funneled in to a very narrow pathway. There wasn’t much ambiance, very simple. Almost run down a little, but not dirty by any means. Again, food was delicious, service was great and prompt.
We love this restaurant and have been coming for years, COVID may be putting a damp on the service from the employees but the food is still damn good, I’m not even upset about feeling like I was rushed outta there.
Worst service I’ve ever had, anywhere! I understand that it was busy and it was Valentine’s Day. We were never asked if we wanted drinks... our menus were just tossed on our table. Our food was dropped on our table, everything felt rushed and we felt unwanted. I’ve always wanted to eat here, and now I never will again.
Service was awful. Was a very busy night however we had a reservation for 630. Ordered our food and drinks all at the same time at 640. Didnt get out drinks for 30 minutes. Got one portion of our food before our drinks were even served. Didnt get our food until 745 which is when I asked for it to go along with the check because we had to leave for another reservation. Completely over priced for the food. We got home, started eating the sushi rolls to find a piece of black curly hair in one of the rolls. Completely disgusted and will never go back.
Wait time for service was too long, in accurate menu, dirty hibachi area, drink service slow. Bland hibachi rice and noodles
High quality sushi with quick service. Recommend highly.
Management not the friendliest. No hand soap in the bathroom. Sushi had 2 crab shell pieces in the crab meat. Told wait staff and they just blew it off.
Service staff was very stressed out and did not know their Sake menu well. Overall ok but a little disappointing.

Excellent restaurant with all sorts of delicious foods. Even if you are not a sushi lover, they have something for everyone.
They definitely way overbooked and then didn't even check reservations. We got a table about 15-20min after our reservation time, but only because we arrived early. This was the worst level of disorganization I've ever seen for a restaurant.
Reservation was not honored. There were 50+ people waiting for tables when I arrived, all packed into the entrance on a freezing night. It didn’t seem to matter that I had a reservation. It was first come first serve. I, like many others, mentioned they had a reservation and if the Maitre D’ paid you any attention it was to tell you he was too busy and had to sit ‘customers’. When I finally got him to listen he just added my name to a huge paper list without verifying if I had a reservation or not. Very disrespectful of Osaka in treating people this way. Worse than cattle, herding everyone together to make as much money as possible and extremely overbooking - and I say this as a vegetarian. I left 1/2 hr after my reservation time, as did many others, but Osaka so overbooked I’m sure they were fine on the night. It was just their customers that suffered.
Our reservations were not held. We arrived and would have had to wait approximately 45 minutes so we left and will probably never be back. And we will never use this app again.
My wife ordered sushi and really enjoyed her meal. Mine, however (filet mignon & lobster tail) was heavily over salted and the lobster was overcooked. The lobster tail was evident but the meat had been removed for me and cut up into small pieces. It was valentine's day and the place was overcrowded. Luckily I made a reservation and arrived early. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt as everyone was so busy and probably overwhelmed but I don't think I'll go back.
It’s OK for a Hibachi place. A family nearby was having a ball at one of the stations. But for sushi, I wouldn’t go back. The place is worn and a little dirty. Seems like they’re coasting... The sushi was fair but a few pieces had a strange sheen to them. One of our party of seven got very ill the afternoon after we ate there. Not blaming the food — could have been anything. But overall I would pass.
I have been to the Osaka in Brookline (and it’s my favorite hibachi place), so I’m happy to say this one is just as delicious. My boyfriend said his steak was amazing too!
The table where they sat us at wasn’t leveled. Wine came in dirty glass. We felt like we were being rushed
