Food was delicious even the kids liked their meals! We had a great experience!
Amazing food and service. Loved the conversation with our waiter! Will be back next time I’m in Chicago
1st time dining here. We came based on a recommendation. Exceeded expectations! EVERYTHING WAS FANTASTIC!
Not all of the pasta are the hand made, some are dried. The octopus was excellent. The fish we ordered was slightly over cooked. Overall it is good food, priced a bit high, especially the non-pasta dishes. It is very loud there and basically you are eating in a store, so the ambiance is not great.
The food was phenomenal! However, it took 15 minutes and me asking someone where our waiter was for us to see someone. They had what seemed like 2 bussers for every table and only 1 waiter for every 5. Definitely need to rethink their staffing. The waiter who ended up serving us wasn’t our designated waiter but he killed it! It’s just frustrating to see so many workers standing around and not getting served.
Very pleasant. Wonderful food. Just what we wanted.
Worst meal in a long time. Rudely greeted by the hostess , waiter was pompous and slow , and to round out a bad experience the food was terrible. And overpriced. And took an hour to come out of the kitchen. Terrible all the way around. Skip this tourist trap and get a real Italian mean in this amazing city of restaurants.
We had a reservation for noon on Sunday, and it was no problem to bump it forward to 11-ish, since we arrived early after checking out of our hotel. Appreciate that!!
The menu options were all really tempting, and we went for a couple of appetizers and then waited to order our pasta dishes. Once again, the octopus was great, and the thinly sliced fennel was the perfect texture.
Pasta was nicely cooked and great flavor.
Jose, our server, was very amiable, knowledgable, and competent.
Wonderful!
While the taste of the food was good, the size of the portions for the price was a bit absurd. My husband ordered a pasta dish for $24 and it was maybe a half cup serving. He had to eat something else when we got home an hour later.
Food and service was great. Would certainly recommend. I’d say appropriate dress would be smart causal.
The food was amazing and the service was incredible. Although it was Valentine's Day and was very crowded it works at this restaurant. We enjoyed shopping afterwards as well!
Poor service. Waiter made us move our own place settings to a new table because the ceiling light was directly in my partners eyes. Food came very fast but didn’t taste cooked or seasoned. I asked for cheese for the pasta and pizza and it never arrived. Water was refilled once and then never again. This was my first experience and I will not be returning. The only redeeming thing was the espresso downstairs.
Amazing Valentine’s Day date spot. Unbelievable gnocchi with shaved truffles. Always get the burata
Excellent dishes which we shared pleased two of us. However, we would enjoy a more conversation friendly space with a couple of other food lovers. We appreciate emphasis on a selection of dishes including some suitable for vegetarians.
It was yummy and service was great!
I was never disappointed with the food here.
It's really a fun place to eat and I love that the food is all available to purchase at the various counters outside the dining area. It's a little loud since it's right in the middle of everything. But we could see a lady making the various pastas/ravioli etc and that was a fun addition to our dining experience.
A very interesting menu. Had great service, generous portions and very knowledgeable staff. A great experience.
It’s so rare to have a simple but good quality pasta as they serve. I just ordered like “very thin pasta with simple ingredients.” The waiter asked me, “which sauce do you prefer, butter, olive, or tomato sauce?” We chose tomato, and turned out the amazing fresh pasta with fresh tomato and basil. You can taste the pasta itself with new texture.
Server was terrible. Did our waiter think we were at Ed Debevic’s (where the waiters were famously rude to customers)? I should have paid attention to the Open Table reviews.
On the other hand, non-waiter staff were very helpful.
small portion of risotto and beef cheek tortellini
We loved the food, the service and the ambiance. This is a favorite of ours every time we come to Chicago!
There were 4 in our party. There was a 3 course menu and an ala carte menu. 3 of us ordered from the 3 course menu and one ordered ala carte. We all loved our food.
There are several restaurants at Eataly and we have eaten at the others. One of the others has gluten free pasta and pizza. You are not able to get any gluten free pasta and pizza at this location which was disappointing to us since it was just across the way and our guest of honor is gluten free. She however did enjoy what she ordered.
Lovely meal and very good service. Great place to stop in for an upscale but semi-casual lunch or dinner. We picked wine from the Enoteca and had it served with our meal which was fun.
My daughter loved the homemade ravioli. Best part was we bought some to take home and make another night.
WORST SERVICE EVER. To start, we had a reservation and our table wasn’t ready, had to wait. Once seated, no one waited on us for 10-15min. Waiter came over and slammed a chalk board of specials on our table without an explanation. We ordered an expensive bottle of wine as we were there for an anniversary. He poured my husband a full glass and me a half of a glass:/
The waiter stopped over so fast, uttered a word and walked away multiple times. All of those times we tried ordering our entree and couldn’t snag him for more than a second to order.
My entree was really good, my husband’s was average. I couldn’t get a refill of water worth the life of me. No one comes around to fill you water. The service and food are not worth the price of this restaurant.
Casual atmosphere. Delicious food.
The food was excellent, service poor. They were short staffed and we paid the price.
Much better Italian in the city! Don’t waist your money. Way overpriced! Won’t be back anytime soon
Everything was good, attentive service, delicious meal, good wine, vibrant atmosphere, very much looking forward to a return visit.
Limited food options and the waiter forgot about us.
Terrible service from the moment we arrived.
Can not compare to the NYC or Toronto locations. Would not recommend this restaurant.
We had a total blast. The "vibe" in Eataly is a ton of fun. This was our second visit and we knew to make reservations, so we were shown right to our table. We ordered food we've never had before and the wait staff could advise us well. Food was excellent, drinks were excellent, and we had one of our most enjoyable nights out in a long time. We shopped after dinner and that was also a really fun experience.
The waitress did not bring three of the items we asked for. I ended up getting up and walking around to find someone else.
Food was good but the service was horrible. Took 15 minutes for a server to come to our table. The servers first words were "what are you eating". Did not take our drink order until after salads were at the table. We ordered a bottle of wine, he put it on the table and did not even open it. 7 minutes later he returned to see the closed bottle of wine and then opened it and never came back to re-fill the glasses. He also took the white bottle of wine and didn't offer an ice bucket to keep it cool. The server never returned to the table to see how the food was or to offer us anything else. One of the worst service experiences I have ever had.
The food was fresh and delicious from the drinks to desert. Our server was very helpful with food selection and service.
We had a party of six they were very kind and service was good. The food was delicious just on the heavy side but overall fantastic. Atmosphere was loud but that’s to be expected as this restaurant is smack in the middle of the whole market. Stand outs were the housemaid pastas. Kids were able to run down to the gelato counter for dessert and that is very handy. Overall fun experience and highly recommended.
too expensive for what you get, but food is really good.
Loved the food!
