the way it's meant to be! with little gems lettuce
free-range chicken marinated in garlic - olive oil - rosemary - roasted cipollini - cherry peppers sauted with white wine sauce
Fantastic food , wine list, and our server Maria from Sicily made our experience a true treat and so special.
We highly recommend this restaurant and plan on making it our new favorite.
Thank you so much Osteria Panevino!
I go to this place whenever I’m in SD, (found it in 2019, I’ve been 3 times) I lived in Italy for some time and I can tell authenticity when I taste it! This place has the best veal risotto dish in California, we also entertained some appetizers and the buffalo caprese was a perfect pre dinner app
Decent wine list, martinis are great.
Afogato is always a must, limoncello cake was delicious
Please go here and support a local business during these hard times!
Great service and food. We sat outside, tables were set in the street. It was nice just wish they would have closed the sidewalk down, a lot of foot traffic walking near us.
Anniversary. Food, service & ambiance was great!
Always such great food and a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our server and the service in general was pleasant. Food was tasty and pretty. Some of the tables were too close together (like prior to Covid proximity) which made us and the other customers uncomfortable (we were thankful they wore their masks except when eating and drinking). Cute place...we enjoyed our 1st experience. Expect to spend $100+ per person with drinks. Would go back.
Everything was good. We liked the meals and the service was great too!
This restaurant was great. The appetizer of burrata was the best I ever had, so much flavor, wish the portion was bigger (could easily eat the whole thing myself, shared by two). Pasta linguine with clams was delicious and decent size portion. Coming from the east coast, the pizza was lacking and reminded me of cafeteria food in comparison. The service was high quality and our busboy had a good sense of humor. Ambience was decent with good job accommodating due to covid precautions, sat outside and comfortable. Thanks.
Lively atmosphere, wonderful service and delicious food! Recommended.
Wonderful food, wonderful service! This is our favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego. The food is always fresh and flavorful. The service is impeccable and always a delight. If you haven’t tried the food here, give it a try!
Great food and even better service!
Wonderful service and atmosphere
It was disappointing frankly. Given the positive reviews we expected better. The food was nothing special. Caesar salad was ok though the croutons were delicious as was the hot fresh bread. Husband had chicken parmigiana with spaghetti. It was ok . I had breaded pork cutlet in bed of arugula with lemon vinaigrette. It was very dry and really needed more of the vinaigrette. The edges were almost inedible. They also were out of the dessert I wanted (creme brûlée) which given we were eating at 630 seemed inefficient especially since we weren’t informed when given the menus. However the vanilla gelato was delicious though don’t remember if it was homemade. The service could have been better. It was a Friday night and although it wasn’t initially crowded it became so later. We never received refills on our drinks for example. It also wound up being crazy expensive for what it was. Especially since they add a 3+% to the menu prices to make up for minimum wage increase costs. But we experienced that elsewhere so it is probably the price of eating out especially what with Covid expenses. With all the other restaurants in the area we don’t intend to return.
Staff was very friendly and attentive! Food was delicious and timely. They helped us celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday with a decadent piece of lemon cake accompanied by Limoncello. We will definitely be going back!
Great food. Portions too big. Not enough space between tables.
Everyone makes you feel so welcomed and the food makes you feel like you’re dinning in Italy!! You couldn’t ask for anything better for the price, service, and taste !
Excellent service, food, wine. Great location. Pasta servings are large, easily can split between two people.
Great food The service was very good. I was in San Diego for the weekend and found this restaurant on line.
Make sure you have a reservation
given that its covid times, it was disheartening to see so many people crammed together so closely. I could reach my arm out and touch the person at the next table over and the waiters had to squeeze by the tables. What happened to six feet distancing? Food was slightly overpriced and bland. Was uncomfortable for the majority of dinner given the proximity
The food was excellent and was the best Italian we have had in San Diego
This place was a really fuster-cluck. Super loud, crazy, unorganized. We had reservations but had to wait 40 minutes for an acceptable table that wasn't a foot away from the busy walkway where all foot traffic was being funneled into. Bread was stale, tough; we didn't eat it. Server was so overwhelmed (poor guy) that he was just running past us, then throwing the plates of food at us and running off. I won't blame it on our tilted table, but my own clumsiness: my wine glass ended up smashing to the floor. Server didn't care. We told him again, but he just said "OK" and ran off. Everybody ignored that broken glass, yet other servers and busboys were literally stepping and crunching on broken glass. I know they are overwhelmed, but I'm not choosing to drop almost $200 with my wife and put myself in that situation again. Was loud, unsettling, disorganized; in short, not a pleasant experience. Food (main entrees) were good; be aware that everything is very al dente here (I'm not lowering stars for this as it's personal preference and I know from traveling to Italy that most authentic Italian pasta is al dente like this was. We are not going back any time soon. Too many other great places in nearby vicinity which are better organized.
The food was great. Due to Covid all restaurants served outside on streets. Streets were blocked off. Perfect food experience for our first meal in San Diego.
Love this place. If you can't make it to Italy, this is the next best thing.
Perfect meal - exactly what we were looking for - exceptional service and dinner
Delicious, authentic Italian food in an unimposing, comfortable atmosphere.
Superb food and attentive service. Loved it
The food and service were both outstanding! Thank you!
Horribly rude and unprofessional hostess - never even sat down. Literally chases people out of the establishment because she was tired and probably wanted to go home. She should be fired immediately for the way she acted.
Met Big Ed from 90 Day fiancé! Food was also great!
The hostess was fabulous and interjected into our family fun as we sat just by her hosting desk. She made our night!
Our food was fabulous! Better than we were expecting! Only thing we forgot was our to go box!!!
Food and service were exceptional. Our server was very attentive and made us feel very welcome. We will return when it is safe to dine out again.
Our server, Maria, was amazing. The food was delicious and obviously made with love. We will be back when in town again.
I had a great time. Food was delicious 😋 and the waiter gave an excellent service. Thank you guys
Great food! Great wait staff and a desert surprise at the end. No surprise it's been our favorite restaurant for over 10 years.
Waiter was amazing & food to die for . Coming back for sure , girlfriend loved it !
Outstanding food, generous portions, fantastic rissoto and tuna was Outvof this world. Best service we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend!
Amazing food and really cute place. 2 thumbs up!
So I have to be honest, our waiter GIUSEPPE was outstanding. He was very attentive to our needs, very friendly and never rushed us at all. His recommendations were spot on for what we ordered. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. I would highly recommend Osteria Panevino and Giuesppe
Great value for the time we had.
PS- TRY THE LIMONCE LIMONCELLO .
This is an Italian food gem outside of Little Italy. it is small and usually crowded, but that says something for how good it is. The servers are Italian for the most part and that adds to the genuine ambience. The regular menu is overshadowed only by the specials, making your dinner choice that much more difficult. We have been there twice - the meat, chicken, and seafood selections are all amazing. My wife and I had salads (real whole anchovies on my Cesar). This night, I had the special which was the seafood pasta which included lobster, mussels, calamari, clams, and salmon in a spicy marinara, on top of all dente pasta. The plate was enormous and easily could have been split between 2 persons. My wife had the herbed roasted chicken on a bed of pasta and spinach (they were kind enough to trade out the listed mashed potatoes for pasta in garlic, herb and oil. Dessert was a shared dish of vanilla gelato. I'd go back again when we visit San Diego.
