Out Of the Blue

We had to sit in the back corner by the wall and propt up chairs. Cold air was coming in from the window. There wasn't enough lighting to see the menus. We had to pull our table out from the wall twice, to try and see and to try to get away from the draft. The waitress was very kind, and the food was good. We spent over a couple hundred dollars, hope next time is much better.

Staff was amazing and nice. Very friendly group of people.

I always enjoys the food here, and the service is very good. I recommend this place to anyone who wishes to enjoy great seafood at a reasonable price. I have never had any issues with he staff or service, and the food is always fast and hot. If you do choose to eat re be sure to enjoy the crab dip, it is very good.

This is the third time I've been here, it's amazing. The service is always great and the food is amazing. You have to try the fried gulf shrimp!

I had filet mignon with scallops and shrimp; My wife had stuffed flounder - All excellent! The cole slaw was remarkably bland and roasted brussels sprouts cool enough that the parmesan cheese garnish did not melt. Ambiance was what you might expect in a seaside crab shack - tables covered by kraft paper with metal chairs. Would recommend it with comment to limit expectations regarding atmosphere. Again the entrees were excellent.

First time eating there and we were pleasantly surprised. We will be back !

Food was mostly excellent - the soft shelled crab was amazing. The crab dip - wow! Need two size options.
Lindsay was one of the best servers I have had eating out since Covid began. My only issue was the steamed shrimp - a bit tough as they were steamed too long.
But overall a great thanksgiving day. Good enough to return on a Friday for the BOGO 12 blue crabs -24 total.

Reminds me of a red lobster. Pretty basic. My husband got the surf and turf and it was ok. Nothing fancy but cooked fine. I will go back for the all you can eat crabs.

Food was good and portions generous. Found service ok; nothing special. Worst is their dining rooms need some textiles to absorb sound. All those hard surfaces a d high ceilings made it too noisy to enjoy our meal.

I love the crabs here! On this day the the crabs was a bit small but good! May I mention this is the first time my crabs were a bit small.

One of my favorite restaurants since we moved to Virginia about a year ago. Food is superb, good service--even under the present circumstances--and except for it being a bit noisy in peak times, a great dining experience.

The food and service overall was good. The space felt a little cramped. We traveled from Oxon Hill. I don’t feel it is worth the drive, but for locals, it is a good option.

The food was was good. Just not a lot of it. We actually left hungry... even after sharing a dessert (which was also very small - we should have ordered two). It was also very expensive for what we had.

It was amazing this time, I'm happy I gave it a second chance. The fried shrimp are amazing, and I highly recommend the Crab Trap, it gives you a little bit of everything. If you can try to get seated in the bar area the atmosphere is better and the service there seems better.

I was expecting more, but wasn’t impressed at all.

It was ok, we went on a Saturday night, we ordered sandwiches. The waitress didn't seem too thrilled that was all we ordered, this was my first time here and I heard it was good, but it was underwhelming.

Seafood tends to be a bit more costly, but Out of the Blue prepared our meal with great expertise. The scallop appetizer, crab dip, fish tacos and grilled salmon were mouth watering and awesome! We opted for outside and the service was great. Thanks Amanda! We would recommend highly!

Had to wait to long even after I had an existing online reservation

Was our first time visiting the restaurant so no expectations leading in to what became a very enjoyable dining experience.

Seldom ever have deep fried oysters but these were so good I almost ordered them again as my main course.

Most of the tables around us were enjoying Chesapeake Bay Crabs but I wasn't up for working that hard but they looked really good.

Excellent food and great service. The only thing I think they need to do is update the chairs. They are not comfortable. Other than that a great place for seafood.

Food is good at a good price and service too

Have been to this place many times but this trip was a bit disappointing. Both of us ordered the surf and turf. Came with a small steak and 2 shrimp and 2 scallops for &38 each. Doubt we will stop there any more with those portions. We can go back to blue ridge seafood. Not as nice of a place but at least we won’t leave hungry

We have friends meet us and it was their first time and she said all was great except the crab cake which was bland. Her husband's steak was med rare more on rare side which was not his liking but he ate it anyways fir he was hungry.

Out of the Blue is our weekly go-to... we LOVE the food. The crabs are fantastic! If you like ahi tuna, their app is to die for! The peel and eats are my go too and my husband loves the crab BLT. Delicious!!! Everything is so yummy!!!

Celebrated a birthday and ate outside on the patio. Turned out great.

crab cakes were disappointing crab legs were good but not enough of them slaw was mediocre Service -- Tiffany -- was great

Loved it absolutely amazing. The food no complaints had a very nice spread at the table. Came to the table sooner than you know it after ordered. I will be back sooner than later. Worth the drive if you have to take 1 for good SEAFOOD. 🙃

Good place to eat seafood.

My husband is picky when it comes to seafood. He got a dozen of xlarge crabs and he was very pleased. Waitress was great. Dinner was worth our trip.

"Out of the Blue" never disappoints! We had the "all you can eat" Blue Crabs. Fast service, the waitress kept our glasses topped off throughout our stay! Highly recommend.

They were not pleasant when we arrived for our reservations. We were told that they do not pay attention to Open Table reservations which made no sense to me. I told them they shouldn’t offer the service if they’re not going to except reservations. They intern said we should’ve called directly to make a reservation so I wouldn’t trust this app for reservations at this restaurant.

First, I made reservations. Upon arrival, I was asked if I made reservations online and was immediately told that they don't even look at those. We ate outside, which meant annoying flies. We literally had to ask for every little thing we got, including clean appetizer plates, eating utensils, drink refills, napkins, and wet wipes to clean our hands after our blue crabs. The music playing outside was too loud. Not sure what the deal was considering I've never experienced less than excellent service before. Had this been my first experience here, I would NOT recommend this place to my friends.

The quality of the food was good. First time there. Staff was attentive even with only a few tables to serve. They were present and respectful.
It’s a cross between Tim’s river shore and Red Lobster. Two of us shared an appetizer salad, entree, and hush puppies. I thought it was pricey at $55 for the decor inside. I get that metal chairs are easier to clean but I thought them to be uncomfortable to sit on.

Great food! The crab legs were good and love the shrimp as well.
