Overlook Restaurant & Lounge
Arrived at Overlook at the reservation time to only find it was closed. There was a sign in front of the restaurant directing us to the hotel bar for food service. If we wanted to eat at the bar we would have went there first. We then went to find another restaurant to eat at in town but were unable to make a reservation thru Open Table since my “reservation” could only be cancelled by Overlook which was closed. Bottomline, don’t take a reservation if you’re going to be closed.
Good hotel atmosphere. Clean and tidy. Food was good and tasty. Great place if you don’t want to venture out or a late night dinner.
We booked a table for New Year’s Eve. The restaurant was mostly empty. The hostess did not know where the menus were. Our server was cordial, but neither he nor the menus stated that an entree salad that we ordered was going to come out quite spicy. One of the members of our party could barely eat it.
The food was horrible and so was the service, it was our Christmas dinner so I was very disappointed. My husbands food was cold and they didn’t even offer to reheat it they just took off the bill
Typical hotel food and felt like we where in a chain restaurant.
Enjoyed spending our Christmas there! We stayed at another location, but had dinner there.
We were one table of three in the otherwise empty restaurant. The food was good, but not exceptional. We honestly went there because they were one of only a few with availability on Christmas Eve. Nothing remarkable in a city with amazing food experiences.
The food presentation was very nice and the food was good, but the room was just a ballroom with no decoration and no windows. The people were extremely nice. It served the purpose. Don't know if I would do it again. The title is misleading, by the way, it was not in the Overlook Restaurant at all.
A wonderful Thanksgiving buffet. Great staff with a wonderful selection of everything from A-to-Z.
Thanksgiving Buffet advertised at the restaurant, with its scenic views, but was held in reality in the hotel's large, windowless ballroom. Buffet was generous and varied. Service helpful and professional, but disappointed that it advertised one location but delivered another.
Thanksgiving it was ok
Thanksgiving buffet is outstanding! I have been going for the past eight years. I highly recommend it!
Worst holiday dining experience to date. Instead of the restaurant, we were seated in a banquet room. Very limited drink menu options and subpar service overall.
Very enjoyable Thanksgiving buffet. Manager met us at door to escort us to table. very courteous and friendly wait staff. Food was excellent and they had a large variety. Have eaten Thanksgiving here the last 3 years and will be back. Overall an outstanding experience.
Sit outside, the view is beautiful! Best meal for the best value on our trip in Asheville!
Great Mother’s Day dining and the meals were delish!
I reserved for Valentine's evening. We were the ONLY people in the whole place 6:30 PM, except for Bill the waiter, he was great. Ordered a steak medium, light pink, came out rare. At the end of our dinner, a couple walked in to dine. Wife was not impressed!
Breakfast is mediocre, and you are corralled into the buffet, menu is a la carte
The restaurant was pretty but the food was disappointing. Would not recommend this place. There are much better places to eat in Asheville.
We chose this restaurant for our family Thanksgiving gathering. Our reservation was for 3:00 and we stood online for 45 minutes with everyone else who had a reservation regardless of time; there was no attempt made to honor reservation times. Cost for the meal was over $200 for a party of 4 ( with tip and tax automatically added). The food was good, but vegan options were severely limited (we would not have chosen this location if the menu were pre-published). The wait staff was excellent and did provide soy milk for coffee when requested.
Very unorganized. Thanksgiving Buffet reservations, 2 people, 3pm. Got there at 2:45 and faced an initial line of 40 minutes. Finally paid and were sent to wait in a long narrow room lined with chairs. Waited there for another 15 minutes (even though we were the only 2 people in the room). Finally got seated at 3:45 to find that they were winding down service.
The food itself was quite good, but we did feel rushed as there were not many people left that were eating.
No ambiance whatsoever. I felt like I was in a mess hall or gate cafeteria.
We enjoyed thanksgiving buffet here! The food was good.
The food was excellent. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the service. Our server didn’t return to clear the dirty dishes and never brought the basic water. I understand that they were busy but we had to go get someone to help us several times.
We went to eat here for Thanksgiving. The food was very good, but we were disappointed that we had to wait an hour even with a reservation. We had a tiny table in a corner with no tablecloth like the others. We ate in a huge ballroom, not a restaurant. We will not come back for Thanksgiving.
Average Thanksgiving beffet. Definitely for the masses. Food was OK.
We had to wait in line for our 2:15 reservations food was poorly displayed cold food was warm hot food was cold I will never go back again
We arrived about an hour before our reservation. The line was very long but they got us in right on time. If we had not been early we would not have made our reservation time. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. We may do it again next Thanksgiving
Delicious food and good service. Beautiful hotel
Called to ask if their was a view of mountains and were told there was a Mountain View. The patio overlooks a grassy field and the ropes course.
Hostess and wait staff had no idea what open table was.
When seated we waited 15 minutes to place our order.
When one entree came out there was a creamy sauce that was not listed on the menu - the server said she honestly did not know what it was. She came back and said the chef said it was pesto when it very clearly was chicken covered in spinach artichoke dip - which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu.
Had to go inside to to find server for the check.
Overall the food was decent but service was poor and there was definitely not any type of view.
It was raining so we couldn't sit outside.
The restaurant was empty so even though I mentioned I had a reservation, she didn't ask the name- so I'm not sure if we were ever checked in.
The service wasn't bad, but it was a little... awkward... We were asked if we were ready to order (dinner) before we had even been greeted or asked what we wanted to drink... but all in all everything went better after that.
Food was good but their Sirloin was not what I was expecting, and they forgot to put the sauce on the side as requested, but luckily it was great.
Medium priced restaurant. Not bad for a hotel restaurant.
