The Langham Sydney
Our High Tea was a wonderful way to celebrate. The food and tea was superb. The service and environment was exceptional. Well done to a great team
food is not supervising, ............................
- We originally had an 11 am reservation for 3 guests, when requesting to change the reservation to 2 guests, we couldn't keep our 11 am, so we had to accept a 1 pm reservation for 2 guests.
- On the day, we were seated, given a glass of water each and then neglected.
- We had to initiate to the waitress that we wanted to order our high tea.
- We changed the alcoholic beverage to a mocktail (The waitress did not give us an option of which mocktail or a beverage menu). ++ The price remained the same, alcoholic drink or not.
- The mocktail came out, again we had to initiate to the waitress, asking her what was in our mocktail.
- Our hot beverage order was not taken until we initiated it to the waitress.
- We were first to be seated within the restaurant but last to receive our food (Which came 50 minutes AFTER we were seated).
- When the waitress dropped off our high tea stand, she did not run through the items individually on each tier (As they do at our venues which serve high tea).
- Food was cold and below average for a High Tea from a 5-star luxury hotel within Sydney.
- Our English Breakfast tea and Green tea was served 20 minutes after receiving our high tea stand (Which was 90 minutes after we were seated, not sure why it took so long, no apologizes were given or an acknowledgement in a service delay).
- We had to initiate to the waitress to top up our water glass.
- No one came to our table to check on how the food was or if we needed anything else.
- No one came to top up our hot water for our teas.
- We tasted everything on the stand but our plates were full of leftover food as the food quality and taste was poor and below average.
- There were only 6 tables in total so the venue was quiet so the waitresses had more than enough time to be attentive and serve each table accordingly.
$218 experience which is a hefty high tea experience (in comparison to surrounding 5-star hotels in Sydney), disappointing and won't be back nor would I recommend.
Special high tea for mother and daughter
They need to change menu for the price. Need to allow customer to have a few choices of beverages.
Wonderful high tea at The Langham Hotel. They catered for my needs being pregnant which was a bonus. Plenty of delicious food for the price.
Lovely venue and delicious scones! The pimms cocktail was worth the extra. Staff were outstanding and overall experience was good. Slightly over priced but a nice treat for anyone.
Overall it was a great experience, however I felt that it was a touch overpriced.
Food was great, although the prawn roll lacked some flavour.
Service was fantastic
Wonderful service from booking through to leaving.
Had a lovely time at the Langham Sydney. The food was on point, the staff were very friendly and they all carefully observed social distancing while wearing masks and gloves to attend to us. Great ambiance I must say......!!!
Delicious high tea! So much variety and dietaries were catered for.
First class experience. We will be back for our next special occassion.
Great place to catch up with friends and enjoy some great food.
Disappointed at the service, very slow and not attentive. Weren’t greeted at door, waited for 10 mins to be greeted and seated. Asked to be moved to a table near the window and were told it was reserved however no one sat there the entire time we were there (2 hrs), another table near the window also came up and we weren’t asked if we wanted to move there instead. They called me that evening to ask if I had settled my bill! What is going on? $110 pp for high tea (for sure the most expensive in the city) service did not stack up. I came here two years ago and it was fantastic. They have also rearranged the dining room and it looks very bland and hotelish now. I have to say the food was fabulous though but still very pricey compared to other high tea
options in Sydney
Unfortunately was not a great experience, service was poor. Greeting was lack lustre, introduction of the menu was rushed and ineffective in providing guests an overview of the menu. Due to staff shortage, service staff were inattentive and the wait for beverages was long.
I was very excited about my High Tea at The Langham. I booked it for my 30th birthday. Upon arrival I was disappointed with my view, I was looking out onto the construction works. I wanted it to be special and straight away I think it lost its charm. I ordered the chocolate afternoon tea, as a vegetarian. My scones arrived without cream, when I asked though this was very quickly rectified. I was slightly disappointed with the vegetarian sandwiches. One sandwich just had a sliced tomato in it. I cannot fault the cakes & scones, all very delicious. I was happy with the tea, but I was not offered more hot water when the pot ran out. Sadly, I don’t think the afternoon tea was worth the price.
Food was very very nice, and very accommodating to vegetarian requests. Plenty of options on the delicious tea menu too. The seating is great.
Only big negative was that guests are not allowed to take leftovers home. As the servings are very generous this creates a lot of food waste, which is something I'd like to avoid as much as possible.
Loved it.......so welcoming and tasty food. Would really recommend it .
My fav place to go for a romantic treat or a classy high tea experience with the girls
Food was absolutely delicious and worth the price. The staff were tentative and the dry ice + birthday plate was a nice touch for our birthday celebration. Thank you!
The food was good, loved the dessert bar. Service was poor, took too long to have tea order taken then an even longer time for food & tea to arrive. I also disliked the waitress outlining the high tea options based on price - asking us which price point we wanted , not which the name - very tacky and could be done in a far more polished way. Not up to the standard I expect at The Langham. We are regulars to their High Tea’s - always go to the special Easter & Christmas ones, this was a bit disappointing. Also don’t think the seating area is as nice & welcoming as it used to be. It’s now very much like any other restaurant- not special which is a real shame.
Lovely afternoon. Food was tasty and fresh. Very happy.
We had to pass the cereal on our way in, brought the ambience down a lot!
The food was very basic, flavors not balanced well, stale bread. Very large group has just finished as we arrived, all tables had food and scrapes everywhere. The floor was filthy. Beautiful building and on a good day it may have been a better experience. Better value for money elsewhere would recommend trying somewhere else.
Lovely looking hotel but unfortunately not great food - stale bread for sandwiches, lacked flavour in the savouries and disappointing sweets. Scones were ok but never seen them cooked in a muffin tin before! On the plus side lovely champagne but with four of us eating it would have worked out cheaper to have no alcoholic drink with our tea and paid for a bottle separately. Paying $30 more than the average high tea in Sydney I'm sorry to say it wasn't worth it.
Having visited The Langham before for high tea, this time we were disappointed. We hated having to go up to get our desserts from the same bar as the lunch buffet people. Too many kids digging into the food, was off putting. We would prefer to just have the tradition high tea stand on the table.
THe Langham is a lovely hotel, always calm and classic. Found that the high tea while pleasant was not outstanding, and in fact some of the food items felt a little ‘tired’. There were a couple of outstanding items - the macaron (raspberry) was delicious, and the small quiche tasty. Did not try the scones, they were large and looked more like muffins than delicate English scones. It is Christmas time and so the piped music was more of the usual suspects we are all subject to at this time of the year! Service was good and attentive, although we were a little surprised to be told that we were ‘allowed to have one tea and one coffee’ as part of the package we had chosen...seemed a little churlish for the $70 price tag.
We started our Honeymoon with High Tea at the Langham Sydney and it was amazing! The food the service and the overall experience was great! Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Some of the savoury food was cold despite eating it first. And the scones were a tad dry other than that it was an amazing experience and the Iced teas were amazing! The noise was loud from lunch but by 4 it was fine
Very disappointing, not 5 star venue. Cleaning cart in middle of room, carpet vacuumed as we sat at table, incredibly poor! Would not return,.
service was a great experience, we enjoyed the food and tea! was a great way to celebrate our friends 21st birthday
Second time there- had changed but enjoyed dessert buffet where you picked what you wanted. High standard of food and service. My guest enjoyed herself. Lovely afternoon there.
The service was amazing the F&B attendants did a fantastic job. However, the food was a terribly disappointment. The bread was stale and all the desserts did not taste fresh. Taste as though it was prepared days before serving. The only good food was the crepe bar. If the service wasn’t as good as it was I wouldn’t have left as happy as I did. Disappointed considering how nice I heard the high tea was. At the very least the restaurant is very aesthetic.
Delightful atmosphere to celebrate a special birthday. Exceptional service and delicious food - extensive selection of beautifully presented items on High Tea stand and Dessert Buffett. Easy to chat and hear each other as no noise - so perfect place to meet family and friends.
We had a great experience at the Langham High Tea, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a relaxed and luxurious afternoon setting in the heart of Sydney. Pros include the excellent customer service and attention to detail, beautiful decor, broad variety of food available, and the attentiveness of the Langham staff. Cons include a minor mishap regarding a food allergy however this was rectified with an additional glass of sparkling wine per person free of charge, and the strict time slot for arrival and departure when considering the price per head for the high tea. We felt slightly rushed towards the end and were asked to leave with a 20 minute notice. The scones and macaroons were absolutely delicious and of an extremely high quality. All other food options were of good to high quality. Unfortunately the white bread used for the cut sandwiches was slightly stale however it didn’t negatively impact our experience. All things considered, I would encourage others to book a high tea at the Langham and I hope to visit again soon.
Exceptional food. Attentive service. Good price. Excellent alternative offered if unable to eat seafood.
Good service. The high tea catering space is shared with the hotel's buffet lunch, so if you go before 3pm you get to enjoy the delicious joint dessert buffet. However because of this, the area becomes a little busy - not as relaxing for a high tea. Savoury options are average as well.
Amazing experience and one that really signified such a special occasion. The care of the staff, particularly I believe her name was Mina and the Chef/Management was exceptional. My niece has severe and life threatening allergies and I'm very grateful not only for their care, but making her feel so included and special.
A very nice afternoon tea. Could choose both hot Tea and Iced Tea. The scones, sandwiches and sweets were Delicious. A little to noisy, would prefer a cozier environment for afternoon Tea.
I was very disappointed ☹️ I have been going for high tea there over the last couple of years and you have changed everything this time it felt very bland and catered for tourist. Your room was so underwhelming do not know why you changed the decor or the way you do High Tea but I and I will tell my friends not to come there anymore
