Pig ’N’ Whistle - King George Square
Service was poor. Staff were disinterested. Food was horrible and not well presented. We won’t be back.
A great venue, very relaxed atmosphere. Very few vegetarian options unfortunately but overall a good experience.
What a lovely night we had. Nice and quiet to catch up with a close friend. The food was so yummy. Plenty of space with no crowding and our choice of table. The bar keeper made the drinks perfectly. Thanks.
We had to gather our finished meals, and put them aside, no one collected them
Very unfriendly staff, especially indian lass
Food adequate for pub style
Great spot for a casual meal out with the family. Exceptionally friendly staff and great service.
Dinner was a disaster from start to finish. Seven guests, orders were incorrect and inconsistent with two guests being served first off, then another persons meal arriving approx 20 minutes later and then another two guests meals arriving around 20 mins after that, final two guests waited a hour and a half and despite reminders to staff, last two meals did not materialise. It got to 9 pm when we pulled the plug and had to leave as the baby and Toddler In our party were exhausted, all guests ate separately and two of the party had nothing at all and had to have money refunded for their meal. Staff seemed not to care and when chasing up missing meals, was abruptly told they were on their way, without that member of staff even checking. After waiting a further 30 minutes with still no sign of a meal, we decided enough was enough. When asking who Duty. Manager was, their seemed confusion amongst the staff as to who this was. A celebratory dinner for our family was a disaster. Staff were thin on the ground and we doubt whoever was in the kitchen was a chef or could even cook, even the garlic bread was awful.
All in all, terrible service, food quite expensive but very poor quality and poorly cooked. Needless to say we will avoid Dining here ever again and would not recommend to anyone. Save your money in these hard times and stay at home and cook yourself cheaper and more enjoyable food
It was great to be able to get out and have lunch. II booked but it was very quiet so we had choice of wherever we wanted to sit. Covidsafe ID capture was easy. Food came out quickly and empty plates at the end indicates the food was good. My curry was very good and the parmas my friends had were good as well. Staff were really nice as usual.
The Guiness Pie was huge and very nice. I could barely finish it.
Overall was nice night. Table talk was to a minimum due to load ness of Music, but upon request the musician turned it down.
The waitress serving us had really poor manners. She made a few mistakes and didn't even apologise.
The meals took a long time .. probably 40 mins.. and the only 4 of the 5 meals were delivered with no comment as to how far away the remaining meal was..I waited about ten minutes before having to broach a staff member and ask them how long it will take and I received the "they are just serving it now" comment. It was grilled chicken burger. No way should it have taken that long to come out. The food was mediocre and the place was about 1/5 full. So no real reason for sucha huge delay.
Although we arrived early, it took quite a long time for the orders to arrive. It would be great if you could improve the speed in the future. My colleagues are all satisfied with the quality of the dishes, otherwise.
Food ordered was incorrect and staff tried to make us eat what was put before us when the order was incorrect when taken. Then eventually came out after an hour and everyone else had long since eaten. No discount or any kind of apology was made, on the contrary the waitress made the the guest feel like she was a total inconvenience just because she didn’t eat what was put in front of her.. Not at all happy... we also
Ordered two steaks, one was medium to well done and the other medium but both came out completely rare and virtually raw!!! I know it’s busy but this is not acceptable when charging such high prices for food.
Very rude staff. I have written a detailed google review. One table sent food back 3 times because it was cold.
Date night for my partner and I ended up at the Pig N Whistle for dinner. We had a voucher to use and were pleased with the service. The food was impeccable, and the atmosphere of a live performance by a young man with a guitar really set the tone for a wonderful, much needed night out for us. Definitely coming back.
A much better experience. Good food, great service.
Overpriced, under quality, not value for money at all.
Fabulous evening. Catch up with friends to celebrate several birthdays. Everyone had a good meal and drinks and overall a fun evening.
I met some friends here for breakfast. The food was good & was served very quickly. There weren't many other diners so noise was not an issue & there were enough staff. I have to eat gluten free food.
The menu had no hints as to what was gluten free so I asked the server if the omelette was (everything listed appeared to be GF so it should have been). She told me no it wasn't due to the cheese. This was very puzzling as cheese is normally GF so I asked her to check with the chef. I know I am not alone in requiring GF food & in this day & age I would expect better knowledge from the servers & more information on the menu. Most restaurants & cafe's can cater well for GF breakfast as usually substituting the toast for GF toast (or omitting it altogether) is all that is required.
We would not return to this restaurant again. My husbands dinner came out with a very odd smell, along with two large prawn heads (only 1 tail) and not much else. We sent it back but by the time his was redone I had finished my meal. The service from the bar was very slow also. Will definately not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Very slow for food to arrive.2 of the meals were cold and had to send back.
Had to get drinks from bar due to lack of staff.
It appeared management had not taken into account that a show was on at city hall.
This rating should not affect the staff who were overworked.
We found the noise level with a solo singer quite loud that we couldn't hear each other across the table but they did turn this down once we asked them to. We also ordered food which took nearly an hour to deliver and were asked if we were all finished and happy with our meals before we were even served them. Our meals came out at different times and after people who had ordered after us. We had to cancel one meal as others at the table were nearly finished before there was any sight of our last meal for the table. The food was very expensive for what it was - $30 for 2 small pieces of chicken with a few vegies - value for money was not really what you were paying for - more the location which was convenient for us.
Great live music and awesome staff
Xmas Eve family dinner
The service was terrible . Waiting over 45mins just to receive the food is not acceptable. When we got there , there was not many people so not sure why it took that long. You need to have quicker service during the lunch time period.
Booked table for 6 for 5pm but our order took nearly 1 hour for main. Other tables who ordered way after got their food. Clearly forgot about us. Left us 10mins to throw our food down. Food was beautiful but 10min to eat a $42 steak is a disgrace. No discount or sincere apology.
Waited 40 mins for meals. Others dining with us had to be refunded their meals as they hadn’t arrived by 6pm & we had an event to go to at City Hall.
Enjoyed dinner with friends on a Friday evening, staff were great.
The experience was good, I think for lunch meals (& snacks) the price was way to expensive
Our meals were over cooked the salad was old and brown ,one of the kids meals were not ordered at all do asked for a spare plate that our 3 year old son could share our chips 15 min later they brought out a full plate of chips that cost 9 dollars,we will never go there again
Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. It is a nice and central meeting spot.
Waited 30 mins for drinks and 50 mins for over priced and cold undercooked calamari and nachos which had hardly any toppings on it. Was there for my daughters school ball and sadly soured by a poor dining experience
Always a very reliable location for lunch or dinner. Food is really good, and the outdoor dining vibe on King George Square is always enjoyable.
Dry, tasteless, expensive pre-cooked food. One waitress was friendly and great the other was rude, somber and awful. I think even the burger was pre-cooked it was that bad.
Nice little location, service was average but the food came out quickly once ordered.
we all ordered the big breakfast because of the bubble & squeak that was on it. Very disappointed as it was only tiny frozen patty like a hash brown and was soggy. Lots of bacon, but unfortunately it was swimming in fat. yuk. A very average meal for the $21.00 pricetag.
We had a poor experience with our meal orders which had errors in the main meals.
It was a very busy night with a Rugby Wallabies vs Ireland match on. I would like to commend the staff on how friendly and helpful they were in such an environment. I really appreciated the guidance and communication on when best to take our orders and keeping things rolling so we made the game on time. Service was great. Thank you!!!
Cold food that took forever to arrive. Not enough staff per clientele. Food was rubbish.
Really loved my chilli beef nachos however my husband's chicken salad was quite bland. Staff very accommodating; turned on heater as soon as we arrived. A little expensive on food and drinks.
