Pittsburgh Blue - Rochester
It was great to visit this great restaurant in person again. The steaks were amazing and the buffalo brussel sprouts appetizer was delicious.
Food was fantastic. Service by shyler was professional yet friendly. Sea bass and filet are fantastic but the pork belly appetizer is a must have item. Trust me on this!
This is a hard review to write because it’s so mixed. First off they knew we had a birthday in our party as it was attached to the reservation. The hostess said “oh I see we have a birthday tonight” before she sat us, but then no one even brought it up or mentioned it again the rest of the night. Why even ask the occasion on the reservation? Missed opportunity on their end for sure. We were handed menus and asked if we had been there before (we had not), and that was it. No explanation, nothing. Came back finally to take our order and of course we had some questions, there are several types of filets, and ribeyes, but no descriptions on the menu. We had to ask size etc. food came out super fast, almost too fast. If you wanted to enjoy an app or cocktail you’d feel rushed for sure. We weren’t given steak knives so we had to wait to ask until we could ask for those. With all the so-so service we encountered I feel like the food was definitely overpriced. Good, but not worth the experience. Tried once, won’t go back unfortunately.
Great service. A bit spendy but the steaks were butter knife. Everything was so delicious! Excellent overall experience on the last night of dining in this year. Going back when things get better
My husband and I went for our anniversary we had a wonderful evening. The food was amazing.
Outstanding as usual.
Everyone should try Pittsburg Blue . You will be so satisfied you will want to go back as soon as you can! I know we can’t wait to go back for another wonderful meal!! It was top notch from beginning to end!!
The food was delicious, service wonderful. Very nice environment. We had an enjoyable evening. The desert was amazing chocolate brownie cake 👍
Great food. Temp of restaurant was very cold. Server was attentive.
Celebrating two birthdays!
Crab was cold and not very good. Especially for $80.00 a plate. The shrimp cocktail was also terrible. Server was ok, not super friendly. Never had this experience here before and we have dined often. I am blaming CoVid. We won't return until things are back to normal. Bread was awesome and the busboy was hardworking and attentive.
Table we got sat at had food crumbs and sticky soda spills. Service was decent food was good bit over priced for what you get.
A must stop in Rochester! Excellent food and service!
The Prime Rib and Filet were amazing! Best Meat in Town. It took a little while for the server to get to our table right away, but once he arrived there he did a fantastic job.
Wonderful place to celebrate my husband’s Birthday! We thoroughly enjoyed the Prime Rib Sandwich with all the trimmings. Our waiter was very attentive, made sure we had everything we needed. He stopped by our table an appropriate number of times to meet our needs! Highly recommended!
This was our first visit, and it was amazing! It was our anniversary. The waiter was outstanding and attentive. We know Beth personally and she complimented us with dessert after. It was all so good. Thank you!
The scallops appetizer was amazing! We also had steak and the loaded mashed potatoes, it was all delicious. Would definitely go there again!
Beautiful restaurant. Service was exceptional! Food was good but overpriced.
If you are looking for a good steakhouse in Rochester, Pittsburgh Blue is definitely the best. However, if you're hoping for something that compares to the best of the best that could be found in large cities (e.g., Ruth's Chris or any Chicago style steakhouse), well.....better go to one of those establishments. I got the prime rib, which was excellent, comparing favorably to Lawry's. My husband got the porterhouse, which was good, but he said he wished he had gone with prime rib as the porterhouse does not compare to Ruth's Chris. Many of the appetizers and desserts are designed to be shared, which is fine if you want to share, but if everyone in your party wants something different, then you end up with a serving that is way bigger than you need or want. Side dishes can be ordered as either a "to be shared" portion or individual. It would be nice if they did the same on appetizers & desserts. The service was great, as was the ambiance. They also offer some truly amazing handcrafted cocktails.
Mushroom-Capped Filet had a nice serving of sliced and sautéed mushrooms and filet was capped by a nice large mushroom. But the sizable blend of mushrooms and herbs was excessive. The filet was done nicely.
Dry steak and pasta dish terrible. Terrible value for the price.
The key lime pie was good
Wonder service from beginning to end.
Drinks and food outstanding!
The horseradish parmesan encrusted salmon is always amazing!
This is one of my favorite restaurants! You will not regret dining here!
Birthday dinner . For a Saturday night I was disappointed in that supposedly they had run out of their two top Gins.
There were 6 of us in our party. The steak, prime rib and walleye were all excellent and were prepared as ordered. We all enjoyed the sides which were loaded mashed potatoes, asparagus and the mushrooms. Portions of these are large so it was plenty for everyone with a little potatoes and mushrooms left over. We had enough asparagus for each of us to have two. For dessert we had the brownie and cheesecake. There was a little of each left over. Delicious!
Unbelievable flavor in food. From the steaks to the desert and everything in between.
The food is magnificent! The sides that say "single", are more than plenty for two people. Really wish the wine list was more affordable. I'm familiar with many of the wines they offer, and they are very over-priced. Go with an appetite, so you can enjoy a variety of foods.
Service was very poor, drinks that were ordered before the meal arrived after the meal
The food was awesome, the waiter was very nice and knowledgeable, the lighting was low and romantic for our rare dinner date.
Fabulous service and food.
We were in Rochester MN for Mayo Clinic appointments and were excited to try Pittsburgh Blue. The service and food were exceptional, but we were seated at a booth that was tight enough to be a children’s table. My husband and I joked that there was no way 4 adults could dine together in the booth. There was no leg room and so we asked for a table. We were told by the hostess that they were only seating booths due to the social distancing situation of Covid. The center tables were ample distance from the booths and there were many of them, all open. Although the food was outstanding and the service great, being cramped to the point my husband had to sit sideways in the booth, made our visit uncomfortable. We couldn’t wait to finish and take our dessert with us to our room. I would recommend dining here only if you are able to get a table or possibly a larger booth. I’m not sure if they are all the same size throughout the restaurant.
very nice, nice server, very helpful. the food was as perfect as you could imagine.
Steak perfect. Salmon was fabulous. Everyone should try Pittsburgh Blue.
Very nice restaurant and really good food! The staff was very professional and extremely knowledgeable about the foods, specials and beverages. I would highly recommend this establishment!!
It was very delicious the food was amazing and cooked to perfection. It was my first time going and the waiter told us everything we needed to know. Our waiter did mess up on the bill and charged both mine and boyfriends cards other then that it was amazing.
The food is awesome especially the mashed potatoes and of course the steaks were perfect.
Good food great service.
We had a delicious dinner for our anniversary. Kelsey was an excellent server.
Food quality is very good , maple glazed bacon a must to try. However the menu requires more character.
Had a bit of trouble ordering the sea bass. It arrived very burnt on both sides. Not sure why the chef attempted to cook the sea bass as a steak but it was done twice. It was my good fortune that my husband had ordered the kings cut of prime rib... which was spectacular. I believe this was just a fluke, perhaps someone hadn’t been correctly shown how to pan sear the sea bass. Everything else was wonderful. The hash browns were as spectacular as ever and the prime rib simply superb. I really enjoy the bread course too.
Wonderful addition to the Rochester dining scene. Can’t wait to return.
