Pizza Man - Wauwatosa
Great service and great food. Thank you! We love the fall old fashioned:)
dinner for 2 with a friend.
1/2 price wines by the bottle was a plus.
great brussels sprouts salad and pizza.
service was A-ok.
Enjoyed a nice dinner out with family while in town for a quick visit. This experience wasn't the Pizza Man indulgence of my past. While the pizza crust was excellent (cracker texture, light) the overall flavor was lacking on both pizza options we chose from the pre-devised selections. The calamari was overly fish, much too chewy and not tender as it should be. Also, the breading on all fried items tasted the same. Lastly, the cannoli shells were soggy and undesirable in taste and texture. Understandably these are not made in-house, but they should certainly be kept in an airtight container to avoid the offputting soggy texture.
Great food and service! Always a good place to go for a great meal.
The food was fantastic. The wine list was impressive and I was thrilled to have my favorite wine, Saldo. Our server was friendly and attentive. All in all, a great experience!
Excellent service and food! I need to be gluten free and the Brussels sprout salad and GF pizza were outstanding! It was my sons birthday and they made it xtra special with a dessert. Thank you for providing a safe place to dine in during COVID and for wearing masks!
Restaurant has discontinued their 2 for 1 pizza deal on Wednesdays and instead gone to a 20% off discount on Wednesdays. Although the staff was courteous they were clearly new and multiple employees were being trained - staff shortage was apparent but is what restaurants are contending with now. Manager did her best to wear multiple hats (hostess, waitress and bartender) and keep the operation running.
All in all food was good (pizza, brussel sprout salad) and staff gave effort even though new.
Everything was fine except it was extremely cold in the restaurant. The pizza got cold before we finished eating it. We were sitting in the bar area and there was a direct vent blowing down on our table. I am always cold in restaurants, but everyone at my table was freezing. We couldn’t wait to get outside!!
Our server Yasmeen was great
Thanks! I'll pass this along to her.
Host was unfriendly, service was slow while the place was not busy. My pizza came wrong and there fix was to take it in the back and pick the wrong toppings off and bring it right back while there was no apology of it.
We had a great time with great food, and I'm happy with the decor, layout, menu, and seating. Please don't miss the chance to sample the gelato and sorbets, they were phenomenal and so fresh. Eggplant fries were absolutely perfect and a very good portion for the table.
Changes I would make would be to ratchet the prices down a little, and look into some sort of shade for the greenhouse seating area, eyes were uncomfortably strained from the brightness, and if it were sunny rather than overcast, it would have been unbearable.
Food and atmosphere were otherwise top notch!
Love the eggplant fries. Pizza was delicious as always.
I hadn’t been to the Pizza Man for over a year and it seems they changed their menu and that’s a good thing. I’ve always loved their pizza, but some of the others selections were so-so. I had the pizza this time and it was delicious. We also ordered the fried zucchini and that was good too.
My mother had fettuccine Alfredo and I tried it and it was spectacular - love the homemade pasta!
Everything was wonderful!
Used to love the original location on North and Oakland.
The service was lackluster. Server didn’t check in and ask how the meal was or if she could bring us anything. No parm or crushed red pepper on table and she didn’t check back to see if we needed anything so we went without. Ordered cheese garlic bread and bruschetta as apps. The garlic bread was ok but no flavor at all. Tasted like bread with melted cheese. The bruschetta was the highlight of the entire dinner. Great flavor and presentation. Ordered two kid’s cheese pizzas and a large Milwaukee with green peppers. Absolutely zero flavor. The sauce was bland, the sausage and veggies tasted plain. We joked that the pizza was ok but tasted like a lean cuisine pizza. Diet pizza with no flavor made of thin cardboard. Not sure what happened to the great service and recipes from the old location but they are a thing of the past. If the meal we had tasted awesome I wouldn’t have minded the $64 bill. Way too pricey for below average pizza. We will not return to Pizza Man again. A real shame as the original location was our favorite. RIP
Soggy pizza crust. Little or no seasoning.
Good eggplant and Caesar salad.
Marginal Pinot Grigio.
Didnt get the shop united rewards credit from receipt when i wrote down phone #
This review needs to be adjusted for covid-comeback. The food was not what Pizza Man was prepandemic. It just wasn’t as good. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t as good. The place was almost empty on a Saturday night, which indicates that people are still not entirely comfortable dining out. The service was poor. Our server was pleasant but inexperienced. We had to ask for basic things like water to be refilled several times, and the table to be cleared of the last courses dishes. Twice the next course came out without removing the prior courses dishes making for an awkward experience. Pre pandemic this place was packed. I hope it comes back to what it was. Based on this experience, it was less than average.
Food is delicious but service was very, very slow.
Our server was good but you could tell they were struggling for staff. It took quite a while to get our food. When it came it was hot, fresh and good!
Great pizza and food. Our server was great and so friendly.
Service was not great. Food was very good. Would go back, in hopes of better overall experience.
I give this dining experience /restaurant a “meh” at best.
PM has been around a long time and it is hard to differentiate changes brought on by covid or that current management makes for other reasons but I found my experience to be disappointing.
This may or may not be a covid thing but the menu has shrunk down to a very small and boring selection of food choices. There were more salad than entree choices (which were all noodle based). Sandwiches offered items as fillings (eg Parmesan chicken) that once was also an entree. But before covid the menu was much more extensive. It is now way too limited in my opinion.
Service was OK. Place was maybes 25% full but our dinners (two pastas and one pizza) took almost an hour. The server did tell us just before the food came that the kitchen was backed up. Maybe they have a lot of doordash or other business but sitting in the restaurant for that long on simple dishes is not good.
What did get to me was that the server seemed unable to do anything that the policies did not allow; can’t get a different salad than the house by paying an up charge; because my salad came with the meal I could not get the salad before my meal came. So I sat while my wife had a salad as an appetizer and I couldn’t. What gives? My sense is that the servers and the kitchen must be run by some computer program for ordering etc and therefor they are unable to make any changes, even for things that are common in most other restaurants. I prefer eating at places where people run the system not some efficiency algorithm.
In short the food all tasted good. PM is know for their pizzas and their recipes are great. Our pastas were tasty but the sauce was like water and therefor hard to eat without getting some on our clothes. In my mind the meal was very pricey for what we got.
I left feeling good about the food taste but disappointed at the overall operation of the restaurant. Won’t be back for a long while.
Kitchen was backed up and it impacted service, but that's probably a matter of places ramping back up for service. Food was great.
I want to say first that our 2 servers were awesome.
Cheese curds were ok but I wouldn’t get them again. Too greasy.
We got a medium pizza but I’m pretty sure it was a small. The crust was so thin it was non existent in a couple spots. Many of the fresh basil leaves were black. The pizza was greasy as well.
We have never been here before and probably won’t be back. I’d rather have a Jacks frozen.
Somehow there was a miscommunication ordering and somehow my mother and I ended up sharing a entree of fettuccine. We expected separate entrees. We didn’t want to wait for a new one to be made so we shared.
Over priced.. especially the wine
Everyone had a great time pizza was delicious
The food and service was very good. I really enjoyed the fresh basil on my chicken parmesan sandwich. There were quiet a few empty tables so I was surprise to see we were seated at a table with a view of the alley and parking structure. It may have been to give each waitress a number of people.
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Enjoyed our leftovers for dinner that same night!
Sitting 5 adult me. in one booth was not comfortable at all. The hostess said she would move us but never did
Great food and wine and good pizza
The website has different wine prices than we were charged. The wine on tap wasn't worth $9 a glass during happy hour. We were seated in a booth where people were picking up to go orders, so it was noisy and killed the ambience. The pizza was good but it is probably a better idea to get it to go since the dining in option left a lot to be desired.
We were celebrating my wife’s birthday. Our waitress, Danielle, was helpful and attentive (but not overbearing). The food came out quickly and tasted great. Good experience overall.
Bianca pizza is the best! The zucchini fries are good too.
The meal was very good and that is the most important thing to us (ordered spag and meatballs and chicken alfredo). The service was excellent. Where we sat was not ok, and we should have said something, being across from the wait station is distracting. We ordered two Old Fashioned and it seemed like they forgot the alcohol. We had garden salad and the lettuce was cut for a taco, not for eating with a fork. I am being critical, but that is a sign that we enjoyed what was most important and that we will be back with friends next time to try the pizza. PS this is the first time I have ever written a review. Thank you for listening and thank you for your service.
6.30 reservation. Seated immediately. Relaxing meal and we stayed after 8pm closing time without being hassled. Very nice ecperience.
We were very disappointed with our latest dining experience at Pizza Man. We have been to Pizza Man numerous times over the years. It seems that there may have been changes in the recipe for their pizzas. The sauce tasted different and the crust was "limp" and not crispy and crusty, as usual. This is really too bad, but Pizza Man is not a place we will be dining at in the future.
Food was great. Service was great. No complaints!
RobinF, we are so excited you had a great time!
