Pizzeria Mozza - Newport Beach
We showed up early for our 6:15 Resy. And we’re seated right away. Jhonny our server was amazing, the whole experience from the moment we walked in until we left was excellent. Definitely, going to return.
We hadn’t been to Mozza for several years and were pleased to find enhanced menu items. We had a reservation but opted to sit at the bar which seems a bit quieter for 2. The restaurant was very upbeat and our server was attentive and helpful. The food was the best we remember from Mozza and the green goddess salad was a work of art and delicious. We have definitely added this restaurant back on our list!
Food was tasty but portions were quite small and overpriced.
Our server however was fantastic.
Valet Parking is way too expensive at $9, w/o tip?
The best pizza ever!
We've been here before and it's one of our favorites, but this time, it didn't hit the mark. Food was good, but we felt like we were rushed to order, eat, and leave the moment we sat down. Tried to get our waitress's attention so we can add more to our order since we were rushed to order with her standing there looking at us, we didn't know if we'd gotten enough, so wanted to get more, but she was long gone when we needed her and it was too late as we were told they needed everything to go into the system at once.
We had a reservation at 7pm. We arrived and they said they were triple booked and didn’t have a table for us. They said they had no idea when they could seat us so best fo just sit at the pizza counter since it was available. The ceiling above the pizza prep by the air conditioning exhaust is absolutely filthy. I have no doubt stuff is falling down onto the food. The service was only ok. There was no manager on duty and you could clearly tell. Someone needs to be in charge and be running the place.
We have not been back to the Newport Beach restaurant for a while. I've often craved the salume with fresno chiles pizza, but they have changed the recipe and the sauce, which was spicy and addictive is no longer on that pizza. My husband ordered the fennel sausage pizza. It was OK. When he added some salt it enhanced the flavor. The crust is uniformly good, but the sauces on the pizzas are not as good as they used to be. What has remained excellent and still a winner, is the Butterscotch Budino.
Waited at the bar prior to our reservation. They were a bit busy, so had to wait a little longer than expected. Andrew the bartender and the host were very accommodating to ensure our experience was excellent. Very pleased with the service!
My own creation
We loved Nancy's famous chopped salad, her Marguerite pizza, and pasta ragu! The pasta portion was small, I wanted more! I love everything about this place except the location. It's in the middle of car dealers. It doesn't feel special going inside because of the locations. Wasn't a big fan of the $9 valet either. The lot is right next to the restaurant and I still have to pay for parking?? That is what is keeping me from coming back.
Outstanding food and service
For someone of Nancy’s caliber I expected more. I had the Bolognese, I don’t mind small portions but you should charge accordingly plus certain pieces of the pasta where cold and there was very little Bolognese. The cauliflower appetizer was nothing special. I had three kinds of gelato Caramel being the best cookies and cream had ice in it. With so many choices most likely I won’t go back.
Sat in patio area very loud
Great place for a casual meal, but incredibly loud.
The food was incredible. Unique, well made, delicious. Our pizza crust was like scrumptious bread, with fresh tomato, tasty prosciutto and wonderful buffalo mozzarella. The spaghetti cacio e pepe was perfectly al dente and truly delicious, the tricolore salad was crisp and tasty, the apple slab pie was yummy. It would be five stars except for the price, in spite of the food quality and preparation, $15 for a pile of lettuce salad, $19 for a small portion of pasta, and $24 for a pizza is excessive. We had lunch right when they opened and the place was quiet and fairly empty, I imagine it gets pretty loud when full, and probably not the best place for good conversation. This is a wonderful place for foodies who are prepared to have a great meal at a high price.
One hour wait after having reservations. Our child was going nuts.
It was noisy and expensiv.
My husband and I came for a late lunch and we were seated quickly. We had early dinner plans and wanted something to hold us over. We shared the Meatballs al forno, the Spaghetti cacio e pepe, and had the Butterscotch Budino for dessert. They were all DELICIOUS!!! One of the best meals we’ve had there so far. We’re excited to go back :)
Went here for my birthday. My wife and I had previously eaten here and loved it. We just happened to be in the area and decided to stop in for dinner. We were both really excited but were incredibly let down by the pizza. My pizza was incredibly bland and my wife’s pizza she said tasted like they poured a can tomatoes onto the pizza. I’m sorry I really liked this place the first time but the second time I was mad that I spent $100 on a dinner for 2 that neither of us liked.
Good food and atmosphere and service.
Good service. Good food. We ate dinner early, so the restaurant was not busy and was quiet. Enjoyed the pizza with the fennel sausage.
Great for families and friends, food was delicious; get the meatballs!
Awful inattentive service in a nearly empty restaurant. Not at all what the place used to be.
Thank god I live 13 mi up the coast. If I lived closer I’d be here every week. Every part of the experience is fantastic. Food, staff, food, ambiance, food. Probably my favorite overall if I’m up for a 15 minute or more drive.
We love the pizza and the salads at Mozza but food was overshadowed by lackadaisical service , noise and absolutely miserable parking situation.
Delicious and special. Thank you!
Love the pizza here and the pastas.
Drink prices are ridiculous. $20 for a glass of house wine. $10 for a draft beer.
Simply a class joint !!!!
The food was very good as usual, the service was very good and attentive without being intrusive. However the noise level was pretty high, even in the small room to the left, which is normally more quiet. There was a very loud group there. We shushed them, which we never do in a restaurant.
Pizzeria Mozza is, in my opinion, the standout Italian Restaurant anywhere South of Los Angeles. I mean, right from the first appetizers, such as the fluffy and flavorful "Meatballs al Forno" or the crisp yet rich "Fried Squash Blossoms" to the standout entrees such as "Pizza with Salumi" or homemade "Cavatelli with Duck Ragu", you can taste the level of quality that goes into each and every portion. It feels made with love and from the best ingredients and, even with a lot of food including an outstanding "Apple Slab Pie with Vanilla Gelato", I never once felt over-full. I have only ever experienced this feeling twice in my life. Once was at the Sellane Steak Tavern in Laguna beach and the other time at Sushi Hana Re in Costa Mesa. It tells me that the ingredients are top notch and that, to me, lifts any cuisine from simply good to absolutely outstanding.
For appetizers, I recommend the "Meatballs al Forno", the "Fried Squash Blossoms with Ricotta", and the "Nancy's Chopped Salad".
For entrees, I would recomend any of the pizzas and pastas present, though my favorite dish has to be the "Baked Lazagna", though that is only served on weekends.
For desert, you can't go wrong with anything as I have tried them all, though I tend to prefer the pies whether they are apple or, if you are feeling the need to indulge, a firm-set gelato. If you wish to eat light, they offer scoops of gelato or sorbet.
Everything is meant to be shared at the table and the wine and cocktail list is absolutely wonderful. Buon Appetito!!!!!!!!
Their bianca pizza is delicious! My husband loves the lasagna!
I love Pizzeria Mozza and am thrilled that we have a world class restaurant just down the hill from us. You cannot beat the food, the service, the whole package. One of my favorite places!
The food was absolutely delicious! The tricolore is the best I’ve had anywhere and the Funghi pizza is amazing. AND the dessert with the marshmallow, gelato and salted Spanish peanuts is addicting!
The pizza was beyond belief ... as always! Bufala mozzarella, Fresno chili, sausage, basil and San Mariano tomato ... not a better pizza anywhere.
Meatball app was amazing and the pineapple sorbet sublime!
Paired with a perfect Nebbiolo this was a meal for the ages.
