Great restaurant!!! Love the atmosphere and food was amazing.
Will definitely return. Service was great, food was even better, and the cocktails were fantastic!
This was our second try of Plough. We attributed our first rough experience there to the fact that they were freshly opened and still finding their feet. But that was many months ago. Today our party was the only one seated in the restaurant during the 75 minutes that we were there. We had the place entirely to ourselves. But as was the case in our 1st visit, the folks at Plough don’t seem all that keen to have customers show up. One member of our party is a server in a restaurant half a block from Plough. She just rolled her eyes at the service miscues we experienced. The food was just OK. Nothing makes me believe that we will be giving them a 3rd try. Too bad; it’s a prime location.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Plough some weeks ago so I decided to try it out for brunch where we celebrated mom's birthday. We were a group of six and were delighted with the ambiance, the services and of course the amazing food. This is an outstanding addition to Lancaster's dining scene. We will definitely be back.
Dinner was delicious! Service wasn’t great. At some point our waitress came to our table once in 40 minutes. Food runner came out w food and didn’t bother asking if we were familiar with the marrow and how to eat it etc. I’d go back again but hoping the service would be better.
We went on Thankgiving. Very little choices if you didnt want turkey. Couldnt even get a salad or bread if requested. Our meals were very small.
But the flavor of the food was extremely tasty. There needed to be sides or larger portions especially for the price. Also see through kitchen is not inspired or interesting. Chefs looked stressed and the counters with semi prepped food were actually unappetizing. Yellow brick surround makes kitchen look institutional. Has potential but needs some TLC.
We had a lovely experience at Plough for a dinner date! The cornbread small plate was delicious, as was the scallop appetizer. Service and ambiance was wonderful.
Plough is the Marriott hotel restaurant. Parking is in the nearby garage or on the street. The Penn Square parking garage, operated by the parking authority, has many spaces reserved for Marriott guests. The parking rate (we paid $5.00) is expensive considering the location. There is no parking voucher issued for dining at Plough. The Marriott is on Penn Square in what was once Lancaster's largest department store, Watt and Shand. This was our 2nd visit to the hotel restaurant but 1st visit to Plough. We were promptly greeted and seated at the requested table by the window, with a view of quiet E King Street, on arrival. The restaurant was quiet because of few diners and/or bar flies. Our server was professional and helpful. The menu is small but diverse with several seasonal selections. We ordered wine by the glass and local craft beers. We started with the Yankee cornbread which was good especially with the fermented chili topping. I ordered small plates--the seasonal soup and salad. Both were tasty. The soup had a paltry 3 apple chunks but the salad was more than ample. My friends enjoyed burgers which were cooked to order. The burgers were good. After completing our meal we moved to the bar to enjoy another round of drinks and basketball. The bar tender was friendly and accommodating. Plough has excellent ambiance and is conducive for quiet conversation.
Duck Conit addition was phenomenal. Simon was a fantastic server as always. First time here and I will definitely be back.
The food was great and our server Maurice was exceptional!
The Menu is limited but the food was delicious. Our server was clearly not focused She couldn’t find our wine, asked us to make another selection and then magically found the bottle we requested. Our appetizer came long after our dinners arrived. The desert we ordered took 20 minutes to bake ...would not have been an issue had we been told and had there not been other issues with the meal.
Had an absolutely fantastic meal and experience. Our server, Kaylyn, overheard us talking about a chef’s table and offered to reseat us at yours. Chef welcomed us and responded when we engaged him, all while keeping a close eye on the flawless execution of plates emerging from the line and constant interaction with both the kitchen and wait staff. It was delightful to watch!! Throughout the evening, Kaylyn was knowledgeable and attentive and, I must add, and passionate about Plough’s vision and mission as a restaurant and for the community it serves!
Four of us shared a total of 6 menu items – 2 starters, cornbread and brussels sprouts; 2 small plates, pork belly and an autumn squash salad, and 2 entrees, short ribs and in-house rotisserie chicken. All dishes were thoughtfully and artfully arranged and absolutely delicious!! Many of the ingredients are sourced locally and menus are created based on seasonal availability. As residents of Lancaster, we commend Plough for taking advantage of their local growers and producers.
We will return often and highly recommend Plough!
Disappointing food. Bowl of soup came in very small pot and barely covered the vegetables. My sauces were ice cold.
Had real problems getting fish actually cooked through to done. Kitchen made 2 attempts and missed both times...fish delivered raw. Very disappointing for such a high-end facility.
Would have helped finding it to know beforehand that it was part of the Marriott. Food was tasty though.
Absolutely disgusting. The atmosphere was so lovely but the service was terrible and the food was worse.
We came here for my wife's birthday because most of our favorite local spots are closed on Mondays. The decor is modern and clean, the chairs are comfortable and the window table that we were sat at was very nice. Our server was very polite and attentive however did not know about a few menu items we asked about. We started with the oysters, this was an item that our server wasn't sure about so we didn't know what to expect. The menu describes them as being grilled, but the oyster itself is raw in the half shell like you would expect a traditional oyster to be. The temperature however was slightly warm and each oyster had some finely diced sausage, preserved lemon, and pickled onion I think. I have never had an oyster prepared this way and I was blown away at how much I enjoyed it. The accompanying ingredients did not overpower the natural "umami" of the oyster in its own brine, but definitely added a savoriness that was much appreciated and made me want to order more. We also ordered the Scallops, and Spicy Lamb Ragu entrees. The scallops were prepared with seasonal ingredients, the flavors and textures all combined to be an excellent dish. The Spicy lamb Ragu was excellently flavored although i wish it was just a little more spicy, the hand pulled noodles kind of dominated the dish because of the thickness of the noodles I wish there was a little less or a little more ragu. We finished the meal with chocolate cake which was served with a small scoop of ice cream and a layer of sweet crumbs and a whipped cream. Although this desert is something that everyone has had before, each item had just the right amount of sweetness and subtle flavoring that made it stand out and truly satisfy. The prices on the menu reflect the craftsmanship of the chefs and quality of ingredients, I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a special evening, and I will go back to sample more menu items as they seem to be constantly changing with the seasons.
Nice ambiance, good food, friendly service . . . . . .
It wasn’t as good as we had hoped! Venue is great but soup was barely warm and portion size was small!
Excellent food, attentive service, great dining experience!
Went for brunch but was very disappointed in menu. Not many choices and food was not very good. Disappointed wanted it to be good. Needs a better variety of food choices and food overall.
The hostess originally seated our party of 6 at a small table next to the bar. They were nice enough to find us a table in main portion of the restaurant to accommodate our group.
That Plough Feast is delicious wow
Charcuterie plate was amazing. Decent wine list
After a great start our waiter took our meal order and then disappeared from the scene. After about an hour wait without food, we learned that the waiter apparently had been overwhelmed with the crowd that was developing. Not sure if there was a problem with the order being placed. However, the manager who came to our table was VERY sympathetic and apologetic for our situation and helped get our dinners delivered immediately and made amends for the confusion. Was VERY impressed with how management dealt with our problem.....and the food was delicious!
Great experience. Re-amped Marriot! Food was delicious and the staff is amazing. Many restraunts will look to them for advise I'm sure. Enjoyed our visit. Chef is incredible. Lighting is perfect.
This was our second time at Plough and both times we were fortunate to have Simon as our waiter. While the food and ambiance are both great, in my opinion Simon’s knowledge of every ingredient in every entree and his ability to describe it to his patrons makes the experience just that much more awesome. He is professional and attentive without being overbearing, perfect balance.
Sunday brunch. Food taste was fine. Description of food needs some improvement. No winter squash with frittata/ no taste even if purée. Misleading. Side of roasted butternut squash.
Milk French toast tastes delicious but way too much. Take one piece , cut into 4 pieces, arrange artistically and top with jam etc. Add side of fruit salad or ....
Bar area was loud which spilled into the dining area. Service was very good. Food was delicious, small portions noted for the price. Aesthetically very pleasing food presentation. Might try again at some point...
We really enjoyed Plough. The food was great. We enjoyed/shared 4 small plates at a leisurely pace. Our server was very kind and shared much info with us about the restaurant-- which attempts to source all or nearly all-- of their ingredients locally (obviously not seafood). They change their menu very often as available food changes. Our sever noted they'd re-written the menu 12 times in their 2 months open. As a result, they don't have specials. The interior is beautiful. Even when it got full it was not loud. The goat cheese dumplings-- fabulous. The farmer cheese melt with bread.... oh my goodness!
Our only minor complaint.... we got cocktails. They were good. We did not get their specialty cocktails but more 'run of the mill' items like a dry up manhattan and a gin martini. From round one to two there was considerable pour difference. We mentioned it since it seemed we got about half a cocktail on the second round on the manhattan. They did make it right by bringing us an extra on the house-- basically another half cocktail.... so it worked out.... but I could see the host (from our table) was really having to have a serious convo with one of the bartenders to get it. But really... when the glass is less than half full.... that's weird. Hopefully they will sort out these small kinks over time.
We will definitely go back. Added bonus, since they are at the Marriott they are open on Mondays... when many places are not!
First time at the newly refurbished restaurant. Will definitely return.
I thought food choices were not good. Did not think food you got was worth price. I don't think it was fresh local either. One drink that was top of menu was out on 6PM on Sat night!
We waited over an hour for our food to come once we ordered. Our waitress Kathy was very nice and apologized several times for our food taking so long. The food was very good and the drinks were top notch.
This was our 2nd time at Plough. It’s everything you would expect from a Marriott. Great food, attentive service and good location on the square. The wine list could use some work with more Cali wines and hot food on hot plates. We had a great time and will be back again.
Expected much more after being closed for renovations. Very disappointed.
Our first time there and it was incredible. Server didn’t push our time along at all which allowed great conversation. The meal was excellent and rightly priced. We will be back for sure.
Food was good, but service was spotty (albeit cheerful). We got our appetizers quickly and enjoyed them, but then waited quite a while for entrees. During that time, there was no offer of drink refills or even additional water. Overall, I got the impression of inexperience or lack of training. But I will say that the wine and beer list were pretty good, and the food was generous and tasty. We will likely give the Plough another try in a bit and see if the overall experience improves.
We had an informal business meeting at one of the booths. Everything was perfect from the food to the total atmosphere. Thank you!!! We will all be back!
Food was outstanding and our server was fabulous. Highly recommend
Atmosphere was fantastic...our server didn't go into detail on the menu. We were able to listen to the adjacent server. The food presentation was very nice. The Diver's Scallops looked good, but was mediocre. They lacked flavor and the dish came out not very warm. For the price of our meal I was expecting a little better staff and food quality. The cheese and toasted bread appetizer was delicious. The short rib was good, a little smaller than i was expecting, but was tasty.
