Popolo Restaurant

Had gnocchi and pizza. The gnocchi was great, the pizza was terrible. Dominos standard, dull crust, heavy on the cheese, quite expensive given the lack of effort.
The location is brilliant, a little noisy but lively. Service was very good. Wines were expensive and not that impressive (overpriced) but passable. Had a montepulciano for $65 which was average for the appellation.

I was there for lunch with a friend. The position is fabulous, we were given a table where we both could see the river and it was a reasonably quiet day. The wait staff were excellent, service was impeccable. They were helpful explaining the menu as well as guiding us through the complicated mask wearing rules on that particular day.

The only disappointment was the food. We just had a light lunch, sharing a small and a large plate. The arancini was very bland. It was meant to have 4 cheeses and a caramelised shallot aioli but tasted much like plain rice. The pumpkin ravioli was ok but lacked that something special. I've been to Popolo's several times over the years (pre-COVID) and was always impressed. Not this time. I felt a little embarrassed for having recommend going there to my friend.

Very nice ambiance, service and food.
Would recommend the deserts, arancini, ragu and the porchetta.

Mushroom risotto and lamb ragu were amazing! Staff were very attentive. I have been here for work dinners, social lunches and date nights, the food and drink are always great.

Delicious share plates and exceptional service. Nice spot looking across the river to the city from South Bank too. 😊

Popolo was recommended to our group of 8 and we were not disappointed. the meals were served as you would expect and everyone enjoyed what we ordered.

Wine is expensive, some dishes were good, bugs were overdone, dry and overpriced. Would go back though, staff were good and quick.

What a spot!! What a view of Brisbane! Beautiful!! The waitress Katia(?) Was a scream and most entertaining. The food?? Ordered Lamb ragu but thought it could have been "saucier" and more seasoned. The spatchcock was succulent and delicious. No problems. We got a bit wet at the table due to storm but were moved into restaurant. All in all lovely evening. 2nd time there.

In COVID times appreciated the free outdoor setting. I try to be adventurous but always order the pork. Love the view where the cliffs meet the Brisbane river.

The 6 course chef selezione tasted as though the majority of the items on the menu had been frozen. The meatballs tasted processed and were dry with no real flavour.
We were also asked after every course what course we were up to. Given that our menus were taken away from us at the beginning we did not believe it was our responsibility to know what course we were at.
We did not receive clean plates after each course, which resulted in previous courses being tasted with the new course.
Unfortunately sitting at the front of the restaurant you have cigarette smoke from the foot path blowing into your face when you are eating.
When given the choice of tap or sparkling water, I do not see the need to serve customers warm tap water on a hot summers night. It would have been a lot more pleasant if it had been chilled.

Your food tasted like pre-cooked microwave food. The pizza base was terrible and dry. The pasta was dry and over cooked. The waitress forgot our order and you ran out of certain dishes. Your restaurant is overpriced and left us feeling unwell when we got home. I won’t be recommending your restaurant to anyone. Very disappointing.

We had a true Italian experience enjoying a banquet of traditional fare and exceptional personal service.

We went to Popolo’s on NYE. On the night we were told that there was only a set menu featuring mainly seafood. Our reservation was made without us realising this was happening on the night. My husband is vegetarian. Popolo’s were amazing, they didn’t send us away, but kindly accommodated us with a lovely selection of food. Everything about the night was wonderful - food, service, view and atmosphere. Wonderful restaurant!! The warmth and kindness from the staff was incredible.

A lazy lunch next to the Brisbane River in Summer what could be better.

Add to that a little touch of Italy and you have a perfect combination.

I have been before and will go again - you can't provide a higher recommendation than that.

The staff were amazing as always. It was my daughters birthday and they made it extra special with a beautiful mocktail. The margherita was great, and always a favourite of ours.

Service stuff are very kind! The food quality is good, nevertheless the flavours are not authentic Italian. A bit overpriced but I assume you pay for the great view. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend who is looking for authentic Italian food.

Our family had a delicious meal with fantastic service. It was a fun and vibrant evening and we look forward to eating there again. I would highly recommend it.
