Prairie Fire at the Padre Hotel
Wonderful outdoor dining space made special with festive lighting, fireplace, and outdoor heaters. Service was wonderful, for a good selection of drinks and food.
Took grandkids shark tooth hunting and had to stay overnight in Bakersfield. Had visited Prairie Fire once before when staying at the hotel and really enjoyed it. Everyone loved dinner as well as the live music which we hadn’t expected this time around. The waiting staff all wore masks and were very helpful.
Rooftop brunch has great food and a fun vibe.
The food, the service, the live music was all pretty good.
The check had the traditional room service charge and the waitress made it clear that it wasn’t gratuity. So you end up paying taxes- a service charge and tips which is almost 40% of the check - it diminishes value greatly
Great food, fast service. Unfortunately they were out of the truffle pretzels, but I was able to get the fries and they were delicious.
Very good food perfect menu.... nice and relaxing.
The food and drink selection was awful. Our server was great and he did his best considering the lack of the availability of wines on their list. The appetizer we ordered was pretzels, which we have had before, were stale.
Love the since of community and style here. Keep serving great drinks with a smile
The atmosphere was beautiful and enjoyable; the drinks were tasty. The food service was incredibly slow. We waited over an hour for our entrees, which is ridiculous. We also waited long periods of time for other things (our appetizer, extra dressing, and the bill). The food was very tasty. We also had an 8% service charge on our bill, which was explained to be due to covid. While we understand some restaurants may need to do this, being notified of the charge ahead of time (perhaps on the menu) would be appreciated. Although the reservation indicated our table could only be for two hours, we were seated in excess of this time, due to the very slow service (we were ready to order when asked about drinks and about entrees—no delays on our part). If you’re not in any sort of hurry, it’s a fun atmosphere with good food.
We celebrated our Familyversary here and it was very enjoyable.
My husband and I had a fabulous time we were there on September 17,2020 @ 6:30 reservation. We don’t remember our server name but I believe he is a manager He was outstanding!!!!! The food was great and the ambiance was good, everyone working there were just fabulous!! We are the Parents thank you all for all you do!!
Everything was perfect. Wednesday was our waitress and she was amazing!
This was our first time at this restaurant/bar. The open air patio offered safe distancing and masked staff. The sun was setting and the lighting above was great. The food was promptly served and delicious. The nachos were awesome. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. I look forward to becoming a ‘regular’!
Was a very relaxing, and comfortable place to be. Almost like a real date night with real people LOL
I took a date to the Belevedere room at the Padre Hotel for the tasting menu. Overall, it was a perfect evening with wonderful food and drink. We had one of the best pinot noir wines I have ever tasted. The Scottish salmon was my favorite dish, and I'm not overly fond of seafood.
The wait staff was as professional as you'd find in the finest restaurants across the world. I felt like I was teleported to some fine dining establishment in Marin county. I'm delighted to see Bakersfield offer fine dining.
Overall, the food was outstanding. Fresh, seasonal ingredients and everything was cooked to perfection. The portions were perfect for a tasting menu. My date was impressed and took photos of every dish, as she's an elite Yelper.
The staff were also compliant with CDC guidelines. They wore masks and gloves throughout the entire evening.
Obviously, guests can't wear a mask while eating, but you should bring one and wear it until you're seated and put it on if you leave your table for the evening or to go to the restroom. I neglected to do this. This restaurant is inside a hotel, so all of the guests in the lobby and hallways are wearing masks. It's the law now. We ended up going there without realizing the layout of the restaurant, so I left my mask in the car. In hindsight, I should have worn it into the bathroom, as another hotel guest was wearing his there.
You're not at risk eating here. They take every precaution to ensure your safety. Both the staff and hotel guests are following all guidelines.
I noticed that after the dinner guests at another table left for the evening, one of the staff members completely wiped down the tables and chairs.
I've been to other dining experiences in town since the pandemic. This is the only place that really seems to take it seriously and follows all of the rules. It's an expensive meal, but it won't be one of your last.
I will definitely come back here again. It's the best and safest restaurant in Bakersfield.
Our evening out at The Belvedere to celebrate our wedding anniversary was great! From the food to the service to the nice ambiance, we were continually impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our evening together! Would definitely go again!
Great first night out post lockdown. Charles was an excellent server, food and wine pairing was fantastic. You guys did good setting a safe atmosphere but still being warm and inviting well done!
Great Service! Love the Food, The Setting was perfect.
The room is very nice. The service was excellent . The food was very good. We will be back. The cheese plate was ahhhmazing.
Nice place, calm, fancy decoration, good food and service.
Overall pretty good, the steak tartar was excellent and the shrimp cocktail was also excellent, lots of shrimp. The pasta was over salted, don’t recommend. Chef rj
Enjoyed the restaurant very much. Found the portions to be large. Shrimp cocktail was excellent.
The food and drinks were amazing! The atmosphere was quiet and romantic. The staff attended to our needs at all times.
It was a special evening for my wife and I. It was a smooth seating, timing of the food was excellent. Our waiter was very professional and attentive. The food was excellent, although the portion sizes were very small, notably the 1st course and the fifth course. Overall the dining experience was very good.
Small portions, over priced. Chef is trying to hard to make his own mark. French onion soup did not taste anything like French onion soup. Service was very good and helpful though.
1- the food was a 3.5 ou t of 5, I wish they would use a bit of fresher ingredients for their meats.
2- the chairs feel that you are sitting in toilets, is tough when you sit and you sink too deep that the table is almost at chest level.
3- the desert we tried 2 of them, A- creme brûlée was delicious, the amazing top crust was perfectly done. B- the second dessert was sour dough chocolate wi ice cream, the bread was a bit too salty but still interesting.
4- the service, there is nothing better than get in amazing service, Adrian our waiter was genuinely taking care of us. He made the experience worth enough to come back and try the restaurant again. !
The food was wonderful. My scallops, risotto, and salad were delicious. My husband loved his beef tenderloin, asparagus, and onion rings. We had the blondie for dessert and it was fantastic. Everything was perfectly cooked and portioned. The service was great although it seemed like the bar was a little behind. We didn’t mind but some people get fussy about that. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the noise level. I understand the layout is going to result in this but I would suggest keeping the music from the other restaurant low until maybe 9:00 pm. The sound does effect that “fine dining” feel.
It was a bit loud from the bar area and there were several large birthday parties so probably not the best location for a romantic date. The food was superb!!
This was our 3rd time dining here. We always stay at The Padre Hotel when driving north from LA to Paso Robles. As always, the food and service were excellent. This time the restaurant was showing signs of ‘aging.’ It does need a fresh coat of paint and new seat cushions (padding) on the chairs. But, other than that it was great! Remember, this is Bakersfield! The Belvedere is most probably the only restaurant of this high quality in the entire town. We will definitely return.
Great place for a nice dinner. Service was excellent. Cheese plate is a must. Prices were decent.
Food and service exceeded our expectations in every way. Standouts were the braised beet salad, onion soup, salmon, and the New York strip. Highly recommended.
This venue is head and shoulders better than any restaurant in Bakersfield. The ambiance and food are like none other!
The service was very good; the food and the portions were quite average and to be honest, I expected more for the price. It was not a particularly good value and I’ve had better for half the price of that 3-course meal.
The food was fantastic and service was friendly and courteous
Anniversary. Food and service was good, but overpriced for the ambiance which I wasn’t partial too. I suppose I’m just not their demographic customer.
I would definitely recommend for dinner. I don’t recommend it for a holiday meal brunch. The food was cold and they could of kept it filled more frequently. I assume the Sunday brunch is the same as a holiday brunch. We paid $39.00 for an adult and $15.00 for a 4 year old. It was over priced for the value of the food. Our bill was $285.00 and it was not worth that. We were sat in the bar area and I wish we were sat in a restaurant setting that would of felt more like a family lunch. I wish our server would of told us if drinks were included with the meal.
outstanding dinner, outstanding service, fun setting in the Padre, for our pre-Thanksgiving dinner!
