Quite noisy but the great food (and of course drinks) and service soon have you forgetting you can’t hear yourself think
Awesome spot with a nice varietal menu and live music!
part of the reason we came was the friday jazz quintet-awesome!! but also had a great meal, including the delicious donuts- save room and share. our server was lovely, she had a brogue which added to the st patricks vibe, but was a dear, and everyone else was so friendly. we enjoyed the delicious food and local beers too
Excellent food and service! Shrimp and grits as well as Mexican street corn is a must!
Overall dining experience was excellent. Food was tasty and craft cocktail list even better. Live music was a nice plus. Would highly recommend, great for a girls night.
It was really dark in there! Brunch needs to have more light. Food and service were excellent.
We were a group of 7. We sat on the patio, which was much less noisy on a busy Saturday night. The menu is creative and all our dishes were wonderful! The Brussels sprouts appetizer was fabulous, as were the scallops! Our server was professional and friendly, and never missed a beat! The cocktail menu is great, and the cocktails were some of the best we had during our visit to Charleston! Prohibition is one of new favorites!
The food was delicious, the service was superb and the live music was an added bonus! Highly recommend to locals and tourists!
After the band finished, the type of crowd changed
Was our first trip to Charleston. Had delicious food, great accommodation! Your Shrimp and Grits were out of this world! Even had the live music! We will definitely be back!
Prohibition really brought it! Great food (large portions, too!), awesome cocktail list, fun atmosphere! There was a bluegrass band playing during dinner that was a lot of fun! It was loud, but didn't really bother us!
Food was great. The deviled eggs are really amazing. The only weird thing I would say is it seemed like they were really rushing to turn tables. It seemed like as soon as we were done with our last bite, they were trying to clear the tables of every dish. So much to the point that we had paid the check but couldn't get out of the table because the server was too busy trying to clear our table. Just a weird sort of style of service. I understand the sense of urgency and being attentive, but it came across as they were rushing us out. (Table next to us experienced the same thing). Again, food was fantastic.
Gathering of friends.
We were in on Sunday morning with two young children sitting near the band and just wanted to say that the server was great and the food was great too.
The right place for everyone! Exceptional service, delicious food and incredible vibe! Loved the live band playing the classics, followed by DJ tunes of today. Is my go to recommendation for friends visiting Charleston!
Food was exquisite.
The only reason I gave 3 overall stars, was because, though we had reservations made many days before our evening out, we got there 9 minutes early, the host and hostess told us to walk around inside while we waited, which was fine, and then were told ‘the only table we have for you is outside’. It was FREEZING- literally. (I need to point out there were several open tables noticed inside) Yes, they had heaters, but when we asked if a heater could be moved closer to our table, it never happened. But, when a large party was seated next to us, the person seating them said ‘you’re a large party, so we want to make sure you are warm’. $200 total spent by our party of 3; I don’t understand why our comfort wasn’t just as much of a priority. One of my party discussed this with the manager, who was cordial, but it still left me frustrated.
That said, the food was on-point, server was fantastic, but I feel like baby was put in a corner.
Great Charleston bar and restaurant. Beyond their selection of cocktails and distilled spirits, Prohibition also has a great selection of beer on tap.
The food is excellent; it's well prepared and large portions.
Oscar was amazing. Drinks and food were delish. Great venue.
We were vacationing in Charleston, South Carolina and this is one of the best dinners we had. Everything was delicious!!!
Food was great. Drinks were a disappointment.
Shep was a fantastic waiter & very attentive. We had a great meal & the swing dancing added to the great atmosphere.
We were there for brunch. Reasonable prices, gluten free options. Lots of different spaces, from outdoor covered and uncovered, 2 bars and a formal dining room. Little bluegrass band playing. Great time!
The food was amazing! We went for Sunday brunch. My friend and I split the eggs Benedict which was so so good. It was made with bacon instead of ham which I don’t like so it was a big win win for me. We also had the peach French toast. Wow, it was fantastic. I like a little savory and sweet so it was the perfect match. And just b/c we had to try them we started with the beignets which were again, fantastic!! Our guys both had the Cubans and loved them. The drinks were great as well. The service was great too.
The only thing that wasn’t great was the noise level. Once it got to be about noon it started getting very loud as the place started really filling up. We arrived at 10:30 and it was quiet and only a few tables. Very enjoyable.
Great meal and cocktails. Cool vibe with live music, too.
Absolutely amazing. I have done fine dining around the globe! Get the tartare. N y strip. Awesome!! Ask for shep.
Great food, great drinks, great service. Consistently lovely every time we go.
Great food! Great drinks! Awesome atmosphere, and great staff. I will be back.
Read about this place so we were excited to try. Hostess was not welcoming, which set a bad tone from beginning; approached us as if we were intruding or had walked into the wrong building. Then sat us by the bathrooms and practically on top of another table, even though there were several open tables and we had a reservation. She could see we were not thrilled about it, but made no effort to change or table or even suggest we sit at the bar. She alternated between smirking and scouring at us the whole time. Just a weird vibe. The waitress was great, but the food was just "meh". Had stuffed french toast that was ok - thick bread with breaded crusting made it kinda of heavy and dense - came with a ricotta cream that was good, if you like sweetened ricotta which I do. The fried chicken and biscuit dish was dry and kind of bland, despite the gravy it came with. The bloody Mary had a sweet taste that was not enjoyable to us. A table of 4 was sat near us as we were finishing up, they seemed to have the same feeling from the hostess, and the elected to leave after just getting water - but honestly, it did not seem like anyone one even noticed or cared. Maybe it was an off day - we went during brunch hours, but I would not bother going back.
It was our first Valentine’s day as a married couple and our first time traveling to Charleston. We very much enjoyed the live music and lighting. On top of that the service was wonderful. It was a busy night and we were still well attended to. The cocktail list and food options were fitting to the theme of the restaurant. Everything was so delicious. It was a night to remember. So great!
Prohibition was on point. The drinks were amazing, the appetizers were perfect the smoked beef tartare, bone marrow, the warm crab toast is a must. The lobster and shrimp pasta was perfectly paired and flavors were exquisite, gnocchi was amazing with adding shrimp. And then the whiskey pie was to die for and it is a perfect finish to this awesome dinner
We loved the food! We did the Chef Special lobster/shrimp with noodles, tomatoes and a wonderful broth! The complimentary appetizer was wonderful...wish there had been more if it or that it was on the menu. We chose bourbon pie for dessert...outstanding! Great meal! We’d highly recommend it!
Food was phenomenal, service was even better. & the cocktails were out of this world. The kitchen had Valentine's gifts for each table & the hosts gave me a rose on our way out. We will definitely be back!
Very knowledgable staff and extremely friendly! The food was amazing and good size portions! Would definitely recommend and will return!
Excellent bar and restaurant. Good music. Reservations recommended. Booth seating options. Back patio and second bar as well. Prefer main bar area. Craft cocktails and energetic crowd. Recommend
Prohibition is a great restaurant that serves top of the line food and their drinks are even better. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in town
Had brunch with a group of 6. Food was delicious and drinks were great. It was a bit chilly so we sat inside, but their patio area is really nice as well.
We loved the atmosphere, food and our server, Oscar was phenomenal! The band was awesome!
Great, service and food was excellent!
The chair was very uncomfortable. The food was very good.
