Provender Kitchen + Bar

I made my reservation early on purpose 5:15 PM. I am seasoned in the food industry as I personally served tables for 4 years. I know what to expect on holidays & when general rush's come. 5:15 was on purpose to avoid this.

We sat at 5:15. There was 2-3 tables already seated in the restaurant & possibly 1 couple at the bar. Not busy. We ordered our drinks ~5:20. The server jetted off & put our order in. We were actually quite hungry & hoping to throw an order of their fries in to start but she was gone before we got a word out. No big. ~ 5:30 she returned with our drinks - not awful. They are craft cocktails, so the timing is to be expected. At this point we put our order in. We asked for an order of fries to start - we asked for them to come first. We also ordered 2 separate apps, the fried manchego & calamari, entrees of pork shanks & rib eye. We waited quite a while, but were enjoying our drinks when the fried manchego came out (not the fries). We thought it was odd that we asked for fries first - but hey, it happens. Then the other 2 apps come & we are asked if we need anything else & we said not at the moment. This was ~6:00? Not entirely sure on the time. Then we sat. & we sat & we sat. Nobody checked on us. drinks empty. at 6:45 I asked if our entrees had been fired because we were considering leaving - the server said yup & kept going, didn't ask if we needed anything. @ 6:55 the entrees finally came. We immediately asked for a box & checks. We had been there for 1hr 45 min. She asked why we wanted it to go & we said we had been waiting a long time, she immediately came back & said 'I only put your entrée in 1 hour & 15 minutes ago'. I then said 'We are pretty bummed we have been sitting with empty drinks for so long'. She leaned over & said 'they don't look empty to me'....they were all melted ice for an hour & 30 min. That part was the most shocking response to us. Then we realized the ribeye came with absolutely nothing. Very disappointing

Our favorite destination in Eastern Maine. I admire there perseverance and creativity as they have navigated Covid 2020. They deserve our support and my wife and I are committed to doing our part. The focus on creative food wonderfully prepared is a joy to behold.

We enjoyed a very special birthday brunch at Provender's. Thank you for your care and attention to protecting your patrons during this health crisis. We felt comfortable and even like we had just found a wonderful escape from this hectic world. Delicious and delightful.

Hands down best meal and experience my wife and I have had. The flavors were amazing from the duck, lamb and ny strip. We will be back for sure thank you

We had clam chowder to start and it was out of this world good! It had plenty of clams and potatoes and was served hot. The burgers are the best in town and cooked to the customers request as far as doneness. The servers are attentive and work as a team so whenever something is needed, there is someone to provide it.

Great food well served....7:30 reservation seated after 8. Diners in the booth finished before 7:30, were politely told it was needed for a 7:30 diners and just sat there until after 8. With Covid, seating restrictions options are limited...
You can’t fix rude!!!

Had a fantastic supper out. Coursed perfectly without feeling rushed. Everything from appetizers to dessert was outstanding. Will definitely be returning.

Hell Night 2020 - second annual. A wonderful night with delicious spicy dishes from around the world. The regular menu was available as well. Service, food, ambiance.....it was all there! Thank you so much. We’ll definitely be back!

Provender Kitchen is always a delight. Daron, Joy, and the staff put together a truly wonderful dining experience. The food is delicious and comes from local providers where possible. Daron rotates the menu, always bringing in unique and flavorful options. The service staff is friendly and accommodating and really add to the dining experience. The bar service is varied with many items to choose from. Truly this is one of the best dining experiences in Downeast Maine. This trip we celebrated my wife’s birthday. I was able to have a florist deliver flowers to the restaurant and the flowers were waiting on our table when we got there. The staff all wished her a happy birthday without going over the top and embarrassing her. I really appreciated how everything came together. Also good to note is that Provender does a great job with social distancing and clean up between customers to help keep everyone safe.

Delicious dinner! I had the Dover Sole and it was excellent - I would def go back! Salad was tasty and interesting... so good.

Just amazing!! Such unique combinations! Do not pass up the Maine Mussels appetizer- the best I have ever had. The preserved lemon in the sauce is key! All entrees were stellar. Save room for dessert.. Coconut cornbread was just the icing on the cake!! Darren We lived speaking with you- wishing you health and success!!

Not what we were expecting after reading all the great reviews. Small portions for high prices. Flavors were not complimentary overall. The only thing that we truly enjoyed was the tamarind/bourbon cocktail. My boys enjoyed their burgers and fries for $16, but I could have taken them to mcDonalds and save a lot of money.

The atmosphere is great and the food is absolutely magnificent! It was such a lovely experience and we will definitely go back!

The menu here is a joy. BUT, I can't read it any more because I tried the hamburger about 5 visits ago and have not been able to order anything else since. Two small patties with great toppings and terrific fries. As I write this, I am resolving to go more often and discipline myself to explore the menu every other visit. I hope they are able to expand into the now vacant space in the building. They deserve the success that would imply.

We love the unique twists the chef uses on 'traditional' foods, drinks are always great and unexpected and the service is always awesome.

We happened upon this when looking on Open Table while vacationing in Maine. We had the most amazing dining experience and a phenomenal meal. The craft cocktails were unique and yummy, the chef’s dinner special was superb. This was more than just dinner...it was a culinary escape. Will definitely dine here again when we visit Maine next.

My husband I enjoyed everything from the yummy cocktails, delicious Wagyu beef skewers, the fig appetizer will be in our dreams for a long time to come. We enjoyed our entrees which were very good portions. Save room for the cornbread coconut dessert. This is worth feeling full for!

Such a fun meal in Hancock! Food was delicious and innovative. The staff was really friendly. I have a gluten allergy and they were very helpful in figuring out what I can and cannot eat on the menu and making substitutions where needed. Will definitely be back!

It's not so much the entree itself but everything around it that makes Provender such an outstanding dining experience. I'm not always sure what I am eating but it is invariably unusual and delicious. Provender is one of the best restaurants that I have ever experienced, anywhere.

We return to this fantastic restaurant each year, and it never disappoints! We felt very safe due to the Covid precautions taken by the staff.

Impromptu dinner en route Downeast. Due to COVID we sat outside, next to a heat lamp. The cocktails were delicious. The appetizers and entrees were seasonal, delicious and the portions were generous. Everyone was super nice and we took the wine cork with us to try to find the Barolo on our own. Looking forward to visiting again!!

Simply the best dining in eastern Maine..maybe all of Maine. Have dined here before and its easy, approachable menu, great quality food and service make this a great choice. A small venue on Maine street in Ellsworth, PKB has character and a sense of what's right with food and beverage. This visit, enjoyed the steak and partner had the fettucini-both were excellent. Excellent and interesting wine list, but this time tried the Thai and The Family Stone mocktail for a change at the server's (Jen) recommendation was very pleasantly surprised. Another great visit at PKB in Ellsworth. Just wish it were closer.

Very very pleasantly surprised. Food, service, presentation, quality were EXCELLENT! Going back Sunday for brunch. Owner Joy is wonderful. Everything the 4 of us had was great.
