Pub at The House
We love the venue, the atmosphere and the ambiance. Phil Smith has done an amazing job in opening up this Historic House to the public. What better use than a Garden setting Pub with live entertainment. The staff and servers are very personable and friendly and go out of their way to make every effort for patrones to have an enjoyable evening. Always good to see Debbie and staff also partaking in the event.
Too bad our season is not longer. We are extremely happy to have this Pub at the House in our neighbourhood.
Cheers, Joyce & John
The Miller Lash is a special place, and we are so lucky to have it on our doorstep. The location has it all - wonderful setting, interesting craft beers, great food and good music (I’m not just saying this because my friend Richard Bacon was in the band, Kennedy Station) I introduced Miller Lash to my band mate and fellow guitar player on Sept 12 - and he was blown away by the whole experience (and Kennedy Station!)
The food, the ambience was great however the service was the the greatest. Simple things like waiting for a fork to eat a warm, now cold desert and waiting for sugar for your coffee (both about 10 minutes)
I recommend this place but the need to up the customer service game.
We reserved table #6 for 6:00 pm & arrived on time only to be told that our table ha been given to another couple. The staff could nor have cared less & sat us at another table . We dined at the Pub about 5 times this year & this is the second time this has happened . The first time the manager told my partner we were lucky to get in. The staff handling the seating have no idea how to manage a restaurant & should be replaced. If the Pub did not offer such a unique dining experience to Scarborough I would never go there for dinner.
We do our best to manage the reservations in a way that is fair. We do not guarantee specific table numbers as it would be impossible if everyone wanted the same table(s). We occasionally have to adjust our seating to accommodate different sized parties.
Our evening was good, service good also. Look forward to returning
I have many times before recommended to dine at the Pub at the House. I just wish they were open more days than only Thurs. We had the special and it was so good and good portion too but only thing was it left us wanting more. Dessert was scrumptious too.
I wanted to invite 2 friends to join me on tues. pm. They tried to book the same time, 5:45pm but could only get one hour later. So I tried to change my reserv. to 4 people for 5:45 and was able to change 2 to 4 but could not find any button to "send or submit" the change. I then clicked on "invite" and gave you their email but they did not receive anything from you. So I called you and left a message requesting a change from 2 to 4 for 5:45PM. tHAT WAS APPROX. 4:40 PM TUES. 23 hours later you returned my call saying the change was OK. So I called my friends but they had now made other plans. The 2 of us arrived on thur. at 5:45 and found the place then than half filled and remained that way for most of the evening. The Phoxy band was good and my friends would have enjoyed them but unfortunately your reservation system wouldn't accomodate a change to my reservation.
The venue is a hidden gem! Every time we take visitors they comment on how lovely the grounds are kept, how friendly and professional the staff, are and how terrific the entertainment is.
Burgers were very good . Glad there was gluten free buns. Music was nice -- not too loud -- perfect for talking at the table. Service was friendly. Nice relaxing place. Absolutely will come again.
The atmosphere is great. The food is very good. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The music was great. Amazing evening in a beautiful setting.
The music is great, The atmosphere was good. We had a challenge being seated as we encountered a designated smoking area. We protested and were moved. Why in this day and age would you have a smoking area? If they want to smoke that badly, go to the parking lot and smoke. The walk might improve the health. Wish it was open longer ....
We enjoyed ourselves very much. This place is a hidden gem
Loved our evening, the food was good, the service excellent and the music delightful. Having dinner in the garden under the shade of a beautiful tree with music in the background was almost magical.
This is a nice place setting wise but each summer after we go we remember why it’s only once we go. It’s local and supporting a local organization that runs it. They ran out of chicken wings by 7:30 so we ordered nachos. Unfortunately everything came at once, not an appetizer first as ordered. The pizza unfortunately reminded us of a microwave pizza. The burger was good. The nachos were very large but the chips at the bottom become bare. The cheese plate was a majority of cheddar and not worth the money at $16. Overall the setting is nice and there is live music.
The service was quite slow, which was unusual for this restaurant.A long time to be waited on.
The chicken and roasted vegetables were delicious.
We enjoy eating here.
Food has gone downhill since last year. Wings were cold, salads were small, choice was limited and pricey for what you got. Although nice, service staff were slow and got orders wrong or incomplete.
The setting is lovely , and music good (if you are not too close to the speaker!).
Had a very nice dining experience, but the band was not really Caribbean focused and the sax was too dominant; the steel drums were drowned out!
Beautiful setting. Food just OK. The guest musician was very good. Overall the evening was enjoyable and relaxing and I would return.
The food was very good, it issue was that the portions were very very small. We had to order two servings of pizza for the kids, just to fill them up. That made it very expensive. The ladies ordered salad for dinner, which ended up being the same size as the side salad my husband received with his burger. There was 10 people in our party and every one had to go home and have something else to eat. Better to go to enjoy the view and just have a drink.
I requested table # 6 at 6:15 & had a confirmation. When we arrived on time table # 6 had not been reserved for us. We were told that they were busy so too bad. The manager?even told my partner we were lucky to be in the restaurant. Very poor service even for a pub.
We have reserved table number # 6 for 6:30 on 1 Aug to see if the Pub can meet their confirmations.
We had a lovely evening and the food (salmon) was exceptional. The only suggestion we have, is that you should provide more tables for two on the deck, so that we do not feel guilty sitting at a table for four. You should also be prepared to join up the tables for two to make tables for four if required.
It is a beautiful venue. It has small town charm. Having some shared tables is a great idea. We sat at one and the people beside us were very nice. The spinach and apple salad was great. My friend had the salmon and said it was excellent. The menu is small with good options. There are some vegetarian options. Wonderful staff. The singer was great. Its a must must try.
Everything was perfect, very casual, but welcoming. Beautiful place, amazing atmosphere. Matt, the musician, delighted our ears with his voice and guitar. Not so many choices of food n but tasty and for reasonable price. Great drinks and service.
The ambience is great, sitting in a garden on a summer night. Our server Georgia was so much fun, she really added to the evening. The music was ok, perhaps more care should be given to the choice of performer.
Overall I enjoy visiting the Pub.
Perfect as always! I go to Pub at the house every Thursday during the summer season. The food, ambiance, service, music is always perfect! I love it there. Wish they had it indoors for the fall and winter months.
Great atmosphere, the staff is so nice & a beautiful setting. Always a great night! Thank you
Service here is a big problem, and has been for years. Serves don't circulate frequently. Would have ordered more if we had been approached. Finally gave up. Our server went home part way through the evening and we were ignored thereafter. Big fix needed here.
RonH, Thank you for your comments. We will address the specifics of your observations going forward! Very sorry for your bad experience and we will work on the Big Fix immediately.
My friends and I were very disappointed as the email had said the special was salmon and when we arrived the menu was lamb shranks. The staff were very helpful and even asked the chef if there was any salmon but unfortunately it appears that it was an error by the marketing person who sent out the email.
We did not stay at the event. Please insure in future the marketing and the menu are the same
Outstanding summer patio experience in a unique setting. One of the most scenic vistas in Toronto.
The food was average but we enjoyed the live music from Port United. It was a little loud but it made for a fun evening when we got up and danced. It was raining outside so we were in the tent, but it was quite comfortable. We thought the service was good.
Great night! Loved the band and great atmosphere!
My parents and I were very excited to go to this - we are local to the community and we love the area and every year we say we will go to the “pub at the house” when the sign goes up. We were very disappointed. The music tonight was great - the musician was lovely and talented but the music was too loud for dinner conversation. It was cold and damp tonight and the tent outside was where the event was which was confusing because the Miller Lash House has great character that lends itself to a pub atmosphere so we expected it to be indoors, not outside in a wedding tent. The tables and chairs were tacky, the table cloths were plastic. I would hate to see what a wedding looks like in this tent. They had good local options for alcohol which was a nice touch. The service left a lot to be desired...my dad ordered a Caesar salad which he never got. He ordered what was called a focaccia pizza but was brought 4 triangles of what should only be considered a paper thin flatbread pizza appetizer - not an entree. I understand they don’t have a full kitchen or a full time staff so it must be hard to have options there but if you’re going to have the event run all summer then it needs to be better. Lastly after our meal - during which we were given no water or additional drinks or anything cleared away (in fact I’m sure our server never came to us once after our appetizer arrived) we were given the bill which charged us $26 for each of the salmon features we had ordered but they should’ve only been $19.95 as they were advertised. I’m sure it was a mistake on the servers part however we were watching the rest of the staff struggle at the tables around us. One table was never brought an entree for the 4th member of their party, one other table got their entrees and then were informed they were out of the salads they had ordered for their appetizers. This event concept has a lot of potential especially in this community but not with Aramark’s food and this much poor execution.
Please know that we take these concerns to heart. When inclement weather occurs, we use the tent as the inside of the house does not have the capacity for our “pub” atmosphere. Rest assured, a wedding inside the tent looks nothing like this! In terms of the food and service you received, we admittedly fell down in these categories. We promise we can, and will, do better! We invite you to have dinner on us! firstname.lastname@example.org is my email. Cheers!
It is early days so the servers are learning. They are eager and will learn quickly. The setting is superb and the music was not overpowering.
A very enjoyable evening.
I love going to Miller lash pub for the location and atmosphere. You are on a patio surround by a beautiful garden listening to music
I only wish the service was better. The staff are very friendly but it feels like it is their first day on the job ...always have to ask for things. But it doesn’t stop me from going.
Feel they need for training ....or something
A lovely outdoor venue,an opportunity to sit outside and enjoy either a full entree or something lighte.
Great place. Good landscaping. Good band. What happened to the server?
Always have a great time at The Millar Lash House!
Always great food and music and the scenery is beautiful!!!!
The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the music was delightful, the roof over the table was not intrusive yet provided protection from rain so I highly recommend it.
