Quod Restaurant & Bar

We went out Christmas evening and it was perfect!!!!! I will definitely be going back and will recommend people to experience for themselves

It was a Xmas late lunch so the £95/head was a festive hike which we accepted.

Starter and main a bit tired by 1600hours-too long in the warming oven etc? Untidily served on the plate. Puds were good. Large overcooked piece of turbot-sad waste of a nice piece of fish. Beef was good.

Will try it again when the menu is at normal prices.

Pleasant staff. Jammed all day so excellent last minute income before the lockdown.

Was our first Christmas not at home due to covid guidelines and family not being able to be together. But we were lucky enough to find a booking space for two at the Quod at late notice and it was incredible! The food and service was amazing. And the atmosphere and decor was beautiful.

Our waitress from Namibia was excellent! Food was great too :)

We had a fantastic Christmas Day lunch. The food was tasty and plentiful and even with lockdown looming the next day, we felt that the restaurant was very well socially distanced but still had a festive and social feel. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and very happy to help at all times. Thoroughly recommended and would definitely come back at Christmas- thank you.

Quod always delivers. Great cod with fennel and some chips. My partner had chicken Caesar salad with some chips too. Great portions. May be the day before lockdown so they had lots of food to pile up our plates, and very good value with two decent glasses of wine around £60.

The set menu is great. I love the space. However, the staff could be a little more engaging.

We felt the ambience in the Winter Garden was lovely and it was not as chilly as we had expected. The food was fine but honestly, a little over priced for the quality on offer. We were irritated as the till receipt printed numbers incorrectly which meant a couple of us underpaid and we couldn’t figure out where we we had gone wrong. Our main gripe is that we were four people and put on a table for two. It was very cramped. It felt a bit unwise given we were so close to each other and from different households. We can only assume this is done to pack in more tables but the restaurant wasn’t full.

Excellent service, Ben, our waiter was friendly, helpful and endured we felt safe a d secure. Highly recommended.

Very tasty food and nice atmosphere. This was particularly helped by the lovely live piano playing.

The food and atmosphere was as always perfect. I do however object to the 12.5% service charge that is automatically added to the bill. I would always leave a tip as i work in hospitality myself but I think that £15 was quite excessive and I do not like being told what I should leave.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful service, delicious food. Tables are discreetly separated by glass screens so it felt very Covid-secure in an unobtrusive manner. Strongly recommend the clementine sorbet with Grand Marnier jelly!

It’s always good and even with COVID etc it remains excellent.
Wide choice on the menu - all of it good.
Good COVID safety with screens etc - you can still see everyone but for those more nervous types they provide comfort etc.

Would normally give Quod 4 to 5 stars across the board. And I realise it is Christmas but we were sat for 20 minutes before a drink order was taken for cocktails, my starter then arrived before my drink which took a further 30 minutes to arrive. The main course arrived 45 minutes later.... fortunately they changed our waiter towards the end and the following drinks, dessert and coffee were served much more efficiently

Booked table in the courtyard that was now covered but very pretty so glad we hadn’t stayed inside in the main restaurant very busy slightly Covid scared

The bill was correct but felt the £25 service charge although was not compulsory was a bit of a shock on such a large bill approx £50 per head

Still one of my favourite restaurants in oxford just need to be a treat now !!

Excellent food and service and wonderful festive atmosphere. Having a live pianist was such a bonus - she played jazz and Christmas classics. Lovely!

Went here for an al fresco lunch and was really surprised at how lovely it was. Weather was miserable, but in the covered terrace area, it was like an oasis. Beautifully decorated with festive cheer and such pleasant staff. A real find and will continue to come here long after covid is a distance memory.

I think Quod is the perfect place to eat at Christmas - it was so pretty! The staff made us very welcome and comfortable; even though covid restrictions were in place it felt like a normal dining experience. High praise in these times!

Experience at Quod was very pleasant. Tranquile and cozy environment with very nice staff and good food. Would repeat.

Food was great and the service was good. Sat outside and it was a suitable temperature. Staff were very attentive and felt very covid safe.

A family favourite with us which never disappoints

Excellent as it always is. Mogford runs an elegant, highly effective and tight ship. Fresh well sourced ingredients all professionally prepared and beautifully presented.

We’ve been to Quod several times before, but we were disappointed with this recent visit - the food wasn’t as excellent as it has been. We chose the sprout salad, which was literally some chopped salad and a bit of lettuce on a plate - very bland, and also the wood pigeon to start. The pigeon had a good flavour and was just cooked enough.
My partner was not as happy with his main: the Cornish plaice was nicely cooked, but the whole dish was, again, very bland, with some cooked fennel on the side. It would have benefitted hugely from a squeeze of lemon and just a small amount of potato. The tastiest parts of the meal were the wine and the coffee, sadly! Don’t think we’ll be returning in a hurry, which is a shame, as it’s always been a popular lunch spot for us.

food was lovely but rather disappointed by table which was in a busy through fare near the waiters area so didn't feel very special
