   Lovely afternoon tea for 4. The sweet options were delicious and top quality. The teas were exquisite. Savouries were OK, wouldn't say exceptional. They did take note of our booking requests and had prepared selections for our vegetarian guest and cheese-intolerant guest. Service was outstanding. We were well looked after from start to finish.

   Service was awful. Really bad. Staff kept getting orders wrong and they were not busy. Ambience was nice. Lovely decor. Clean. Good breakfast menu. Food was nice. Freshly made and well presented but omelette was watery and soggy as the mushrooms were not done right. Staff tend to disregard allergies or dietary restrictions which is a worry.

   Having been numerous times when Plum and Spilt Milk our party of 3 were disappointed with the now renamed Rails. Food was OK but nothing special. Service was OK, our server was very polite but seemed inexperienced and struggled with English. We asked for a bottle of Malbec with our meal but they only had a part bottle left which was enough for 3 glasses. Half way through our meal we were asked by someone from the kitchen if we wanted a sweet as the kitchen was shutting down. I don't think we will be returning anytime soon.

    Food was great, and the staff were lovely. However, they forgot lots of things (including wine orders and a dessert which never arrived) and the general level of service needed a bit of work. That said, I would go back to eat in a heartbeat.

    Lovely restaurant, love the round tables and banquettes, very comfortable There was quite a lot of noise from the small bar by the restaurant but understandable in the run up to Christmas. A glass of wine and two courses of delicious food for £67 , good value. Great staff, very welcoming. I would recommend.

    Dinner was pleasant with good service. However, I chose to book here at 5pm because the website was showing the Prix Fixe to be available. Having been seated, we learnt it was not so until after New Year so a little disappointing.

    Lovely experience. Staff was so lovely and kind. Food was fantastic. The decor is absolutely stunning. I feel like it is a hidden gem. I definitely recommend and I look forward to going again once they open for dinner in the summer.

    The food and its presentation were excellent and our server explained the selections with enthusiasm. The wine list was manageable and matched the menu well. The room was attractively laid out but could use a little softer lighting. Overall very enjoyable experience.

    We were looking forward to eating at this restaurant. However, there was a large party and therefore the meals suffered. All 3 meals were tepid. Our starter did not even appear. To be fair the drinks were taken off the bill but I would rather have paid full price and had a good meal.

    Made a reservation for lunch, but when we arrived we were told that it was for afternoon tea, who has afternoon tea at 13.30. We did have it as there was a £50.00 non refundable deposit. The food was very good, service excellent, but would not recommend.

    Great restaurant, inside Great Northern Hotel (opposite St Pancras/kings cross station). Staff looked a bit overwhelmed, but tried really hard to keep customers happy. The steak was cooked to order and tasty, dessert was absolutely delicious (lava cake). If you are in the area, check out this place.

    A brilliantly located restaurant in the heart of Kings Cross and almost hidden away so that it felt a bit like a secret society! Inside it is spacious, contemporary and the foo is superb. Service was a little hit and miss - we asked for bread, i never came, we waited a while to order drinks - but I think that's resource rather than attitude. The waiting staff were extremely charming and hospitable. I would definitely visit again.

    I made this booking for november back in july while the restaurant was still plum and spilt milk. We were expecting a full lunch menu so were very disappointed to find on arrival that it was afternoon tea only. The last time we came it was a vibrant and busy place. This time we were the only 4 people in the place. The food was poor. Hardly any savoury items (and they were stale) with far too many cakes. The service was slow and not very attentive and the price very expensive for what we received.

    The restaurant was beautifully decorated in a traditional warm manner, which helped provide a welcoming atmosphere. The service was friendly, yet professional (although my warm up cocktail came after my wine and starter). The food was fresh and deliciously prepared. I could not manage desert, but the wine menu was vast and stocked quality drinks - so overall a fabulous experience.

    Well meaning polite staff but poorly trained for the standard that Rails claims to be, consequently expensive. Having dined at Plum & Split Milk often we were disappointed.

    Unfortunately the newly-launched ‘Rails’ (of what was the lovely Plum and Spilt Milk) didn’t hit the mark. The service was excellent, but there were only a couple of tables occupied so the atmosphere wasn’t very lively (it used to be busy with a great atmosphere). All the signage still refers to Plum and Spilt Milk (confusingly). To the food; this is where it fell down and I had to complain (in a nice way). The trout starter was full of small bones so I couldn’t eat it after pulling the third small bone from my teeth. The usual bread and accompaniments were only offered as an after-thought. My main meal, the pork chop, was way too tough and overcooked yet the fat wasn’t rendered. I couldn’t eat it. This could be because I informed them if my severe beef allergy, which they dealt with extremely well and cooked my chop separately. However, being overcooked meant I didn’t eat the main. So with drinks and sides, £460 for lunch for 2, for food I didn’t eat, is very expensive. Coupled with the lack of atmosphere and confusing sign-posting, we unfortunately won’t be going back. Which is a shame because the Plum and Spilt Milk used to be a go-to for meetings and special occasions. Maybe things might improve when the restaurant has time to develop. Again, the staff were excellent. Particularly Christine who looked after us - thank you. However, we won’t be back, sorry.
