Rare Steakhouse - Washington DC
Great service amazing food. Steak cooked perfect
This will be my first review on OpenTable. I dined at this establishment on September 16. The noise level was such that my colleague and I could not hear each other . When we inquired if we could move, the waiter advised that moving would not help as the restaurant was very loud.
My Tiger Shrimp cocktail was not fresh. My colleague ordered a Cesar Salad with extra Anchovies- when it came,, there were no anchovies and no croutons. We iWe both ordered the 22 ounce bone in ribeye, Dray just locally. How are the waiter recommended that we order a piece of steak that was not on the menu but of similar quality to what we had ordered. So we ordered the The $135 steak to split between the two of us. The The steak was very disappointing. The steak was terrible, as it had no flavor. I took only two bites and put my fork down. I asked for the check and when the waiter presented it he could see that we had only taken a few bites, yet never asked if there was something wrong with the steak.
.on the East Coast on a business trip and hosted a colleague of mine at this establishment on Wednesday evening, September blank. And I hope so if I was at the recommendation of our server, we ordered a steak from the at the highest categoryincluding reviews on yelp. How are my recent experience with rare steakhouse in Washington DC has prompted me to change that style practice. I was on business on a business trip in Washington DC and hosted a colleague of mine in the hopes that we would dinejust isn’t my style to write reviews for any establhment. However, I need to take the time to express my utter disappointment at the food that we had at the capital rare capital steakhouse in Washington DC. A colleague of mine join me for dinner
Dear Anonymous - First, thank you for the feedback. While it's clearly not what we like to hear, it's important that we do. Second, it seems like we missed the mark when you were in on Monday and for that I apologize. We are proud of the high marks we've earned-much of those marks are based on our in-house butchering and dry-again program as well as the freshest seafood available. I am going to send you my email in the hopes that we might host you again so we can show you who we really are. drew
If you are staying in DC for three nights eat here, if your staying for four nights try somewhere else for one of those nights, but you will regret it.
The steaks are great, really flavoursome and the carrots with pistachios are fantastic. The Muga Rioja was a great recommendation.
Allison the Captain and Drew are great hosts.
Birthday dinner for son. All delicious. Great wine recommendation. Beautiful dessert of table side prepared Bananas Foster
Such a great experience and the tone for the night was really nice. There was attentive staff and an amazing selection from the menu. The dinning experience was something that left a mark of recognition and a great memory along with the delicious meal we had. We had a great dining experience
The service was phenomenal. Our server Dino was an absolute perfect 10. He had stellar recommendations and was on top of every inch of the meal. Highly recommended.
Service was excellent. Food was very good and ambiance was casually nice for a steak restaurant. Would definitely come back.
First time dining there. It is loud because of the bar area.
All the food was incredibly salty. My steak was almost inedible (without any sauce added) and I kept going to my sides to offset it only to find them super salty as well.
Shame to ruin what would otherwise have been a great cut of meat that was cooked exactly as it should have been.
Awesome dinner to celebrate my sons birthday. Everything was perfect food and service. Karen our server was amazing she recommended items from the menu that were delicious
Awesome food and service! Dine with family visiting and everyone rared about their meal. We had steak of course, seasoned well and cooked perfect to request and my favorite the Branzino and although we tried several side dishes, the oven baked or deep fried mash potato balls (not greasy and tasty) was a perfect side for my fish. You won't be disappointed. Upscale dining with a very relaxed atmosphere. Sorry to add that we enjoyed our stay so much, that we forgot the time and was the last diners to leave... Apologizes to the staff waiting on us and thanks for another great dining experience!
A classic steakhouse experience with excellent food and first class service.
Food was very salty in multiple course making it difficult to finish. Lobster was not as done as it should be
The food is excellent and I realize the cuts of beef are beyond compare; however, this restaurant is extremely expensive — in our case, $100.00 per person. At these prices, I expect an ambience that is simply beautiful. The restaurant has a feel of prohibition/Frank Sinatra — which I like, but it’s too casual for the cost. Also, they need to work on music that matches the theme.
We thought the waitress was overbearing and condescending until we realized my husband had his shirt on inside-out. At that point, we laughed until we almost choked on their delicious food.
If this restaurant would broaden the menu, fix a couple of atmospheric details, and decrease prices, I would recommend it, but right now, in my view, they need to improve.
picked，miss leading， excessive consumption👎👎👎
Great dinner and service. It was a great night for a birthday celebration.
Everything was excellent
Phenomenal food and fantastic service make it worth the price!
amazing meal from start to finish appetizer main entrée and dessert
Wonderful spot in the heart of downtown. Tried this spot during Restaurant Week and was impressed by the prompt service, amazing food, and ambiance. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a nice night out on the town.
The Steakhouse was great. We got in 10 minutes after our reservation ( I had called to tell them we'd be a little late) and they still accommodated us just fine. Our waiter, was nice but we did have to wait a little longer than usual for appetizers and dessert. We were excited to get the Banana's Foster but after waiting almost 20 minutes (again) we just asked for the check and cheesecake to go instead. The Manager was very apologetic, and was kind enough to take a meal off our bill. He honestly didn't have to, we've worked in Customer Service before so we get it. But it was very nice and appreciative of him.
We will definitely be back soon. And the cheesecake was wonderful as well.
Very nice food. I love this place, but that day, it’s a little bit busy. So, the service was quite slow.
Stopped by during restaurant week. Great service, delicious food, highly recommend!
Allison was our server and she did a great job of answering our questions, making recommendations, and providing first class service. And all in a friendly and courteous way. Great steak and sides too. Will definitely come back next time we're in town.
Very nice. Excellent service. Didn't like the corn pudding or key lime pie.
Went for restaurant week - great value! Wonderful time.
My friend and I went for Restaurant Week. The bottleneck steak was divine so juicy as was the charred tomato soup. The salted choco nut cookie is literally all the best things a out life !!!! The real draw here though is the service our sever Karen was delightful and personable she made the experience excellent!!! I will definitely be coming back! Oh and the rosemary sparkler is a great mocktail!
Visited this place for the first time and I’m so glad I did. Their restaurant menu is beating out most of the restaurants in the area by offering items of value. The rib cap, corn pudding and banana foster were all so divine.
It was perfect best drinks and food
Service, drinks, food all impeccable. The only reason I would not give five stars is there was a family with a young child who cried, screamed, ran around the table and basically took away from the experience of spending over $200 on a meal for two. Not our servers fault, but there was a manager walking around who should have said something to the parents. Otherwise, definitely recommend dining at Rare Steakhouse.
Went with colleagues and the food was marvelous. Great service and ambiance.
Great portions. Appetizers were tasty and steak delicious. Service was slow maybe because of Resturant week. Will definitively go back.
Oh my stars, the food here was absolutely incredible! 3-days later and I'm still raving about it!
Excellent food, absolutely phenomenal. Definitely recommend!
I came here during lunch time and the restaurant wasn't super busy. The atmosphere was inviting starting from the hostess, waiters and other staff. Here's what I ordered: to start i had spinach, baby kale and Lola Rosa Salad which was excellent and for main course i had bottleneck steak with grilled broccolini, horseradish potato dauphine and dry-aged beef jus. The steak was not just only tasty but also juicy, perfectly cooked in medium rare. I forgot to mention that they gave us garlic parm roll and it was the best pre-meal bread ever. This time, my tummy was super happy. By the way, our waitress, Brittney, was super nice and attentive. I definitely will come back soon.
We went here for Restaurant week and it was good - not great. It was a great value though for 3 course at $22. I had the salad and the other person had the tomato soup. The tomato soup was better. The bottleneck steak was flavorful and the au jus was a tasty addition. I didn't really care for the sides it came with but that's just a matter of taste - there was nothing wrong with the preparation etc. The cinnamon roll was the best part of the meal! It was so fresh and delicious. We had an early reservation so the staff was overly attentive (rare to say that) but there was someone constantly at the table wanting to clear plates immediately -when we were still eating - it was annoying. Overall, good experience.
Excellent Excellent Excellent 🍽️🍸🍷
The food and service were both excellent!
