Red Fox Inn

The service was really exceptional. The food was delicious and not what you find at every other restaurant. We headed down to the bar afterwards, which was a fun option, and the guitarist was creative and talented. Great night!
Great restaurant, great food, great service, great atmosphere. A local jewel.
Food and drink were excellent. All the ingredients were very fresh. Decor very quaint.
Service was pokey and food was tasty but portions small. Wines by the glass selection was weak. Ambience super charming and our waiter was very nice but service is slow.
Room was so drafty and cold. We were there early but couldn’t get a table in front of fire because they save for their regulars. Menu online is not consistent with what they offer. One server for the entire dining room and it took well over 45 minutes for food
We're sorry you weren't able to get a table in front of the fire. we do not save them for regulars, people reserve them in advance. Our restaurant is a 150 year old barn, which can be cold at times, especially during the very cold temperatures we've had this winter. We have a team of servers. A 45 minute wait time is actually normal for entrees, as we prepare everything from scratch, nothing is pre cooked. If you are looking for fast food, we suggest you go somewhere else.
Fantastic food and ambiance
Very accommodating Sat near the fire wondrrful
It being Vermont, I did not pay attention to prices as I thought we were eating at the tavern. There are two dining areas, the tavern downstairs and the dining hall upstairs- and it is an “upstairs downstairs” price difference. Food upstairs is as expensive if not more so than many finer restaurants in NY City. So beware. Having said that, the food and service were terrific. There were also a lot of kids (it being vacation week for many schools, that should be expected)- making it a bit louder and more rambunctious than might be expected for a menu this pricey. All in all, if you are prepared for NYC prices in rural VT, and are looking for a tasty meal, the Red Fox Inn (upstairs) delivers.
The Red Fox Inn is mine and my husbands favorite restaurant. Food is wonderful, ambiance is cozy and romantic. We always go for Valentine's weekend.
Valentines Day with my wife of 39 years.
Funky, cozy. Tavern good for a burger and such. Fox tails (chicken tenders) a nice choice. Solid but not extensive draft beer list. Upstairs dining room looks spectacular. Didn't sample menu. Old bar setting out of central casting for rustic Vermont set.
A must for old country meets warm and cozy apres ski cocktails and then move upstairs for a great meal amazing service and the best apple pie you can find!
Great find in Stratton VT. Highly recommend if looking for an upscale meal in a beautiful rustic setting.
Wonderful, our guests were thrilled. Thank you for all you do.
Staff was sparse unprepared overwhelmed and unprofessional .
Management was rude and obviously lacking in any true culinary expertise.
Red Fox Inn was a great experience. The bar downstairs is rustic and charming. The upstairs is upscale rustic in an old barn. White table cloth with delicious food. I would highly recommend!!
For a solid dinner near Stratton without a far drive this is a really good find. Kid friendly, lovely wait staff, and mountain authentic ambiance.
Waitstaff seemed unfamiliar w/menu items - for example did not know what cheeses were on charcuterie board, nor were they familiar with the two spreads - a grain mustard and cherry preserves.
Also we ordered appetizers - a salad and the charcuterie board, and frankly before they were finished, our dinner entrees arrived.
Also, while I never expect prime rib to be “hot”, I do expect it to be seasoned properly (it was not) and that the potatoes be more than “tepid”.
Two words. Apple Pie!
The upstairs menu is very overpriced for what you get. If you are bringing kids you should reconsider as the kid menu options are $15 for chicken fingers or pizza.
It was very windy and I think the wind caused the fireplace to not vent out the smoke. The smell was kind of strong and our clothes smelled of smoke. However, the meal was excellent!!
Delicious leisurely meal in the charming rustic upstairs dining room
I had the best roast duck I have ever had. It was meaty, tender and truly delicious. My husband and friends all loved their meals too. We had ravioli appetizers which were luscious. Two had scallop entrees that they enjoyed and one had halibut that was exquisite. Don’t miss the apple pie a la mode!
Amazing !!
Love this place, good food and atmosphere! Unfortunately, on the night I am reviewing Open Table confirmed my reservation for 3 people at 7:30 pm. When we got to the Inn it was closed for the season! Open Table and Red Fox Inn have a glitch to fix.
the food is very good and we love the ambiance. I just wish they would get their service under control. Service is always a problem when we go. Wait forever to get a drink and food.
Lovely dining room with large stone fireplace. Very fitting for a Vermont Inn.
The food was not as good as we had expected. It was also a bit on the pricey side.
Our grandson was disappointed that the kid’s menu didn’t include a hamburger.
Nice selection of beer and wine.
