Red Rock Trattoria - Waterton Glacier Suites
This was a fantastic little restaurant. Our server was great (can't remember her name) but she made sure we were well taken care of. Food was delicious!
Fabulous meal. When I heard there were only 2 restaurants open, I figured my options were take it or leave it lol. What I didn't expect was a 5-star meal. The shrimp starter has an incredible tomato sauce with a nice little kick to it. Prawns were perfectly cooked. Although I was eyeing the wild mushrooms tortellini, I heard the waitress tell another table to save room for the cannoli, so I opted for the pear and fennel salad, and did just that. The cannoli were perfectly crisp the white chocolate & orange mousse was light and fluffy. My only minor grumble was that I got no hit of orange. I'm a citrus girl and was really looking forward to that. But, honestly, it was trivial. They were still delicious, and not too filling. The Italian blend is a really nice white wine, and paired perfectly with everything. I was traveling alone, but wasn't rushed. Service was excellent.
Great food, with great service. The dining area was spacious.
Dining out is a challenge during this Covid19 time. We felt very safe as all protocols were being observed. The special was Lamb, and I can never pass up lamb!! The tiramisu dessert portion was very generous, even for two.
Reservation was on time, no waiting needed.
Small dining room with tables spaced nicely.
Had shrimp appy, was very good
Wife had the arugula salad as an appy, Was just ok with way too much pancetta and capers, little bit of pear and light on dressing.
Main courses, bison lasagna was good. Salmon with seafood pasta was ok, but also way too many capers in this dish and sauce was underwhelming.
Bottle of wine replaced the need for dessert.
Looking at others in the room, if we were to go back I would consider just ordering appies and a bottle of wine. The cauliflower and calamari looked good.
Service was attentive and knowledgeable.
Prices up there and expected, because it is Waterton inflation.
Great place and welcome addition to Waterton. Good physical distance
Nico did an incredible job considering he was the only staff serving tables! Well done!
Service was very slow, and main course was a great dish, although not at all like it was described. Was over 20 minutes before a drink order was taken & another hour before dinner arrived.
Need to have a reservation to ensure timely dining experience
Prawns were amazing pared with the pear salad. Would highly recommend dining there
Even though the restaurant opened at 5:00 and we had a reservation for 5:30 they were out of the meal we ordered and did not notify us for 30 minutes so dinner took much longer than expected. The food we ended up having was absolutely delicious and I would recommend asking for their gnocchi as a replacement for any other accompanying pasta dish that is listed as it is marvellous and the sauce is to die for. Don’t be diet conscious here. Their calamarari although spicy is the best I’ve ever had and would highly recommend it. We were delayed but thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I’d go back gladly
There wasn’t much open in Waterton when we visited so we took a reservation at a very early hour for us and almost cancelled....sure pleased that we went because this place is a gem! We started with a pear salad that was perfectly complimented with just the right amount of red wine vinaigrette, blue cheese and a few figs....great beginnings and our mains did not disappoint. Salmon with tagliatelle vongole for me and a veal chop with gnocchi for my husband. He really enjoyed the tenderness of the veal and the tastiness of the sauce. I was impressed with the perfectly cooked salmon and the tastiness of the accompanying pasta. Jada, our server, was attentive and seemed to be careful of the vivid precautions in place. With a tiramisu to polish off the experience, we left very satisfied.
Undoubtedly the best restaurant in Waterton. The chef not only takes pride in his work but has the ability to put flavours together that really work. We have had every item on the menu and not one disappoints.
It was an enjoyable evening. Beautiful setting. Great service.
Long wait to be seated, good food, understaffed as waitress from another restaurant had to help out.
We love Trattoria! Lovely decor and fresh and tasty Italian cuisine. The calamari and the roasted cauliflower are standouts, and for caper lovers, there are lots in these dishes! The selection of pasta dishes is creative and varied and spicy or mild. We had a nice variation of clams linguini with lovely fresh clams and roasted peppers. The service was attentive and prompt. The wine list is reasonable and well selected.
Trattoria is a little jewel of a restaurant in wonderful Waterton Park. And, you can reserve a table on Open Table. Yea for that!
The restaurant has no ambiance. It is very plain. The food is ok but too expensively priced and it's not worth the price you pay. The front desk agent of the hotel is also the server and the hostess is the same person so we had to wait a while for service.
-we were staying in the hotel, and tried out their restaurant for dinner ..a birthday occasion. The dining area is small, so not noisy, with some tables likely removed for covid 19 purposes . Staff wore masks ..only one seen with one on anywhere in the village.
-menu is good but with limited choices (season just opening slowly ..few facilities open in park and town still)..ie same 1/2 doz options there the next day.
-food was good and tasty, and nicely prepared/presented. My meat entree was a bit expensive , and seemed smaller than quoted , but tasty. We would eat there again.
The wife and I had a lovely meal at our 50th anniversary. The service was great and the server was a very nice young man and the met all our needs. I recommend it and we'll be back for another radio experience.
