Reid's Cafe and Catering
Always good. The place to be for farm to table food in our part of the Mountains. You are just silly not to try the place out. Menu is always interesting, service is great, and the prep is awesome. We love Reid's.
Our favorite place in Banner Elk! Food is always delicious!
4th visit this winter season. Menu has changed, which was planned by the owner. Tried new things (Pasta w/ Pheasant, Endive Salad) and all were unique and flavorful. I’ll be back for the trout soon.
4 stars b/c of two items: (1) I love the rotating cheese board, but you may want to add a description to the menu, or bring out a card with the board itself. Once the waitress has moved on you find yourself trying to remember what she said. (2) The wait staff was great, but I think they were under staffed for a Saturday evening.
If you’re a foodie, this is the place for you in the High Country. I will definitely be back.
Very small portion size.
Cocktails were forgot from the order.
Expensive but food quality is good.
Perfect valentines evening
It’s always good! Love to soup and salads as original and of course home made!
Great food but really cold at our near the front door table. Poor selection of dinner music. Will definitely be back
Wonderful food and great service! Would definitely return.
As I mentioned to the manager, the beet and chèvre salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. Hopefully it will be a repeat performer on the menu at various times during the year. I also had the Bronzino and had it grilled. Delicious.
Wonderful experience! Great food, ambiance, OYSTERS, and SERVICE. A local GEM!
Amazing cafe! Top notch in all categories!
Adore Reid’s!! Always seek out time to enjoy this cozy, delicious spot!
We have eaten here many times. The food is amazing. I had purple sweet potato soup and a beet salad. My husband had a bison sloppy joe. If you are a foodie this place is for you!
One of our favorite restaurants for lunch and dinner. The food quality and service is excellent; the ambiance is great and we are never disappointed. The locally sourced food the Owner uses and the unique menu make it a wonderful experience every time!!!!
I love this restaurant!
Reid’s never disappoints. I had the seasonal vegetables. My son had the pheasant. He said the pheasant was one of the best meals he has had in a restaurant. For reference, we have eaten in foreign countries and top restaurants in NC. My husband had veal and pork bolognese on the house made pasta. All dishes were perfection. Service is always spot on! We enjoy the fresh ingredients, the ever-changing menu, the attention to detail by the chef and the impeccable service.
Very nice! Highly recommend!
Another fabulous Reid’s meal ! Thrilled to have rabbit! It melts in your mouth.... so tender and delicious! I’m going back tonight!!
We had a great meal, delicious Denver steak and rabbit. Our server was awesome, helpful with wine selections. We will be back!!
Unique menu options which were outstanding! Great place to eat. Highly recommend.
Pheasant that was served with country captain dish was cold. Pork chop was awesome.
Service was great, food was delicious, only sad thing: they had run out of the soup we wanted.
Best kept secret, so shhhh, don’t tell anyone.😜
The dinner menu options can compete with any high end restaurants in the high country and you don’t have to wait an hour (with a reservation, hint hint BR). Also, you don’t have to wait two months to get a reservation (Art.). It’s an easy drive in inclement weather (GK). Yeah, I just compared it to 3 top of the line restaurants in the high country. That’s why we have to keep it a secret.
Dinner for two followed a busy day, and this was just what we needed. Our server was attentive with perfect timing throughout our visit. The food was inventive, seasonal, hot, attractive, and delicious. Serving sizes were appropriate. The wine list is not long, but seems well-curated, as the bottle we chose was true to its varietal and of good quality.
The only negative I have is that with the front door going directly to the outside, every time it opened we got a gust of cool, damp air. We were seated more than halfway back toward the bar, so this must be quite a distraction in the winter months. An air curtain or entryway enclosure would help a lot.
Creative dishes that tend to be healthy with great flavor! We dine frequently here !
My favorite place in the High Country. Never disappoints.
Went for a girls night out- always exceeds expectations
Great good , great service
Great food, service and value... could use be a little more comfortable seating- especially the bar stools
First of all, I think the only important review statement is, "Would you go back?" Answer is yes. But I think this place could greatly improve. Comfort: The hard metal chairs are, hard. After a couple of hours your rear-end is sore. Service: A bit amateurish. Serve the starters before you bring out the entrees. Not the other way around. Food: Pompano dries out quickly and it should have the skin either removed in the kitchen or served with the skin side down. It's not really a lovely looking item. Table setting: the bowls (not flat plates but curved bowls) may be trendy but they're difficult. You can not place your knife across the bowl without it sliding down into the bowl or off onto the table. It's a manners-thing. But would use one utensil at a time. Knife, fork, etc. Put one down, pick the other up. Get flat plates, dump the soup bowls. But, as I said, I would return. It's not as good as the Gamekeeper but it's a good backup.
One of our favorite places! Never disappoints
Every aspect of our meal was amazing. The presentation and composition of the cheese board was a great way to start. The lobster cream sauce on the trout, was truly amazing. The handmade pasta/stroganoff special with beef tenderloin and Oyster mushrooms was unique and wonderful, and both the chocolate torte and the ice cream trio were absolutely marvelous. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly; the decor is unique and inviting. They could stand to turn the music down a bit, but otherwise... 9.9/10 We will definitely be back.
Fried fish was over cooked; lamb was “fatty”, soup was very good; salad excellent. The menu items were very limited.
Have been to Reid’s 11 times this season and the last 2 times were very disappointing No plans to return. Hope it is better next year
Outstanding food prepared by Sean: broiled oysters that tasted ocean fresh and rack of lamb perfectly cooked and tender as a mother’s love. Excellent sides of potatoes and onions. Nice selection of wines, beer and craft cocktails. Splendid service by Jen! I had not been in over a year to Reid’s and boy has it changed. Large airy dining room that more than doubles the old space?
We have been to Reid’s several times and have had good experiences in the past. This evening was not great. The oysters and beratta & tomato salad were both delicious. I think I order the wrong thing because my rabbit was so dry I could hardly get small bites down my throat. It was not warm and I think it may have been warmed over from the day before. Steve’s pork was very good, he said. The service was prompt and responsive. I will return but it may be a while!
Menu did not seem as diverse as usual
First time not having a five star experience. Good was good. Service was a bit slow, sat twenty minutes before a cocktail showed up.
I am not put off , however, still my favorite restaurant
Fabolous food a wonderful waitress. Enjoyed it but lights were on full blast and decor was much more sandwich shop than the fine food deserved. Our guest was a vegetarian and said it was the best dish she might ever have had.
Cobia was tough and not good. Rest of food good but we both had upset stomach next day and that n
One of my favorite places to eat. Super local, super fresh, beautiful ingredients. The service is impeccable. I will come back again and again.
