Relish Cafe is a very casual, comfortable spot. While the ambiance is not upscale, the food and service delivered were absolutely top notch. Dishes are of Asian influence and, on our visit, we sampled Dumplings, General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp and Grits, Calamari, and Bang Bang Shrimp. We also had a very good bottle of Rioja for $24. The value is great. What keeps it from being 5 stars overall is the ambiance. Recommend giving it a try.
Best Asian food on Hilton Head. I had the Yaki Udon noodles with chicken which was fantastic. My wife had the Mongolian beef which was also marvelous.
We will definitely be returning to this restaurant
Very good food, not much ambiance but nice experience.
Interesting menu. Diverse choices. Excellent quality.
The food is always good and the staff is always lovely.
A great find in Hilton Head.
Varied menu with many authentic Asian dishes.
Very small place, owner chef always there and very friendly, always willing to discuss the food.
Mongolian Beef one of my favorite meals on island
Triple Berry Bread Pudding is to die for!!!😋👍
Pretty underwhelming overall. They were out of pho, their big signature item. On a Monday. Really? And broth for the ramen was sparse. In short there are many other places on HHI that offer high quality food. Like next door at Charbar and a Whiskey Room
We had a great evening and to start with the Calamari was possible the best we have had. All three of us could not believe how great it was. The dumplings were also quite good.
The 3 different meals continued raising the food scale to a higher level. The service was very good and we will definitely be back soon since we are owners on the Island we
Always a great meal! Wish I could eat here every night.
Outstanding Asian food!! We really enjoy this restaurant and go out of our way to eat there. Staff is very kind and helpful. Food is terrific!!
The food took a little while, but it was soooooo good that it didn’t matter. We enjoyed it very much.
Consistently great food. Love the mix of Low Country and Asian. We eat here multiple times during our HHI vacations.
Great clean, fresh food with distinctive flavors! Chef and staff are at the top of their games. Love this restaurant, a ten in every way!👍👍👍👍👍
It was like eating mall food court Chinese but really expensive. Hole in the wall place with no ambiance. Portions were really small. Shrimp and grits like paste and general chicken over cooked. Noodle dishes super bland and nothing we ordered had any flavor. Watched a family of three stand at the host stand several minutes before finally leaving because no one even spoke to them.
Great little out of the way place. Delicious Asian menu & seafood/southern menu. They were busy, but we were still well taken care of & food arrived promptly.
Small place that promotes Asian Fusion with a Southern flair. It really isn't anything like that description. Service was non-existent. There were 4 occupied tables when we walked in. Took them 20 minutes to take our order. We waited an hour and 10 minutes for our meals to arrive. Appetizers and main course just dumped on our table all at once. The funniest thing about it is this is a small place- only about 8 or 10 tables and our server was just standing at the counter and talking with the other server. I would have ordered more drinks but the server never came to our table.
The food was nothing to go out of your way to eat. My wife and I ordered Ramen Bowls and we're largely disappointed, including including severely overcooked poached eggs that were to hard to eat. My wife didn't even eat hers.
All of these things happen at restaurants and they can be softened with a good server, but it was the blase' reaction from the server that will have us never return. In a nutshell, mediocre food and terrible service.
Amazing food and service!
Great food and staff was extremely helpful.
This was our first trip to Hilton Head and had a hard time finding food that wasn’t greasy bar food or sandwiches. We found Relish and loved it so much we ate there twice! The Pad Thai,Miso Ramen,Mongolian beef, and fried green tomatoes were delicious! Interesting menu! Great friendly service!
We have never had a bad meal here! On the contrary, the food is always outstanding from this talented chef! In addition, the service is very personable, and we always enjoy getting to know the team there, as they are from very interesting and engaging places, cultures, and life experiences. This hidden gem should not be missed!
Good food! Waited a bit for food!
Basic decor with good food and simple service that’s well priced. Stick with the Asian dishes for best flavor. Excellent pho - light, tasty broth and a good-sized portion. The rare beef version is quite good.
We tried Relish because the menu looked great and it had good reviews. When we arrived ,I was surprised because there were not many people inside and we almost left. I am so glad we stayed. Not only was the service friendly and on-point, the food was excellent. We tried the pork dumplings and pork pao for appetizers and they were both great. The Mongolian beef was probably the best I have ever had and the southern boil was good at a very reasonable price. Our kids had the spring rolls and pad Thai which they liked so much that they refused to share. My only regret is that we went at the end of our vacation and did not have an opportunity to return. We will make this one of our first stops on our next trip to Hilton Head.
If you are looking to eat Asian food, Relish is the best place to go in Hilton Head. The food is expertly prepared and the prices are low. If anyone in your group doesn’t want Asian food, no problem as there is a southern/ comfort food menu also.
What lacks in atmosphere & service is made up for by the food. An eclectic mix of Southern & Asian that is actually pulled off quite well. It was awkward when we walked in and there was only one table of customers and no one at the front to check us in. I would call service nice - the servers were nice - but seemed a bit disorganized. We sat outside and were able to listen to the music over at CharBar. Go there for the food not the atmosphere and you won't be disappointed.
Great alternative to burgers. Tasty food and nice relaxed atmosphere with very good service to all customers. Outside seating too!
Great little place for Asian treats
It was a quiet Monday night - perfect. We came straight from golf, had the local brewery beer - refreshing, citrus, mango - just what we needed.
We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp - light batter, slightly sweet sauce with just the right amount of heat behind it. Good starter for two. I had the Pho with shrimp, while J had the green curry with shrimp. The pho came in a serving sized bowl filled with a beef broth that was richly light with deep salty umami warmth. The shrimp were plump and fresh which complimented the extra add in if cilantro, lime and jalapeño to taste.
The green curry sauce was light, with heat developing in the bite, but not overwhelming it.
Our server, I’m sorry to have not gotten her name, was funny, informative and helpful.
A great end of a beach and golf day. We’ll be back!
(The photo of the empty leaf? Yeah...that was the Bang Bang shrimp 💁🏻♀️
We recommend Relish to friends and neighbors all the time! In our opinion it's one of the best restaurants on Hilton Head Island! We love the cozy environment, the staff is amazing, and the food is unbeatable! We haven't had anything on the menu that is below superb! Thank you Di, Caroline, Emily and staff! We love you all!
Weather was perfect for outdoor dining. The waitress was delightful. As we were talking a lot, she had to come back several times to get our order. Each time she was patient and polite. The menu is quirky. Some Southern, think shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes, and Asian. Pad Thai and Udon noodles for example.
Ambiance and decor is non-existent. The food is very good and unusual, the service is great and the place is alway very accomodating. My wife has celiac disease and they always find a way.
Food was absolutely fantastic. Glad we had reservations because it isn’t a very large restaurant. Our server was very sweet but she was the only person working up front. We felt bad for her because she was very overwhelmed. It did take over 45 minutes for us to get our food, but we didn’t mind because it was worth the wait. Would definitely go back again the next time we’re in Hilton Head.
Unique restaurant on HHI. A must try.
Started off with Fried Calamari which was cut so thin that you hardly knew there was anything in the batter. Might as well be eating fried Tempura batter. Sauce served with it was good. Also had Bam Bam Shrimp which was great. Shrimp nice size and sauce very good. Meals of General Tso's Chicken and Mongolian Beef were average. For desert we had Fried Ice Cream which was a big disappointment. Tasted like it was wrapped in thick cookie dough and the dough was not fully cooked. Service was very good and Cafe is clean though small.
This is our third visit here. We love the unusual menu, and typically order something Asian. This time we tried the dumplings, pho and green curry. The dumplings were great. The pho and green curry were a bit disappointing. Our friends also had asian food and were quite pleased with theirs. Emily waited on us. She has a great personality and tries hard, but she was busy and forgot things routinely. Since we loved our first two visits and can be patient about service, we'll be back, and will try more menu items. I encourage others to give this little gem a try.
Food is consistently good but the service is consistently slow.
Food was very good. Service was very good. Ambience was just basic. We enjoyed the experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is not too fussy about the decor.
We love Relish and so did our friends! We’ve eaten here for brunch and dinner and have never been disappointed with anything from start to finish.
Have eaten here before. Very casual, but the food is very good.
