Restaurant at Samlesbury Hall
My food was lovely. My mum’s lamb was tough but otherwise good. Service was friendly but hectic. The restaurant has one doorway out. Staff, whilst friendly, appear to head to the exit, head down and don’t want to make eye contact. Many people were waiting for service. After being seated we weren’t attended to for some time. I had to pop out of the restaurant to ask for service but it was friendly. Food and drinks service was then speedy but again had to request service to ask for desserts. And finally had to ask for the bill three times and again go to reception to eventually get the bill. Staff just seem inexperienced and with a little training to look around the restaurant when they’re busy n there and not to just “rush for the doorway” this place could be perfect. Excellent value for a Sunday lunch and great puddings.
Unusual to have family with us on a birthday, so, it was a special treat to have a lovely meal out together. (Excellent menu). Only criticism is that the dining room felt very cold (it was a particularly bad rainy day). A staff member started to light the fire just as we were leaving.
Disappointed with service. When giving menu order was given choice of brown or white baguette and when it came was on white.when queried was told it only comes on white! Apparently your till offers white or brown but kitchen doesn't
Really nice breakfast and great service. Would definitely return
Lovely meal with friend and her children. Children’s menu was appropriate and appreciated with the main menu having a good choice.
Visited for lunch on a weekday with a friend. Restaurant was busy. Had a long wait for our order to arrive but the food was delicious when it finally arrived. Ordered coffees. After 20 mins we asked the waiter what had happened to them. He was very gracious and apologised. He quickly brought us our coffees and didn't put them on our bill. None of this spoiled our lunch outing. Had we been in a hurry it would have been different. A lovely venue but they need to look at the heating. We were next to a radiator but the room was on the chilly side.
Excellent Sunday lunch. Fairly priced. Would definitely go back.
Beautiful food, both for adults and children. We had a sunday roast and it was honestly the best I've had in a long time!
Had a free tour at 11 followed a fabulous meal. Reasonably priced, great service. Really unexpected as we were expecting it to be like a cafe but food was of very high standard. Will definitely be back.
We booked for 12pm so we'd have plenty of time to eat before the Henry VIII tour at 2pm. All the staff seemed a bit disorganised, from ordering about 12:15pm, we didn't get served till just after 1pm. The room wasn't full either at this point. At no point did anyone ask if our food was ok, which is fact was below the usual standards! We still had dirty plates on our table just before 2pm which only got taken away when we complained and were yet to order desserts. The manager apologised and explained the have a new menu (which there wasn't a lot of choice) and did offer to cut our bill in half. We have had plenty of really good meals here before so were disappointed especially as we were there for a birthday! The waitresses had little enthusiasm.
