Award winning - haddock, clams, shrimp, lobster, potatoes, herbs, cream
Smashed prime beef patty, cooked through, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, butter toasted brioche bun
We go to RiRa every time we are in Portland and we get the fish and chips made with haddock. For years it has been awesome. Last night it was lame. I’m afraid staffing is a concern. For the rest of this long weekend, we will be dining elsewhere.
Hopefully, it will get back to normal.
Our server was terrific. Kitchen sent out wrong dinner but she was on it! Overall great experience!
It was my first visit to Ri Ra. Brunch was good, but we spent most of the time trying to flag down our waitress for things that the table should’ve already been stocked with…spoons to stir our coffee, ketchup, butter etc. The party seated behind us was in search of jelly, jam, spoons, ketchup and we noticed they spent time trying to flag down our waitress as well. Not her fault…the restaurant is obviously short staffed. Lovely view from the second floor. We would definitely eat here again.
Great environment- so cozy with the fireplaces! Food was mah…not exciting at all! We ordered happy hour food but they were out of the snack box and potato cakes. Sausage roll was not good. Curry poutine was good.
We went for new year's brunch upstairs with my mother in law, who enjoys simple fare and a good bloody Mary with horseradish and we were not disappointed on those counts. Pork belly poutine was quite good and the tri-color home fries were a nice touch. Other than that, food was pretty plain and definitely not worth the price, especially given what else Portland's food scene has to offer. Except for the relatively loud neighboring table, and kind of loud rock music (not live), the overall feel and ambience are great: comfy chairs, spacious tables, and airy environment with lots of windows overlooking the harbor. Would recommend to someone looking for a good drink and energetic but casual scene, simple flavors with a hearty meal.
Fantastic atmosphere and even better food.
This place has it all - the service and the food were wonderful, and you can't beat the view. I highly recommend Ri Ra, and look forward to coming back!
We were never seated at a table even with our reservation. We ended up ordering at the bar and even some of the food we wanted was sold out. We were giving some money off on the tab and were apologies were made to us.
Great food and awesome service. I loved all the gluten free options! I will be back soon for sure!
I understand being short staffed and overwhelmed in the kitchen with large party orders, but we had a reservation for 7:30 and didn’t even get seated until close to 8:00. We were a party of 5 sat in the upstairs room in a far back table way too close to other parties during covid times. No one even came to say hello or even offer us water for a solid 45 minutes while they waited on every other table around us except ours… we ended up getting up and leaving before we even had anyone come to our table to take a drink order or offer water. After 50 minutes sitting down. Very very poor experience.
The Shepherds pie was AWESOME!!!
The chocolate layer cake was delicious!!!!!!!
Nice pies, cozy, neighborhood feeling
Out with gluten free/dairy free friends. Good food to met all dietary needs. Great seat upstairs, music was a bit loud. We all enjoyed our very well apportioned meals. Two thoughts…one if someone orders an app for lunch, bring a side plate and two the mixed drinks were a tad light. My mule was pretty watery. I’d stick with beer next time!
This was one of the worst experiences we have ever had.
To start: we were seated at a table with literally NO light at it. Additionally it is situated right at the door to the kitchen. So I sat in near pitch black and each time the service door to the kitchen opened it was like high beams on the high way shining in my face. I had a headaches by the end of the night from the strain my eyes had trying to adjust. We asked the manager if we could get a different table her curt and attitude filled response was “what do you want me to do about it”.
Next: we waited 15 min to get any kind of order in. Then a couple drinks arrive and it’s another 10 before we get our food ordered. It was 45 min before the one app we ordered arrived.
Following: it took 50 min for us to be asked if we needed more drinks.
Next up: 95 min in our food finally arrived. No apology for the long wait or anything. Just shows up. And it doesn’t ALL show up at once. There were 5 of us and 5 plates. But only 4 were ours. The 5th was another table’s app. The final plate arrived a min or so later on it’s own.
Now the food: yeah. Do we know what seasoning is at this establishment? Because not a single bite of food was seasoned properly. There was NO SALT IN ANYTHING. My dish came with gravy to which there was maybe a teaspoon of on the plate. What’s the point.
Last point. The drinks were awful. I ordered their signature maple old fashioned. Was there even any whiskey in the glass?!? The orange peel was replaced by a slice of orange. The expected luxardo cherry was a maraschino. If I’m paying $14 for a house old fashioned it better be worthwhile.
Overall this was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. From horrible attitudes to slow and unresponsive service to awful food. They could have brought me any plate different from what I ordered and I’d have never been able to tell because I couldn’t see past my nose!!!
I will never go here again. I strongly suggest no one else ever does.
Poutine, salads, and chicken bites were super. Nice water views. Excellent date spot.
Covid friendly and very spacious. Included a lit fireplace!
We went to RiRa the day after Christmas. Unfortunately they were out of literally 1/2 of the menu. Normally that would have completely ruined the experience. However, the ambiance was beautiful upstairs and our waitress was kind and apologetic and attentive. We had a lovely evening. I have been here several times and the food does not disappoint.
Excellent food, service and vibes! Looking forward to next visit!
Beautifully decorated for the holidays; delicious fish and chips; scrumptious carrot cake for dessert; nice service; and good harbor view.
We had a delicious dinner at Ri Ra. Our server was efficient and helpful and the food was tasty.
A very good time was had by all. The food was great and so were the prices.
The shepards pie was fabulous. A true lamb pie. Guinness Short rib pie was yummy. The only negative is the music choice that was playing. Would of like Irish or dinner music.
We've eaten there often and have never been disappointed. This last time despite being understaffed and busy the service was great as always and the food was perfect.
Really fun, nice ambiance, and great service. Menu is limited and food was not great. Shepherd’s Pie was a soupy lamb stew with a dollop of mashed potatoes. It tasted ok, but weird presentation and consistency. Lamb burger was burnt on both sides. Still, it was a fun dinner for our large group.
What a lovely place! Beautiful decor, great food, awesome service!
Quant. Comfortable loved the fireplace nice customer service.
My granddaughter and I are gluten free and we loved your fish & chips which we rarely ever get to eat. We went to the nutcracker and made reservations for 4:15pm at Ri Ra. We loved the ambience and the waitress Samantha was great! My granddaughter pointed out that we got our food faster than usual something we are not used to lately. We love having our grand-mother grand-daughter weekends and it is on my grand-daughters fav list for sure! Great job!
Fun! Table was a little small, but otherwise awesome!
Was at Ri Ra for lunch on a Sunday prior to attending "The Nutcracker". Great atmosphere and more importantly, one of the nicest servers ever. She was a true difference maker.
Out with my nephew snd his girlfriend.
Perfect place for dinner on a chilly November night -- fire in the fireplace and a hearty Shepherds pie.
We had a very relaxing lunch upstairs overlooking the water. Our food was wonderful the wait staff was superb and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We never felt rushed or crowded.
It isn't often that we dine with friends and everyone is pleased with their meal choice. Last night RiRa's chefs provided all of us with delicious dinners. Thank you! It makes such a difference in an evening with friends when the meal met everyone's satisfaction. Server was great however the last drink order did not arrive until after we had finished eating. To his credit, his tables were filling up and when he delivered our drinks he had eight other beverages his tray. Only drawback to the evening was heading upstairs and one had to maneuver through a crowded bar scene, to and from dinner. Covid concerns coming to the forefront.
Thank you for continuing to offer a great venue for gathering with friends. You are our favorite place to do just that!
Guinness pie was flavorful and hearty. The crispy chicken sandwich was delicious.
Very friendly & knowledgeable staff. Bartender & Waitress attentive with quick service. Food exceptional.
Seafood chowder was amazing and the rest of the food not far behind. Very busy. Apparently you have to go early for the beef and guiness pie! Service was very good and attentive, even though they were busy.
Excellent meal.. great service
Shepard’s pie and Guiness beef pie are both a 10!!!!!
Was surprised by this place. When you first walk in it feels like a bit of your typical Irish pub - but it was so much more. Two floors. Loved the seating arrangments throughout. Food was spectacular. Service was excellent!
Quiet Sunday night. Great view from window table in upstairs dining room. Food was uneven with salmon being excellent but pub fare just so-so.
