Food was average and overpriced.

Great place, food and cocktails. Only thing I would say is that relax with trying to clear the plates from the table.
Staff were too keen to clear the plates when we were just finishing a dish or wanting to use the remaining dipping sauce.
This is generally a problem in a number of establishments. Just let the people eat and enjoy their dinner slowly. It makes people feel that you are rushing them out.

they had no information about the banquet menu and everyone had different things to say
the place had re opened after a year and i believe they have completely forgotten how to handle customers

Style over substance. Got the $49 Feed Me option and felt underwhelmed and a little ripped off. The entrees started off well, but the mains were mediocre. The massaman curry was bland and had no heat, the meat was nice and tender but lacked flavour, and the potatoes were undercooked. The satay sauce (in name only) was an unappetising paste that we barely touched. Service felt extremely rushed, with staff dumping plates at the table with no explanation when you've barely started the previous course. Our $20 cocktail wasn't very interesting. You'd be better off ordering a la carte, or just going somewhere better. Won't be returning.

Need more peanut sauce on the crackers and chicken ribs were a bit greasy,but otherwise very nice

My friends and I had so much fun whilst we were at Rock Sugar! The food was exceptional, the cocktails were delicious and the atmosphere was lively and fun! I loved how they have an alternative menu for people with food intolerances which I think is so important in this day and age. I loved how the girls were happy to answer any of our questions. Overall, a great re-introduction to dining back out in Melbourne!

Incredible food and drinks. Well looked after from staff, the banquet was exceptional!

My partner had called to be sure we were seated at a ‘nicer’ table as it was our 8 year anniversary but unfortunately when we got there we were placed on the smallest table right infront of the bar. The staff kindly moved us and shouted us with a shot which was really nice. Food was delicious and came out very quickly. Service was great too! The only complaint I would have is that the dumplings were a little dry and the massaman curry tasted just like green curry.. although still very delicious!

We arrived for our booking a little early . Nonetheless they let us seat early. Throughout the night we order different cocktails which were so tasty. We tried the steamed buns which wer amazing - 10/10. We were asked how we were going throughout the night which made us feel cared for. When leaving the restaurant almost all staff, said goodbye. Very friendly staff and will be returning here again for food and drinks.

A long awaited girls night out left feeling rushed & like we were ‘dining’ at a fast food cafe. The service lacked explanation of menu, followed by the meals... which were literally thrown on the table anywhere they could. Then whisked away with no care. So many interruptions from the waiters made our dinner feel edgy & far from relaxed. Unfortunately we didn’t feel the food lived up to the hype neither... compared to other Melbourne same-same restaurants. Cocktails were amazing though...

Lovely staff and cool cocktails but overpriced and average food

Second time I’ve been to rock sugar and I was disappointed. After what we ordered came our waiter came back multiple times to ask if we wanted anything else but then when we finished our drinks they didn’t come back for 30 mins, by then it was too late. Then the portions sizes of the food was tiny for the amount you pay. The only good thing was the 1 cocktail we got to have in the 2 hour seating.

My friend and I sat outdoor and during our seating the roof opened and it provided such a fantastic space. I was worried about our booking if it was to rain - I hadn’t seen many photos of this new updated roof. We sat in the corner and even though there was a table full next to us, we had plenty of room to spread out.
Service was great, your staff are very helpful, making sure food requirements were sorted out and made us feel comfortable. Absolutely love the fairy floss drink, highly recommend the yellow curry - super flavourful!

The food was delicious! Pork belly bao buns are a must. The service was great and very quick. The cocktails are impressive. The bday cake shot looked delicious but was actually tequila which was a bit deceptive. Would definitely go back!

The rice dish I had was burnt and inedible not resembling a poke bowl at all. Not fresh ingredients as pineapple was from a tin.

The food was delicious, presentation was outstanding and the service was impeccable! We had an amazing dining experience, thank you , will definitely book again !

Service was amazing! Waiters took extra care to make sure patrons with food intolerances were comfortable and even suggested other ingredients to be removed from dishes that might affect them. Great food!

An extensive range of amazing cocktails and delicious food

It was a great experience and my husband and I loved the food! I had two of the cocktails and I'm in love. I don't usually finish any cocktails I order when I dine out but in here I had two that I finished! Defs going back for more :)
