Great as always!
Can you bring back the Vodka rigatoni sometime soon??
Some of the most excellent Italian food I've ever had
Great service and food. Appreciated smaller size options on some entrees. Very covid safe.
I was very excited to eat at Roma. I arrived pleasant looking place. Server was nice and I knew what was ordering . I ordered the bologense and the waiter asked me if I wanted. bread.
My food came out , bread two pieces 1st then the pasta. When the pasta arrived I was amazed, there were like 12 pieces of pasta the protein was so small and it was $26,00 . It was good but not very feeling. I quickly got my bill, I noticed they charged me $4.00 for the bread. With a glass of wine my bill was $46.00 + tip = 54.00!
So disappointed. I will never go back!
Great service, atmosphere and food. Pasta was fresh. Drinks were great and dessert was to die fow.
Matt our waiter was awesome. Food was fantastic.
Came for a night out and enjoyed a beautiful evening. The decoration was beautiful and tasteful. The server was attentive and fun. The food was excellent at the price point, almost a steal, but would recommend to anyone looking for a nice night out and to enjoy Italian food the way it was meant to be prepared: simple and fresh.
Lovely, quiet, romantic. Food was great, service quick and attentive. Ambiance beautiful
Very nice staff (even gave us recommendations for great nearby restaurants as well as a couple of downtown stores) and excellent food.
Food was delicious and our waiter, Matt was very friendly. Felt safe during covid restrictions.
We were visiting from CT. The food was gourmet. Simple calming decor. Our waiter Matt was friendly and exceptional, giving us the history of the home. We will definitely be back.
Amazing food, atmosphere, wine , and service will absolutely return next time in Portland!! 5 star all the way keep up the amazing work!!!
Wonderful atmosphere and restaurant. Would absolutely go back!
Overall great experience at Roma. The best meal we had in Portland this weekend - the bolognese was amazing.
Anniversary
The restaurant is a lovely old house. The lighting is low so bring your readers and your flashlight if you’re visually challenged. The drinks we had were excellent as was the service. The meal was average and the portion size was below average especially for the price. We didn’t have appetizers and didn’t like the offerings on the dessert menu. We left the restaurant hungry and went into downtown Portland for a second meal.
We almost left because the menu only included about 5 entrees and we aren’t Italian restaurant aficionados. We decided to stay and it was one of the best restaurant experiences ever. It pays to think and eat outside the box. Entrees and desserts were awesome
The home made pasta was fabulous, and desserts were even better! The wait staff was friendly and homework the menu well enough to make good suggestions. The only drawback was a loud gathering on the opposite side of the house. Overall, I am looking forward to going back soon.
While exploring Portland we chose Roma to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and are so happy we did! The food, service, ambiance, and history of the restaurant are all top notch! The building is a converted residence that is itself beautiful. Our server, Matt, provided a nice little history lesson about the building and restaurant and, after our meal, even gave us a tour of the building - so cool! Still, the best part about Roma is the food which was phenomenal! From appetizer(heirloom tomatoes) to entrees (spaghetti and clams, ricotta agnolotti) to dessert (goat cheese cheesecake) our meal was surprisingly satisfying and tasty! A big thank you to Matt and the rest of the staff for making our special night even more memorable! P.S. don’t forget to check out the speakeasy downstairs for an after-meal drink!
Amazing. Fabulous food and service. Clean, socially distanced and comfortable.
I enjoyed the entire dining experience here! The food was so flavorful and the ambience was unique. The bread was exceptional—perfectly toasted and seasoned that it didn’t even need the olive oil. The watermelon salad with chorizo was the perfect combination of refreshingly sweet with a meaty kick. The appetizer special—the braised lamb shank with polenta—was very tasty and filling. Next time I’m in Portland I will come back for the homemade pasta and try to save room for dessert!
Our salad came after the entre
My husband’s pasta dish was about 1/4 of a bowl- not much
No presentation, no placemat( could have had paper)
Was in at 7:30- out at 8:30
Not the romantic dinner we wanted
And no bread
Amazing food. The lobster stew was delicious. Great staff as well.
Excellent! Everything was great.
Thank you 😊, we'll be back soon
What a wonderful surprise! We had amazing food and equally good service. My sons enjoyed their delicious craft cocktails and chicken skewers to start. I had an amazing grilled peach and plum salad with creamy burrata cheese for my entree. They had a pork chop with homemade berry sauce and homemade pasta with a tomato cream sauce. It was a delightful and modern dinner in a charming old building. Five stars!!!
Service was very attentive and knowledgeable...food was outstanding and the environment of the restaurant is very nice...a hidden gem!
Out cocktails and dinner we're delicious. Service was outstanding. We were so happy to celebrate our anniversary with Roma Cafe
The food was amazing! The atmosphere was very pleasing!! The service was perfect. We enjoyed this restaurant completely. We would highly recommend it!!
Always seems like a hidden gem whenever I go there. Food is fantastic and service is really good. A very good value.
Very nice experience!
We enjoyed the food, service and space!
This was NYC quality, amazing handmade pasta, these yummy chicken skewer things ... totally creative and delicious.
The Roma post-COVID reopening is a very different place, in terms of both amenities and the menu. Last year we loved that its menu was filled with classic Italian, but done absolutely masterfully. The meals you have known since you were a kid, served at the peak of excellence. All in a gorgeously maintained Victorian that feels like dining in someone's impressive home. Our trip this time still had meals served with excellence in a nice setting, but the menu has fully changed. The classics are gone, replaced by an unexpected fusion that left me scratching my head, and missing many key elements (no chicken entrees, for example). That was combined with a severe paring back of amenities -- they said COVID prevented them from serving bread, yet they were eager to try to up-sell us some grilled ciabattas instead? How about just offering the grilled ciabatta? Which comes to the value. For the fewer amenities, the price actually went *up* instead of down. A glass of ordinary Chianti for $12. A bowl of, essentially, really nice pasta with really nice meat sauce for $26. With no side. A dessert that was 3 doughnut holes with a tasty lemon sauce for another $10. I like Roma, I even liked the experience this time. But I could never see myself spending $150 for 2 there again if that was what I was getting for my money. And I can't recommend it again.
Matt was a great server, very friendly. The food was amazing, boyfriend said the spaghetti with clams was the best meal he’s ever had (maybe because the spaghetti was made from scratch upon ordering!)
Great food and service. A neighborhood gem. We will be rushing back.
We ate outside at The Roma and although Congress Street is busy the overall experience was lovely. The service was excellent, we didn't feel rushed at all. As always the food was delicious. I highly recommend The Roma for both food and service.
We celebrated our anniversary and it was such an amazing meal!
Food is delicious, but meals were small for the price. Loved the outdoor seating setup
This is our favorite place to eat while in Portland - reasonable prices & handmade pasta!
Excellent way to get back to dining after a long wait due to covid 19.
Great meal and they were very well prepared for extra precautions.
A great meal and service! Safety precautions in place for covid.
